Gastric Bypass or Lap Banding?

Had my mind made up that I wanted to get banded. I went to seminar last month and noticed that the surgeon was pushing the gastric bypass. He kept saying that banding is a thing of the past and I will only lose about half of the weight that I want to lose. He suggested over and over and over again that by pass was the way to go. I need everyones comments!!! I really dont want the bypass... too risky with my life and a huge nutrition factor involved with that.

Has anyone else heard of this? I insisted on the banding and now am ready to move on to the next step, which I think is the phsych eval... shouldnt have any problems there. Ive been married for 21 years, if Im not crazy by now... I think I will be okay. lol
