surgery 5/12 getting hungry alot.....

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if drs will do a fill before my scheduled appt? I had surgery May 12th and the last few days I have been so hungry...sadly eating things I should not. I am workingout, walking and have 4 kids to keep my active...I know I am eating the things I should not already :( Thinking of calling the Dr in the morning and see what they say. Anyone else have the same problem?

I know my doctor would not. They only thing I can really say is to measure your food out and stop. Entering week 3 I was on Tomato Soup and cottage or ricotta cheese. What does your doctor call for? I would have 8 oz of Tomato Soup and then a hour later have cottage cheese. This is why it's called bandster hell. You're hungry because the band is'nt helping. The other half of the equation is you are used to eating certain amounts of foods and you are'nt doing that anymore. Part of the bandster journey is mental. The band will never stop someone from eating sliders: ice cream, candy, etc that's all will power.

My surgeon wouldn't consider giving a fill until 6 weeks after surgery because you need this time to heal. Right now, try to focus on protein-it will keep you full longer. Also, if you feel like you need a snack, keep it Protein centered. You may eat more than you will once you have a fill but this time is really about healing not weight loss.

We were banded the same day. I'm on mushy food (kind of). I understand your pain....this part is so mental. I drinking the Protein drinks and have laughing cow cheese as a snack and tunafish w/ crackers, Jello, applesauce, eggs. I can have grits or oatmeal, but I'm watching the carbs. I've had my good and bad days. Tonight, I'm hungry too.....it's been so long since I've had bread. I continue because I can see the weight coming off now. Best wishes to you.

Question:

are we suppose to wait to drink on the mushy stage too?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
