3 days post op SUPER HUNRGY

I had surgery Thursday morning, while on my pre op liguid diet I had no problems. I was not even hungry much! I stuck to it the hole time no problem. Here is the problem :( I have to be on a clear liguid diet until next Thursday and I feel super hungry!!! I was wondering if it would hurt if I added in a boost or slim fast drink like once a day. All Drs are different that I know. I am eating jello, popscicles and drinking clear liquids...anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Cathylynn23,

I so know what your talking about. I had my surgery on Thursday and have battled the "head hungry" all day today. I only had to stay on clear liquids for two days. Today was my first day of full liquids and I must say that it really didn't help. I'm sticking to it. I would check with your doctor to see if you can add some Protein power to your clear liquids. Even though I feel hungry, I have been sipping on the same cup of Soup since Noon.

best wishes,

finally for me~!

I had surgery last Tuesday and I am on liquids and I AM FAMISHED!! My doctor allows protein shakes, and they help alittle bit as well as creamy soups.. so if your doctor allows any of that, it could give you some relief. I think this is just the most difficult week so far. I am starved so you're not a lone at all.

I had my surgery on Wednesday and I am suppose to be on a liquid diet until Tuesday. I was starving and I broke down and advanced myself to full liquids. I know that is against the rules but seriously 7 days on a sugar free diet which is like 300 calories a day if that. I was dizzy, and lacked any energy. I am not on total full liquid diet I only am allowing myself about 6 ounces of a milk product. I know some will say that I am cheating and this is how I got here but I really feel that if I didn't advance I was going to really cheat because I was STARVING. I didn't cheat on the pre op diet at all. I don't suggest doing this I am just telling you are not alone. Good LUCK!!!

i didn't really have to be on clear liquids, just any liquid that could go through a straw (without actually using a straw) and was told that i needed at least 2 Protein shakes per day. if i was still hungry, i was told that i could add Protein Shakes.

those 9 days were very difficult for me. i'm on day 3 of my mushy stage and sooooo glad to finally have something that isn't broth or juice in my mouth.

Funny,

I got banded on Friday and I am currently on the clear liquid and I feel fine. I even went to the movies today and my wife eating popcorn didn't bother me at all. Smuggled in some Jello and I was good to go. I am just drinking constantly and I am drinking various soups that I strain so I am able to have different flavors. I think if you are drinking the same things all the time you will tend to get bored so try switching it up...I am allowed coffee and tea at this stage and that seems to help. Talk to your doc and see if you can add something with a tad more substance.
