Lump in throat

For the past few days I have been noticing that right after I take a sip of water I get a lump in my throat. I notice it more in the evening. It passes fairly quickly and I don't have any nausea or vomiting with it. Should I be worried?

How long have you been banded? If it is very recently, I wonder if you might already have fluid in your band which was put in at the time of surgery. If so, maybe have some fluid removed. If it isnt recently, maybe you are too tight?

I apologize if you have the info in your signature - I can't see it on my iPhone.

Not sure if you are newly banded but at first I had to take really small sips of liquid at a time. You may not have any fill in your band but at this point but you do have swelling. If you are not newly banded but have just had a fill it could be a couple of things. Once again... right after a fill... I am back to small sips. Also, you could be too tight. A few days after my fill, when the swelling subsides, I can drink normal again without having to sip. One more thought... you might have irritated your esophogus (sp?) with too big a bite of food. When in doubt... call your doctor... that's what they are there for! Hope this helps... hang in there... it gets better every day and is so worth it!

I'm still in the liquid phase, I was banded March 14th (I guess it would be helpful to know that, sorry!)

Jenn, I had 3cc's in my band straight out of surgery. I get the lump in my throat thing now when I've ate too fast or too much. It's a big red flag (for me) to stop. I also get a bad (feels like surgery gas) pain in my left shoulder that radiates up to my head. So, as soon as I feel that lump...I stop. wink.gif

I'm going to guess that you have some Fluid in your band, or the band itself is restriction for you and that's what you're feeling by the lump.

YMMV :)
