Eating Question

Ok...I'm only a week post op and just was told I could have cream soups. My dr. never specified an amount so my question is do I need to be measuring out an amount? If so how much? Last night I probably ate about a cup of soup. I was full feeling but not dying or Thanksgiving full. Should I just eat a certain amount and stop? Or should I listen to my body? I don't want to damage anything but my thinking is also that soup probably slides right through...any input on this would be great!

You're fine; just don't eat too much of it. Thicker soups don't go down instantly.

I used a coffee cup (which is 8 oz vs mug which is much bigger). Since I was having tomato soups I also would have a protein shake an hour later.

I wouldn't worry till you are on mushies. Don't go too crazy, and it should be low fat cream soups.

Thanks everyone...and honk good idea about the coffee cup...will try that :)

Hi,

I guess there are different programs, but for my 2nd week which was soft mushy food (including cream soup), i was told to have 3 meals a day - no more than 4 oz. at each meal (measuring by volume). hope this helps :)
