Take 2 tylenol and a double shot espresso. That is what is in excedrin minus the aspirin.

Ibuprofen is an nsaid and can contribute to gastric ulcers. Therefore it is best to stick with Tylenol as it doesn't have a negative impact on your stomach.

Yep. I was told no NSAIDs for life. I can't take tylenol either, because my liver enzymes have been high. I've been battling a headache for two days now. Also, because of no NSAIDs my arthritis is really causing me some pain...literally!

AquarianCrab, what can you take for pain? Anything? Do you have to take some sort of narcotic without the tylenol? My surgeon said I can do NSAIDs from time to time, just not daily.

Right now, absolutely nothing. My arthritic knee hurt so bad Sunday morning it woke me up crying. I just finished a series of injections that the rheumatologist swears will be noticeable in about 6 months. I'm not sure I can go on that long. I still have some pain pills left from my surgery and if it gets too intolerable on a weekend I just might go for it but I don't want to take them during the work week.

Oh my goodness! That sucks! I have arthritic joints, too. Can't imagine not being able to take anything. Is that the rooster comb injections? A friend had that done. It helped. He really needs new knees, but isn't ready for that. I hobble along the best I can.
