Getting my band 1/13/11

I'm getting my lapband in two days. I've been on the liquid diet for the last 8 days and that's been tough, but I've managed to get through. Little nervous about surgery. Any suggestions for postop? Thanks. Maria

Hi Maria,

Good luck for the op, you will be fine, i was up and making myself a drink a few hours after it. My main advice is to take it easy, I rushed around way to much after my op even did an assult course 1 week after and i think that made my recovery slower. Well done with sticking to the liquid diet before. For about 10 days after my op i wasnt hungrey at all then after about 2 weeks i could manage a bit of mashed potato. Make sure you drink plenty of liquid afterwards and ensure you are still consuming enough calories, may sound crazy but it is actually really hard to.

All the best

Hannah

Maria, I am also being banded on Thursday morning. I have been debating this for two years and it is finally going to become a reality. I am eager to get on with this journey. I wish you luck in your surgery and let me know how you are doing and I will do the same! Amy

Hi,

Welcome. I was lap banded in 2006.. Here is a link to some resources that you may find helpful - recovering from lap band surgery. Let me know if this helps. You may also want to check out and download "The 10 Lessons of Successful Lap Band Patients." The download is only going to be available for a few more days. Let me if this helps!

Thanks Gloria,

I bought the book from Amazon a couple weeks ago and breezed through it. Lots of good stuff to think about to mentally prepare. I am registered on Banded Living too. Can't wait until tomorrow morning. Going to see some friends for some moral support in a few minutes. Take care!
