Hi All,

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, I know I sure did. One thing I was constantly worried about during the break was my pending approval from Cigna for the surgery. So I wanted to ask a question! Last Monday the paperwork was submitted for approval. I called on Tuesday to see if everything had arrived. The CSR told me that it had and that they should have an answer as early as Wednesday. So I waited and waited and waited. I finally called this morning and was told by the Authorization department that the paperwork was still pending. That it had been through Benefits and that the Nurse would review it and the Doctor's office that it was sent from would know first if it had been approved or denied. So is it good or bad that it is still pending? I have been on pins and needles since last week?! Would love to hear anyone's thoughts?

I'm guesing from the non-response that either not a lot of peopl have Cigna or this just isn't a good thing. LOL

I believe they have up to 30 days to respond. So as early as Wednesday really doesn't mean much. I don't have Cigna, but my paperwork was submitted right around Thanksgiving and I didn't hear until Mid-January that I was approved with all the holidays thrown it, it took a long time.

It was also a holiday week, so the "right people" may have been out of the office. You should hear something in the next few days, I'd think. My insurance took three working days, then called me for a phone interview before approving me.

A better way to think about it is that if the answer was No, you'd likely have already heard. Give them time.

Good luck!

Dave

I agree with Dave. Since the holidays were Thursday and Friday for most people, they may have gotten behind. I would say its a good thing. It takes a shorter time to say no. They will be calling with your approval soon!

My paperwork was also sent in last week (Monday). I was told they have 30 days to respond. The insurance specialist in charge of my case at my surgery center called today to check and she was told that it was under review. She told me that this was a good sign. That my case had been assigned a case number and a case manager. She deals with this all the time and she didn't seem worried. Even penciled a surgery date in for Dec 27th. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just TRY to be patient (I know how hard that is).

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
