Anyone on the pre-op diet?

Today I am on the second day of my pre-op diet and omg this crap sucks! After getting over the fact that this is horrible i go to what makes it barable, for me its sugar free Jello. I don't know how I would survive this diet without it. What is helping you or helped you get through and when/was your surgery date?

Dec. 8th 2010 surgery date.

I hear your pain...I was banded on Nov 19 and prior did the Optifast for 14 days...4 shakes a day and ONLY sugar free fluids - That was awful...I have to say I did cheat...A few cheese & crackers each day - I did fess up on surgery day and it wasn't a problem, it all ran smooth. So don't beat yourself up if you slip off here and there.

I am on day 14 and the first two days are the hardest so don't give up! Try suger free popsicles and suger free gum. I added some frozen fruit to my shakes and drank fast, just keep telling yourself you'll never see that number in the scale again! Tomorrow I am Clear liquids then surgery Tuesday!

To mimick what others have said, the first few days were terrible. I remember I stayed in my apartment for the first 3 days or so until I HAD to go out for work. Just made it easier to deal with. After those first couple of days though, it got much better. And I say it over and over, but I LOVED seeing the pounds melting away rapidly. I think that was a big motivator for me to stick with it (I had a 3 week preop diet).

Im on my liquid diet for two more days i have surgery and ill tell you the truth ive cheated lol i ate on thanksgiving and so i think you be ok if you eat very little but what im doing is four days before im back on only liquids i know its hard but hang in there you can do it!

im wondering if i should be concened because my doctor didnt put me on a pre-op diet. i did however had to loose 5% of my weight before insurance would approve my surgery. im wondering if this will count? i have talked to some people that say u need to lose some weight so there is room inside for the band, and to make sure ur liver isnt inflamed. i guess im lucky with the no diet thing but did u have to lose any weight proir to scheduling your surgery?

I'm supposed to lose at least seven pounds pre-op. I also need to follow a two week liquid before surgery.

I will be staring my preop diet on Wed 12/1 and i am nervous about it. i dont want to be hungry for a whole week before the surgery. I do not need to loose any wait before surgery ecxept during the preop diet so that the liver shrinks and gives them more room to get to the stomach. My drs only other orders are that you can not gain over 5 pounds from what you originally weighed at when your journey started. as they have had people going on binges and gaining 40 pounds right before surgery. Hang in there hopefully it gets better.

I'm not even hungry most of the time now. I think i want real food just to want it at this point. lol

I had to lose 10% of my body weight and do two weeks of liquids before surgery!
