I will get my first fill in one week, sometimes I forget that I need to eat slow, small bites and chew, chew, chew so I have gotten stuck a few times right in the middle of my chest. Is that where my pouch is, it seems so high up and if I don't have any real restrictions yet how is it going to be when I do have a fill. I ate a boiled egg yesterday thinking it was soft and slick so there would be no trouble, after about two or three bites it was stuck, and they weren't that big of bites.

I am looking so forward to getting the fills started I am sooooo hungry and I am trying to control myself. I have done well since surgery, I've lost 6lbs but this morning I have gained 1.5lbs, so sad.

I'm the same way. I'll get stuck up high too. I try to remember to take really small bites. Eggs get me too. I don't normally drink when I eat, but if I eat a hardboiled egg, I usually have a small sip of water. Helps to get it down.

I can't tolerate eggs. I get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest when I eat just a little too much.

I've read that people have trouble with boiled eggs. I haven't but then again I haven't tried since my second fill. Could you try preparing it a different way? I prefer over easy with wheat toast and fruit. That's a really good and satisfying breakfast for me.

maybe chop up the boil egg and add mayonaise and use a food processor or chopper to make sure egg is chopped up small. Then maybe you don't have to chew as much.

There seems to be a learning curve when it comes to trying to eat "bandster style"...taking small bites and chewing thoroughly. I might also add taking some time between bites. The moment you feel pressure, don't continue to eat, wait until it subsides and then continue. Like other posters said, some people have trouble with hard boiled eggs and maybe that will be you.

I might also add that it's possible you won't need much of a fill if you are already having a bit of restriction. For right now, avoid hard boiled eggs and don't be too aggressive with the amount of the fill, make sure you tell your doctor about this episode. It's better to take it slowly than get overfilled and be miserable or end up not being able to get liquids down.

After the fill, pay attention to the amount of food you are able to eat and how long it takes to get hungry again. These are telltale signs of if and when you need a fill. Just remember to be very mindful of your eating. Take your time, listen to your body when you are eating and see if it's telling you to slow down or wait a minute or two before resuming to eat.

And yes, when you get stuck, alot of times you will feel it in the middle of your chest. Your pouch is up higher than you would think. Remember when you used to feel stuffed? Well, think of where that region is and then go up about 5-6 inches and that is usually where you will feel it. Myself I tend to feel being stuck more in my throat than my rib cage.

Watch for signs you are getting full. A hiccup, a pain in your shoulder, a runny nose. Some people get them, others don't and have to rely on the amount of food they put on their plate.

Good luck and I wish you the best with your first fill. And don't fret that. If your port is in the proper position and the person giving the fill is experienced, you may feel nothing at all or just a mosquito bite. You are on your way girl!

I have yet to get it from eating too much, only from eating too quickly or not chewing enough. That may change after another fill or two in that I will have to watch portions even more closely, but so far, so good!

I have to cut up hard-boiled eggs pretty small (like in tuna or chicken salad), but I can eat scrambled eggs or omelettes without any hassle right now. Like anything else, I just have to take it slowly and deliberately.

Chicken has been my most frequent stuck food, but I'm determined not to give up on such an awesome source of cheap Protein.

i think the egg problem is the revenge of all the chickens we are noshing now we are protein crazy!!! i can manage a runny yolk with a toasted soldier but any other egg form is too rubbery for me.

I have found that if I chop or slice a boiled egg I'm fine, I just can't hold a whole egg and take bites out of it. I think it is mostly me not taking small bites and not chewing enough.

I'm looking soooo forward to getting started on my fills. I have been so hungry the last two weeks that my body is aching. I eat and two hours later I'm hungry again.

I'm learning too that I eat too fast or drink fluids to quickly. I feel it in the mid-chest, and then more and more air and saliva. The only way I can get immediate relief is to purge. I know that's not a good practice, but it works for immediate relief.
