4 days post op heartburn??

I am 4 days post op. Today I was sitting at computer with a bottle of diet green tea. I don't know what happened....all the sudden very, very sharp pain in between my breasts but towards the left side. I could hardly breathe...I have never had heartburn before, so still not sure what happened. Took a gas x, pain still there, called my mother to have someone with me....then took a tums, and pain subsided quite a bit, breathing came back to normal. It has been about an hour since it happened, but still have a little pain near left breast....Was this heartburn???:frown:

Hi Danielle,

I was just banded 3 days ago! I have gotten that feeling as well but I think its the gas build up that we are feeling in our shoulders, backs, etc. From what I understand, the surgeon injected us with co2 gas and we now have build up that is trying to escape, so yes, we are definitely gassy and yes it hurts like hell!! Try not to panic too much, I think its pretty normal. Gas x has helped me a little bit, I havent tried tums. Did you dr prescribe you heartburn meds, like nexium or prevacid? Mine did, I started them today and the gas has gotten much better. From what I understand, these are also prescribed to prevent ulcers b/c our digestive juices are just eating away due to us having no food in our tummies! I dont know about you but I cant wait to eat regular food:thumbup: Hang in there!!!

Thanks Danielle.....I sent an email to my nurse, she thinks I took too big of a drink, which will cause discomfort: gas bubble. I too am taking gas x....but no prescription meds for it.

Hi --I was banded Tuesday June 8 and have had the "golf ball stuck" feeling between my breasts since the second night. It hurts like heck to drink a sip of anything! I called my surgeon and he beleives that my stomach is very swollen...and to stay on clear liquids for another couple of days. I'm so bloated in the belly that I look preganant==the tummy is firm like a pregnancy so I'm not feeling OR looking very pretty! I hope this passes soon...feeling weak from essentially no nutrients since Monday-day before my surgery.

Keep the faith! We're gonna get there!!!

yup banded the 7th. Had the WORST gas pain. Still fairly bloated. basically felt like a big elephant was sitting on my chest. Finally dissipating a bit. It will pass.
