Hi everyone, I am really worried, I am having I guess some post op blues or something....I just was just banded on May14,2010...and I am very cranky, moody, second guessing my decision, not sure if I did this for the right reason...

I also was feeling full the 1st couple days but I am not sure when I am full n e more...I am scared that my band has moved or something...maybe my mind is just playing tricks on me or something...I go for my 1st appointment on the 25th of May...

Any words would help greatly feeling really sad and depressed...all my husband and I have done since the surgery is fight...he did not want me doing it and now he is like look at u i told u so...

Keara- I definitely questioned things post op- Between the pain meds, low caloric intake andafter effects of anesthesia, your body and mind have been on a roller coaster.... Please give it some time until your head is clear.... as they say "This too will pass"

:thumbup::thumbsup:Cheer up Keara....things will get better and they will calm down. Stay tuned to this site and get tons of support when you need it. Lots of us have gone through crankiness and fights with our hubbies or boyfriends. Try to look on the sunny side of it. Smaller cute sexy clothes, better health - keep your eye on the end result.

I did not have second thoughts, but I still had 2 distinct episodes of feeling really blue for no reason after my surgery. Each lasted for day or two and then went away. It was really uncomfortable and worried me. People told me it would pass and it did.

Your body went through surgery - anesthesia, moving organs around, diet changes, etc - and it is having some adjustments. I am now almost 7 weeks out, have lost 15.6 pounds since surgery and starting to really feel good physically and really good about my decision to get a band!

Hang in there - it will get better and don't let anyone bring you down. It will be worth it and you will soon be dropping weight and you will be the one saying, "I told you so!":thumbup:

I agree, getting banded is anticlimatic. I was so excited and then after it's over it's a waiting game. Getting to that first fill is entirely anticlimatic also. I didn't get true restriction until after my 5th fill. I suffer from depression any way. Also, it's a whole new way of looking at food and being able to tell the difference between real hunger and head hunger. It was a long wait. That being said buck up little camper...you can do this. As a PP poster stated stay tuned into this site for support. I found it very comforting to read what others had been through. Read the success stories. Hang in there...you'll be fine!

Yep, the same here. I thought I had just started a $10K failed diet. Then I started getting fills and like they say "Everything you know about dieting works once you have the band"

I would suggest that if you can find a local support group in your area, along with this site, it will help you tremendously.

I agree w/ Astrasmom, find a local support group and lean on this forum if you need to. Especially, if you're not getting support at home. It is completely normal to have reservations or feel moody after you've had surgery. Your body and your mind has gone through a trauma. It's a shock to the system that will get better. The first few weeks are for healing and learning about this tool you've armed yourself with. Regarding your husband or any naysayer spouses, I'll be frank. Relationships come and go but the one you with yourself is for life. Make this work for YOU and stay positive.

It's like a balloon deflating isn't it? Wow yeah I went through those moments too. We work ourselves up pre op and then sail through the surgery and then we become hypervigilant about our bodies all over again but now it's internal.

We CAN'T behave the way we had been and then there is all these feelings of desire for foods that just wont go down. There is also a mourning I think for what we have "lost" and we tend l=to lose sight of what we are about to gain. I promise, through loss, you are going to gain - your life!

just in my opinion qand experience, the band is tight rfeeling for a few days, then relaxes. the you will have your first post-op appt then perhaps you will get your first fill. my surgeon filled 2cc agtsurgery date then i have had 1.5 the nextto appts, hving good restrictin for the first week or so, then relaxing quite a bit after. i go once a month for a fill to a max of 14cc if I need. just carefull what you eat; my first experince of vomiting by eating food that was too dry to digest appenne 2 eek post op, then again a week ago before i had my secondfill again because of chicken bing to dry and not able to digest. i do better to mix mat and veggies on the same fork for lubricatin to get it down. i think you will be fine. jsut need a fill, it sounds like. cheer up!

I went into a severe depression when banded on 12/20/08 and mourned my best friend "food" for the first month, UNTIL the weight started dropping off. I fought with the insurance company and got approval after the 3rd try and when the weight started to come off, even with plateaus in between, I could not be happier and never regretted the surgery. You too will change your thoughts to happiness when you see your body getting smaller and the compliments start flying your way, good luck and keep focused.
