I am wondering if anyone experienced any reddend areas around their incision sites and what happened?

I have a reddened site around where my port is, it is sore but not any more than would be expected. I have steri strips all over my tummy and I am sensitive to tape, so I am wondering if that is the problem.

I am not running a fever, but just in case I called my surgeon and he put me on antibiotics in case there was bacteria trying to grow.

Did anyone else have this problem and if so did it go away?

Thanks cuz I am freaking out a little on this one. I have gone through so much I would hate for it to be taken out.

r:crying:

I have some redness around the incisions. When I went for a post-op check the surgeon said the incisions looked great. I think a certain amount of redness is normal and expected.

If you're concerned, trace the outside of the redness with a pen. If it spreads you should definitely call your surgeon.

I'm not a doc or a nurse but I've had other surgeries so I'm just speaking from personal experience.

Good luck!

Some redness is to be expected. Redness plus increased pain, swelling, drainage, and/or fever indicate infection. You've got that base covered with the antibiotic, so you can rest easy on that front.

I did have issues with the steri-strips; my skin really doesn't like adhesives, and was very happy when they fell off!

I am 3 days post-op. My md used surgical glue to reduce scarring and I must say they are healing very nicely. The small incisions are mostly gone and they do not hurt. The port incision is still red and tender but it is healing and the swelling is going down. You can expect some redness and soreness.

I had my surgery in October of 2009, and had no redness at all. When I had re-adjustment surgery in January 2010, I had ALOT of redness around all of my incisions. My surgeon said that it is from the glue that they use, he said that some people are allergic to it, and it gets progressively worse. He said if I ever had to have surgery again to mention it so they would use somethin different. I can't think of the name of it, it was NOT dermabond. I think it started with an H. I also had ALOT of itching along all of my incisions.

I used dermabond. I have no known allergies so this worked out perfect for me and I have no scars. Its 4 days post op and I feel really good...my incisions do not itch, the small incisions are completely healed and I'm just waiting for the glue to fall off. They said it takes 5 to 10 days to heal but I'm at day 4 and almost completely healed. I'm still a little sore when I wake up in the mornings but besides that I feel great.

Can someone please fill me in on how to put my ticker on here? When I paste the link it still does not show the image. I assume I'm doing something wrong lol.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
