Oh my gosh..!!!! I am 3 days post op and I want saltine crackers sooooo badly!!! I haven't eaten any, and I know I can't. I just need some motivation or ideas to get this craving out of me!

Are you craving the crackers or are you craving the salt? If you're craving the salt, chances are you're dehydrated, our bodies naturally crave salty foods when we're dehydrated as a round about way to make us drink.

If it's the crackers then it's more than likely carbs you're craving, I ate low-fat yoplait to cure my carb cravings for the first few days. That type of yogurt has a high carb content, so even though it's not bread it satisfies the craving.

And congratulations on your banding! :smile2:

At three days out, I wanted meatloaf. How odd is that? LOL!

I can't tell you how to beat your cravings, but I can guarantee that you're stronger than a saltine cracker. Try to visualize it with something gross on top. Something that you wouldn't ever eat in a million years. That is how I got past my meatloaf craving - by visualizing the raw meat (I hate dealing with raw meat. It gives me the heebie jeebies).

Be strong -- you can do this!

Oh how I wish I could have yogurt! haha I'm on clear liquids for week 1, full/creamy liquids for week 2(this starts Wednesday), mushies for week 3, then on week 4 I get real food and I first fill. I drank some chicken broth and that's when I started craving the saltine crackers.

Thank you, zobee!!! I will definitely try picture sardines on top of saltines! Surely that will do it! haha

I, too, am on clear liquids for a week and find myself craving odd things. Plus, I have a growly tummy - gas? hunger? Whatever it is, when I drink something warm it seems to subside...for a little bit. Made some Chicken Soup today for my bf and made extra broth for me. Popsicles, broth, apple juice, pedialite, and Water have been my best friends. And tea. God bless tea! And if my urge to chew becomes too great, I eat a Vitamin :smile2: - YUM! lol

Ha! That would do it for me! Or maybe snails? Bleh!

Keep focus on the prize! You can make it!

Also, keep the hope. I was pleasantly surprised, when my surgeon called to check on me a few days post-op, he was so pleased with my progress he let me move from liquids to mushies several days before I expected it!

But really, don't do anything to risk vomitting or hurting yourself right now! Very important!

It sucks, but you are worth it.

I'm slowly getting over this saltine cracker craving. lol Now I'm craving yogurt. I'm hoping the doctor will call me before my 1 week check up on Wednesday and clear me to move onto my full liquids. These clear liquids are just going straight through and I'm not getting satisfied.

If he doesn't call you, you call him and ask. They might have a suggestion of something you can have that will sustain you better until you can move forward to mushies.

Best wishes!

Thank you, Denise!!! I may call him on Monday. I have to do one week of full liquids (yogurt, sf pudding, protein shakes, creamy soups) before mushies. I'm just ready for something besides clear liquids!

I was dying on the clear liquids! I totally feel your pain!

My surgery was on a Friday and I got cleared for full liquids on Monday.

There is hope!

Do you think it would hurt me if I kind of mixed up full and clear liquids until Wednesday? Like do clear liquids, but have one yogurt a day? I'm scared to death of messing something up, but I'm so hungry!

Probably not, but it isnt worth chancing it. Truly. If I were you, I would follow your doctor's advice until you can speak to them on Monday. I promise you that you can do this. It is nearly bedtime now, so you only have one more day to get through. You can do this for one day. You can do anything for one day.

Remember, it's just food. The only power it has over you is that which you grant it.

Follow your dr's advise - but no. I was eating mushies on the 3rd day, then went back to Soup, when my surgeon called on day 4 or 5 they said it was fine and I could mix 1/2 broth 1/2 cream if that made me feel better.

Then again I'm soooo not the person to listen to when it comes to following orders. I listen to my body, not the dr. So don't listen to me. lol
