Dr. Gabriela Rodríguez Ruiz, Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Gabriela Rodríguez Ruiz is the bariatric surgeon at VIDA Wellness and Beauty Center, having expertly performed over 5,000 weight loss surgery procedures. She has been recognized as a Master Surgeon of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation and has collaborated in more than 20 internationally recognized publications. She holds a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Board Certificate, General Surgery Board Certificate, and a Mexican Medical License. As an American citizen, she resides and practices medicine in Baja, California. Her passion for medicine began when Dr. Rodríguez was age 13 as an experienced paramedic and was the youngest paramedic certified in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) by the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Rodríguez earned her medical degree at the School of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), specializing in Bariatric Laparoscopic Surgery. During her medical internship, she went to the University of Texas as a visiting medical student at the UT Medical Center in Saint Luke’s Episcopal, Methodist, and Memorial Hermann Hospital. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Cardiovascular Investigation Center of The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases of the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. Following her studies in Texas, Dr. Rodríguez completed her residency at the Autonomous University of Baja California General Hospital of Tijuana and in the High Specialty Ambulatory Surgery (UNEME).
