About Eric Ibegbu

Dr. Eric Ibegbu, Bariatric Surgeon Eric Ibegbu, MD, FASGE FACG, is a highly-regarded, board-certified bariatric surgeon with offices in Kinston and Jacksonville, North Carolina. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria and went on to complete his residency and internship at the University of Florida Health Sciences center in Jacksonville, Florida where he also fellowship trained in gastroenterology and hepatology. He received advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP). He currently serves as President/Medical Director at the Atlantic Medical Group, PC and as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Gastroenterology Department of East Carolina University. Dr. Ibegbu is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the American Board of Gastroenterology (ABG). He is a fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopists (FASGE) and a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG). And a member of the American College of Physicians--American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA). Dr. Ibegbu is very dedicated to research. He has authored numerous articles/publications and presented at national and international conferences on a variety of important topics. He has also been involved in the training of many other physicians across the country, and he serves as the speaker for several medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
