She has held academic appointments as an instructor of surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Pennsylvania, and was a research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She is an associate program director for the general surgery residency, director of the surgical simulation laboratory and faculty for the bariatric fellowship program. She is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
