  7. Hi all...I am just starting my journey to getting gastric bypass surgery. I met with a Registered Dietician yesterday and she discussed the importance of having several protein shakes every day. Here's my problem....I cannot stomach anything sugar-free. I have such a hard time with aspartame, sucralose, stevia, etc. Any unflavored protein powder suggestions?
  8. I stumbled upon this recipe for a protein packed overnight oats recipe that I've been eating almost every day and I'm loving it, maybe someone else will like it. Before bed I mix a container of greek yogurt (12g protein) and a scoop of protein powder (the brand I use is 20g per scoop). Once it is smooth I mix in 1/4 cup of milk (4g protein) and a packet of high protein instant oatmeal (10g protein). I put a handful of frozen berries on top and put it in the fridge until morning. When I'm ready to eat I mix it all up and it's very good. The total protein ends up being 46g. It's more than I can eat in one sitting but I usually eat it for breakfast and lunch and if any is left as a snack later. My favorite flavor combo so far has been raspberry yogurt with a scoop of chocolate powder and frozen raspberries.

    Protein post op

No one tells you really how difficult it is to get in your protein post op. I am unable to drink the required Protein Powder it makes me sick to my stomach. Everything protein powder, protein water, protein yogurt seems to all have a chalky aftertaste. Can you guys give any suggestions or highly recommended products to get in protein that don’t taste chalky and disgusting ? Most ready made shakes taste overly sweet to me now . One month post op next week surviving on water, Jell-O, pudding and broth.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm finally doing it. I started this process back in 2017 but then hiking and backpacking changed my trajectory. Then COVID caused chaos in my life and here we are again. I'm officially starting this journey and my first official Options class is Wednesday (5/24)! I'm so excited, so anxious and so ready to get this train moving. Tired of stalking all the WLS IGs and YouTube channels. Looking for new friends in Southern CA, with KAISER who are starting or already attending their Options classes. ❤️

    Protein Powder

I’m trying to find the best protein powder. Right now I’m using Premier Protein pre made bottles-cake batter, coffee, chocolate peanut butter, cookies and cream and banana are my favorites. What are protein powders that are being used everyone? Thank you.
  14. Is 66 grams of fiber too much in a day ? for someone who weighs 75 pounds ? and 98 grams of protein might be good or bad as well?
  15. After about 3 weeks post op, I am finally feeling better. So I am back to focusing on what I am eating and trying to break my stall. I have the stall at week 2, only really loss weight for 1 week after surgery when I was in the liquid stage. I want to ask all of you, how much proteins you eat a day? Before the surgery I was told to have 65-75 grams of protein a day, but when I follow up 1 week after surgery, my nutritionist told me to drink 2 bottle or protein shake a day. That’s already 60 grams! However I followed what he told me for a week. With the 2 bottle of shakes, my protein intake is over 100grams a day. When week 2 ended I didn’t loss any weight, but gained 2lbs…I feel like I took too much protein so when week 3 started I stop drinking 2 bottles of shakes and only drink 1. I can eat 40-50 grams of protein on my own right now. With the shake I am ranging from 70-85 grams a day. I like salmon, tuna and other type of fish and it gives me good amount of protein. Now after a few days of doing that. I finally loss that 2 lbs and back to my 1 week post op weight 241 lbs. do you think I am doing the right thing here not listening to what my nutritionist tell me?…he said I needed more protein to heal. 85 grams of protein is already 20 grams over what they told me to take initially tho. My liquid intake is 48oz a day now. This is hard because I literally can only sip very small sips. To finish a full bottle of water 500ml, it will take a 1 full hour, sometimes longer. With 3 meals a day, not drink 30 mins and 30 mins after, 48 oz of liquid is at my best. My eating schedule is 8am-5pm. 8am breakfast, 12pm lunch and 4:30pm dinner. Take me 30 mins to finish my meal. I feel like drinking water is like a full time job now. Surgery date 1/22 250lbs Post op 1/24 257lbs 1/31 follow up visit and started 2 shakes a day 241lbs 2/5 243lbs I stop drinking the 2 shakes 2/9 241lbs So after almost 3 weeks I loss about 9 lbs, and it was only during the first week when I was eating! Now I am feeling better I want to continue with the loss and not gain weight. Any input would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
  16. Does anyone have suggestions for a clear protein drink that fits into the immediate post-op clear diet guidelines that are not super sweet and horribly flavored? I am not a fan of sweet drinks and everything I’ve found so far tastes horrible. Thanks in advance!!
  17. Hello....am a week into my gastric bypass surgery and am so tired of these protein shakes. Sometimes I feel like just not drinking any at all. Can I eat peanut butter instead??

    Non-sweet clear protein

Unjury has great tasteless options and savory protein too.
  19. So I was sleeved 2 days ago, I was told to only drink whey protein isolate however I can’t seem to tolerate it at all. The thickness, smell , taste everything just makes me want to throw up. Most of the powdered ones do. Did anyone’s surgeon have a problem with them substituting for ready made protein shakes? I tolerate premier protein very well.

    Protein Shakes Prop65

I wanted to order the ready to go protein shakes but notice the Prop65 warning. Can anyone tell me why the shakes require this. Bariatric Pal is the only place I found these to go shakes and they really work for me. But I don’t want to ingest or expose myself to carcinogens.
  21. Hi community! Hope you’re all well. I am officially 18 days post op and I am struggling. My puréed diet is very restrictive. I can’t have eggs, tuna, cheese like many can and I’m struggling with meeting my protein goals. I was told not to have protein shakes as a liquid but as a meal. But it’s difficult to meet my liquids goal and my protein goal when I feel like I don’t have many options. These are the things I was cleared to have: 2 oz. of milk, 2 oz. of low fat or light yoghurt, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, mashed avocado, 2-3 oz. of small curd cottage cheese, hot cereals like oatmeal, cream of wheat, farina with skim milk, lentils, chick peas, tofu or beans. Introduce all cooked vegetables (zucchini, carrots, spinach, etc.) 2 oz. of mashed fruits up to two times per day between meals as snacks I have also hit a stall which sucks cause I’m only 2 weeks post op and I believe it may be cause I’m not meeting my protein/liquid goals. I have also experienced dizziness and as a result I’m not walking as much as I should be. I been mostly on bed rest. I have also been suffering with constipation. Does anybody have any tips? Any advice would be very helpful on how I could meet my goals or any recipes based on my diet above. Thank you in advance 💜
  22. I have finally hit the end of my rope with protein supplements. Every thing about them makes me want to [emoji2961] I'm not a food for breakfast eater, I like to drink my breakfast because that's when I take a bulk of my medications. I need good bariatric friendly protein shake/smoothie recipes. I'm willing to put powders or premade shakes in as long as I CANNOT taste it. If you have a good website or cookbook with recipes in it, that'd be nice too. Thanks, everyone!
  23. I begin my 2 week liquid diet in 10 days, I want to try different shakes beforehand so I can see what I like & so I don’t get bored or just stuck with the same flavor for 2 weeks. please comment protein shakes you would highly recommend to try, Ready made protein shakes or powder !
  24. What are y'alls favorite ready to drink protein infused waters, as far as taste? Are they all basically the same as far as taste and nutritional value?
  25. Good Morning, I am 9 days post op and have started purées. I’m trying to track my protein but I’m getting confused. This morning I made one pack of butter grits, with 1/2c Fairlife milk, and 1/2 scoop of isoprene protein powder. When you add that up it comes to 21 G protein. If I eat 2 oz how much protein did I eat?
