  1. Hello, I am new and want to introduce myself. I’m Gina and I am 13 days post op. I had the SIPS procedure and hiatal hernia repair. I had Gastric Sleeve in 2019. Reached a plateau, switched from Kaiser to United Health Care - Sutter Health (N. Ca). Five years ago my pre surgery weight was 286. My pre-op weight on January 10 is was 230. When I was still under Kaiser, I contacted my bariatric team about having revision surgery and they advised me to just stick to a thousand calorie diet and that I was not eligible for revision surgery. My family and I had to switch healthcare providers and I joined the weight management in nutrition program at Sutter Health, and I was immediately referred to a Bariatric surgeon who recommended a revision! I was pleasantly surprised, because I was not even going to ask because of my experience with Kaiser. So here I am 13 days post surgery and looking forward to reading about your experiences. 🙂👍🏼

    10 Year Mark

I’ve been gone a while from the forum. life has just been busy and I guess time just gets away from me. It’s like I turned around and I’m old 😂 not really old but you know what I mean. looking at my profile it’s hard to believe I’ve been banded since 2014. I can only imagine where I would be if I never had the surgery. Or if I had done it sooner…. today I’m probably the healthiest I’ve ever been. I’ve got to be the mother and grandmother MY parents and grandparents never were and it’s because I changed. My career my marriage and my family has all flourished! is it all because of the surgery? Maybe not. But I definitely attribute a lot to it! the way I feel, the activities I can do…my overall mental health….i still deal with body image issues….still that chubby woman in the mirror, stuck episodes and bad days. We all probably do. But the good definitely outweigh the bad! I recently went to the dr for a horrible sting and when she took my blood pressure it was 55bpm I said “isn’t that too low?” she said “honey, you are almost 44, sitting cross legged on my table and just told me about your 20 mile mountain bike ride. Just looking at you I would say other than this sting you appear pretty healthy. It’s just fine.” coming from a family tree with tons of health issues, cancer and obesity I felt a huge win! so here’s to hoping the band holds up another 10 years😂 (I see a lot of horror stories) she has been a lifesaver and a huge help. Without her I don’t think I would be where I’m at! cheers to you all! Wishing you all the best of luck on your journey!
  3. Hi Everyone, Hope you all are feeling and doing amazing. Quick question???? Did anyone have a feeling of being super full or not being able to "digest" regular food between 6-10 weeks post op? The feeling started around 6.5 weeks out and I just feel so UGH... Like anything I eat was just sitting at the top of my stomach. I also have issues being "regular" in the bathroom so I thought it was that. I was able to fix that and the bottom of my stomach got relief but the top still felt full. I was having a hard time eating or drinking only cause I always felt full like overfull. Reached out to the doctor and he said that sometimes between 6-10 weeks scar tissue can develop where the stomach and intestine are attached which can constrict. Has anyone had this and did it go away or get better after 10 weeks? I switched to primarily a liquid diet and it is better but still feel ugh. I feel like Violet in Willy Wonka. Doctor is doing an upper GI x-ray just to be safe but that is a week away. Just want to get ideas from you all. 🙂
  4. Hi all, Anyone here willing to share their story of achieving their goal weight and maintaining it 10+ years post surgery? Thank you

  6. As the title suggest, I'm having what I assume is very severe gas pain. After dinner last night I started getting gas pain around my sternum/pouch area. I thought it would resolve after some chore and sleep but it persisted and even woke me up at night. It continues to persist, I've tried walking, massaging the area, etc. Unfortunately I work 22 miles from home in a rural area that has no stores where I can buy some gas x but as soon as I get back to town that is my first stop. Has anyone else experienced this? What do you do to relieve the pain? I've never had such bad gas pains!
  7. Hi I got my sleeve surgery on August 22nd .. I've lost about 50 pounds but I was in the hospital a few days with sepsis and now I just got on the scale and gained like 8 pounds? I've barley eating so I'm confused any help ? Start weight 302 Surgery weight 288 Monday 251 today 260..
  8. Hi everyone, I was sleeved 9/11/2013 and this ten years has definitely been a journey weight loss rollercoaster for me. I started at 239 and currently weight 152. I lost down to 167 and that was my lowest for years. I slowly gained again after the lost of my parents and last year weighed 212. I refocused and lost 60 pounds down to my lowest at 152. I’ve been focused and watchful of my meals and started intermittent fasting which has been a lifestyle change for me. Still the best decision I ever made
  9. Hi friends. I had my gastric sleeve surgery on November 14th, and everything went smoothly. Pre-up was a breeze for me, I was excited, and generally my mood was good and looking forward to the future. Today, Ten days later and physically I am doing well, I think. I am having a mind over matter problem when it comes to “eating” well drinking my “food”, you know what I mean. Nothing and I mean nothing appeals to me accept really cold water and ice. I hate to sound so dramatic but I am repulsed by anything else, protein shakes, broth, etc etc. it’s not that I can’t keep it down or the taste is that bad (even if it is) it’s my brain. I see myself and I look different, I have definitely lost weight and that’s awesome but I have been really depressed. I don’t even know why, it’s not because of this reason or that reason. I feel lost is the best way to describe it. Like it’s not me here right. I don’t feel like I used to, I don’t even enjoy things that I used to. I feel really alone and like I am in some foreign place where I don’t even know myself. My husband has been supportive but when I try to explain this he goes into the “well this is what you wanted” lecture and I feel worse so I don’t really talk to anyone about it because well yeah this was my doing, my choice. No one wants to hear me complain. I was really curious to know if anyone else who is close to where I am in my “journey” have had these feelings. Maybe I’m just going crazy. Thanks for obliging me, it even feels better to type this out.
  10. I was sleeved June of 2013….this is me ten years later!
  11. I had my VS in 2012, lost 150 lbs and maintained that loss almost effortlessly for 8 years, then Covid hit and in a matter of 3 months I gained 80 lbs back WITHOUT CHANGING MY EATING HABITS!!! I feel like I’ve been robbed. By no fault of my own, the weight came back and stayed. I still can only consume 4 or 5 bites to eat and I’m full. I just don’t understand why this happened and if I do a revision to a DS will that help?
  12. Surgery 10/2! Patiently waiting and nervous!
  13. I need help from some long term post sleeve people. I am about 10years out and over the last 2 years have gained back 75lbs. I am still 75lbs down from my high weight, but I am not in a happy place with my weight and eating. I feel like I can eat almost normally now and that is not good. Has anyone gone through this and got their restriction back? What did you do? Thanks Devon Sent from my SM-G981U using BariatricPal mobile app

Ha!
  15. I am scheduled for February 18th. I will be first in. Wow, this process takes forever.
  16. 10 days out from surgery and found this online community for support. I'm on day 3 of the pre-op diet, and have been having dreams about food.

  17. Do you know what a 10" south shore bar pizza is? They are served bars south of Boston for the most part and are delicious. Today, the Cape Cod Cafe (not on Cape Cod and not a cafe either) serves $6 cheese pizzas. Absolutely delicious. I bought one figuring that I'd eat half for lunch. I had it in the car and couldn't wait to get home. Started eating , and kept eat slowly over the course of 45 min until it was all gone. Oh no! What have I done?! I'm scaring myself a bit because I'm only 4 months out and don't want a big stomach. How come some foods allow me to eat normal portions or even over-eat, and other foods, like eggs, keep me line?. In addition to pizza, I can eat a lot of salmon too (2 fillets). Anyway, looking for explanations, encouragement and support. Many thanks. I started at 386, and after about 4 months ( in a week) I'm down 72 lbs. That's the good news. But I'm not even half way to my goal, hence the worrying.
  18. Around 5 months ago (I would've been 5 months PO then as 10 months PO now) I started to get a sharp constant stabbing pain under my left rib. It has come and gone over the months and I mentioned it to my consultant who ordered a CT scan which I'm still waiting on the results for. But its really gotten worse over the last few weeks now radiating to my left shoulder making breathing painful. I've had some nausea and sweating with it also. I went to A+E and all tests came back fine. X ray showed a build up of poop so they diagnosed constipation and after some suppositories I had a full clear out. The pain continued. Ended up in A+E again and they're stumped. Ruled out heart attack and blood clots etc and sent me home. I chased up my CT scan results today but they haven't looked at them yet. Has anyone experienced this? I keep seeing gas pain in search results but could this really be gas again? I thought I was over the gas pain weeks out. This feels a bit different.
