  1. I was sleeved January 27th 2021 starting weight was 215 day of surgery went down to 200 first 3 weeks after surgery, but I have since lost weight very slowly I was in the 3 week stall for about 3 weeks at 199 and today 2 months post op I am at 191 and I know it is still going down just really slowly about 1 pound every week or two and I am not sure if this is normal I just feel like it's so slowww!! anyone else in January? how is it going or has anyone experienced really slow weight loss?
  2. Hi! I had surgery on March 10th 2021. From 3 week Pre-op until now, I have lost a total of 19 pounds (nearing 6 weeks total time). I have not lost any weight in the last 10 days. I’ve spent a good period of time assuring myself by reading the great feedback on others posts about similar questions but, most suggest the 3 week stall and I have heard that the stall can happen 2-4 weeks post surgery. Has anyone ever heard of a stall basically right out of the gate? I am tracking - I am at 600 calories/day and 60g of protein. My Pre-Op Diet Start Weight was 257 and I am currently 238. Thanks in advance for the advice and feedback, a little challenging to not be discouraged!
  3. So unfortunately I did check my weight and I only lost 1lb since my post op appointment last week and I am extremely annoyed. Like in another week I’ll be 4 weeks out and I only lost 14 lbs after surgery so far. I am trying my best with protein and water goals and I am following the plan, not to mention I move a lot and my bms are normal so I’m not understanding what the issue is. Trying to not get discouraged I know this is normal but still it’s a little disheartening but I know it will get better.
  4. I believe I thought I would lose a pound a day after surgery. I have lost 17 pounds in 23 days post op. On a 2nd stall right now which is wierd to have so fast it seems. This must be the 3 week stall I have read about, how long did this last for you? I guess this is just part of the process.

    Am I doing this wrong??

Your experience is actually pretty typical. Right after surgery, you can have a lot of water retention and internal swelling, which can skew your weight. And just when that resolves, it's common to hit a stall at 3-4 weeks and it may last anywhere from 1-2 weeks. It's not a sign that anything is wrong, it's just your body first recovering from surgery and then adjusting to the radical change in your food intake. After the 3 week stall breaks, most people start seeing a steady drop in weight for the next several months. I wish weight loss surgeons would warn patients that the number on the scale may not drop a lot in those first post-op weeks, it would save so much unnecessary stress. You're probably doing fine, just stick with the plan.

2-3 week stall is common! Just hold on, keep doing what you’re doing, and you’ll break that stall!

    February 2021 bypassers?

I got my bypass 2/9/21 recovery was hard. I was on Jardine for my diabetes before surgery to help me lose the mandatory 15 pounds before surgery. My surgeon was unfamiliar with the medication and should have took me off atleast 3-5 days before and didn't. As a result on 2/14/21 I ended up back in the hospital with metabolic ketosis and on top of that server dehydration .. Now on soft food I'm at the infamous 3 week stall and not feeling very hopeful. I started at the smaller end of the scale so I was warned weight loss would be slower than most but I didn't expect a stall so soon. HW 238 SURGERY WEIGHT 219 CW 204

    Not losing weight...

Stalls are an unfortunate part of the process... at least in my experience. Everyone's journey is different, though. In my case, I have hypothyroidism so I stall more than the average person. And I've had some looooooong stalls. Several 3 weeks stalls, a 23 days stall, a 26 day stall, and even a 27 day stall. My most recent stall was in January. I had only lost 2 pounds in January and I lost those two pounds on January 18th, and then didn't lose ANYTHING until February 14th (I count this as a 26 day stall because there is 26 days between the two losses). But, February has been a good month. I've lost 5 pounds in total in the 12 days since I started losing again. I just re-evaluated what I was eating, and I thought maybe if I cut my sodium down a little it would help with some water weight and maybe I'd start losing weight again since I was also dealing with inflammation from physical therapy and was probably part of the reason I wasn't losing weight. I'm 13 months post op and even with my massive amount of stalls I've still lost 125 pounds since surgery. Stalls are annoying and disheartening, but if you either ride them out or adjust what you're eating a little, they do eventually pass.

    January 2021 anyone?

I bet your happy that those weeks are past you. That would have been so scary while recovering. I would agree thats burned in your memory! Let me know how your first day back to work goes. I just had my pulled ab muscle from over exerting myself. Sore muscles that a heating pad and ice pack are helping with. Did you hit that "3 week" stall? I havent lost any weight for 6 days. I know its normal... i just wonder how long it will last for me.

    February 2021 bypassers?

I had my surgery 2/4. I have been stalled since 2/8, I have not lost 1 lb. is that normal this early into the process? I hear about the 3 weeks stall but mine is a less than one week stall. I am doing everything the Dr. told me.
  12. I agree, 8lbs since surgery is around 1/2 lb per day. That is pretty good weight loss. There will be stalls (3 week stall) and times where the weight just falls off. Just stick with the plan that you have been given and the weight should continue to come off.

    Barely loseing

Thank you, I've heard of the 3 week stall but never week 1 it threw me a bit and I've been feeling down as my weightloss is not near people that had surgery on the same day. It's very hard not to compare although I'm trying. I'm still in quarrantine due to covid restrictions in my Country but definitely looking forward to get walking. Thanks alot. Weight loss and gain

It seems like your 3 Week Stall came a little late! There's a bunch of threads on this very annoying phenomenon if you give the search a try.

    Stalled after 1.5 weeks?

Typically, at about 3 weeks post-op you'll have a stall in weight loss, could last a week or a few weeks. It breaks eventually, but it's very disheartening. If you do a search on the forum for "3 week stall" you will find a lot of posts and information.
  16. So after I lost all the water weight from surgery, I lost 10lbs- all by week 1.5. Now? Nothing. I'm just past my 2 week mark now. Did I get the infamous 3 week stall early? Also sick of feeling kinda crappy multiple times per day. And who has time to eat 8x per day?? And do they really expect it to take 1/2 hour + to eat 2oz of food?? Very frustrated.

    Stalled after 1.5 weeks?

That is weird I thought people get losing weight week after week. I get my surgery(bypass) on 01/19. What is this 3 week stall you’re talking about?

  19. I've heard of the 3 week stall. But I stopped losing weight at 1 week. I lost 10lb during my 1 week pre op diet and 10 lb the week after my surgery. My surgery was 11/30. I haven't lost anything since 12/7. I use a Bariatric app to track all my food/water/vitamins. My calories have gone up over the past 2 weeks (as expected) from around 300 to 600 and my carbs are higher than I would like (around 35 avg), but I'm finding soft foods are limited. I am not meeting my water goals of 64 oz. I'm getting about 30 oz. If I do too much moving around, my incision sites get really sore so I have not started walking but I do a lot house work and go into my office a couple days a week (not just a couch potatoe, like week 1). Why do I feel guilty?

I agree. Whenever I'm busy with chores or outside I'm absolutely fine and can keep going on. But as soon as I'm free all I can do is think about food. I think its more the head than the body. How much have you lost in three weeks? I'm on the famous 3 weeks stall right now.. can't see anything going down on the scale. Hope it gets over soon though. Why do I feel guilty?

I know.. its crazy. I'm trying not to weigh myself everyday now. And after this 3 weeks stall, I have set my mind that I'm not gonna see any difference until its over. So no more weighing till next 2 weeks or so. Weighing everyday in hope of seeing less is driving me crazy. Just trying to keep up with the water intake, food and being more active. Wish you all the best for your surgery. Sent from my SM-N960F using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Sorry that you are having to go through all that sounds awful but wow talk about information..Lilfootie knows a lot! About me: I was very depressed I felt I had done the surgery all for nothing! I was on a a 3 week stall. I thought I was going everything I needed to do but the more I read online I came to the conclusion I was just not eating and exercising right. I upped my carbs and fat just a bit and started resistance training. And just like that I’ve dropped 2lbs. Started this journey at 230 currently at 201.2. I’m so happy!!!

    Post Sleeve Question

Welcome to the 3 week stall. My wife and I also had surgery around 1 week before you and have also hit our stall. If you look on the forum there are a lot of people that have this stall due to the rapid weight loss. Per the other forum posts, we just need to keep at it and our body will start losing again soon.

    3 week stall

Before the 3 week stall police come and tell you to do a search, I'll tell you its normal and right on time. Could last a few weeks.
