    pre packed meals snacks breads

My doctor/nutritionist do not want me to ever eat any product that contains yeast. Not sure why yeast specifically, but I know they do not want me to have most breads and similar products. They also do not want me to have any rice and only limited portions of wheat pasta. I CAN however eat 6-10 whole wheat crackers, so I am using that as my "bread". I think I am going to just have to do my best to do a mostly keto"ish" diet. I also just ordered cheese crisps to substitute crackers and add a little protein in their place. Not sure how I will like those yet. Ordered a variety so maybe I can find something tasty. Pre-packaged food: I am going to do my best to avoid all processed pre-packaged food. It usually isn't very healthy for you. But, if I do need something quick and easy I am not opposed to using them occasionally. But instead of frozen meals, I will try to get some fresher versions from local delis. Haven't tried the bariatric site meals, but I did buy some bariatric soups for after surgery.

    Can you lose too fast?

I started at 407 and in the first few weeks I was losing almost 4lbs a day, and then at 3weeks I stalled for 3 weeks. After that I slowed down to about 10-15lbs a month
  5. I was banded on 8/7/12. I saw my nutritionist on 9/10. I saw her again last night and lost 4.5 pounds in that time. She made a statement like that wasn't enough weight loss. I thought that 1-2 pounds per week was healthy?
  6. Hey everyone! Hope you all are doing great post op. I am 6 weeks post op and doing well so far. Except I am really bad in having my protein shakes. I'm supposed to have 1 scoop everyday but I probably have it just thrice a week???? I've lost a total of 24 lbs. wondering if that's ok and will the amount of protein I take it, affect my weight loss? I'm a vegetarian and have beans, lentils etc but there's only this much I can have of it. Should I be losing more? I haven't lost any weight since 10 days???? Suggestions welcome
  7. I had a great post op visit with my surgeon this morning. It was so nice to find out if everything I was feeling was normal! I was banded on 3/28 so this is day 10 post op! He told me the pain I have been having around my port is natural since they do sew it to the abdominal wall! They sew it to the muscle with sutures so as you heal and you are moving it takes time to heal but it does heal fine and it is sutured in tight enough not to flip or move now days! I was also worried about band slippage (the nurse practitioner also came in and answered some questions) she said that slippage usually occurs within 5 days post op and happens because the sutures the band is sewn in with become loose (usually 3 - 6 sutures) because of violent excessive vomiting or a traumatic event like a car accident. After 5 days the sutures are usually healed enough to anchor the band in place. Saying that she said it is still important to stay on full liquids for 14 days post op to ensure continued healing then slowly progress to soft diet. I can start the soft diet Monday and she told me to choose soft meats and instead of pureeing them I can cut them to the size of a pencil eraser, which I think I will try instead of pureed meat! Regarding hunger eat Protein first because that fills you up faster and try to eat/drink every two hours. I told them I was starting to get hungry! It is normal for most to get hungry after the swelling goes down. I will be getting my first fill in 4 weeks! (I think I might stick a tblsp. of Peanut Butter in my Protein shake which is ok) I can exercise, but only walk on treadmill or outside. I can resume normal activity after 6 weeks checkup, which is what all surgeons say! I feel so much better knowing that everything is ok! Hope this helps for all those waiting to see their surgeons, but this is just and FYI, letting you know what my surgeon says is not what all surgeons say!! Peace, Joleen
  8. Hi, I'm having the Gastric Sleeve done in TJ on Wed 9/19 and plan to fly back after 2 nights in the hospital on Sat 9/22. I'm curious to know how soon after surgery did others travel. Thanks!
  9. Well its almost 48 hours after surgery, and things are good pain is an average of a 3 1/2 worst a 5 1/2 not so bad. gas today is the worst. Feels like im going to give my self a hernia at the slightest attempt to push it out. so really careful about that. other then that this is cake. no hunger yet. I've lost 15 pounds since the 10 day pre-diet to now so 15 pounds. I was 290 im 265 now since I started with Swedish weight loss. Dr Ross McMahon is a mad genius and I highly recommend this surgeon. Down to earth with the highest level of confidence he his in him self he instills that in you. Made me soooo comfortable. I give him a 12 out of 10!!! life is good even in pain:) only negative is im a non- smoker (I quit 1 1/2 years ago) and am coughing up blackish green thick phlegm all day today. Anybody else have this?
  10. I'm in a contest to be on the cover of Triathlete magazine. To enter I shared my story about how WLS and exercising, specifically triathlons have made me more fit, and I'm happy to say I've made it to phase 1, the top 20! Please vote for me, Julie S., so that I can make it to phase 2. You can vote on all your devices, (desktops, iPads, and your cell phones). Thank you. Voting ends in Monday February 1, 2016. http://triathlon.competitor.com/2016/01/photos/2016-triathlete-fit-contest-round-1-women_127517 Here is the essay I submitted: In August 2011, I had weight-loss surgery. Like many, I had tried to lose weight on my own with diet and exercise, but I wasn’t successful. After the surgery, was it easy to lose weight? Yes. Was it easy to keep it off? Hell no! The main problem was I wasn’t being active. I met a lady who told me she was scheduled to have a second surgery to lose the weight she had regained. Fearing I would end up like her, I decided I needed to get moving, so I started swimming. Then a friend asked if I wanted to do a triathlon, so I started biking and running too. Finally, on Mother’s Day of 2012, I officially became a triathlete. From then on I was hooked. I’ve been competing in triathlons for four years now, and I’m currently training for my first half Ironman in April and first full Ironman next year. I’m happy to say that, thanks to triathlon, I haven’t regained any weight and I’m the fittest I’ve ever been. My new goal is to encourage others to be active and to try tris—whether they need to lose weight or just want to have fun.

    Are revisers different?

I had my band in 01/05 and to me it was very painful the first 4 days. I have a very low tolerance for pain. I had my revision on 12/20/13 and it was painless, hardly any pain, I was a little tender on left side for abt two to three days. I was really nervous abt the pAin w the sleeve. I had watch several u tube videos..some said no pain and others said worst pain in their life. So I wasn't really sure what to think. I was really scared but went ahead with it. When I came to I couldn't believe that it didn't hurt. I was pleasantly surprised and oh so relieved. No my only problems was EXTREME nausea and Diarrhea... My diarrhea has stop and the nausea not quiet as bad. Good luck in your venture
  12. Know that I felt the same way you do right now. I slept with an ice pack in the middle of my back. Not all surgeries are alike and if you had a hernia or adhesions they have to put a lot more pressure on you. I didn't even have back pain before surgery when I was over 300 pounds and I was 229 when I had surgery. The back pain is alleviating now. I was 200-300 calories at 3 weeks forcing down isopure to get extra Protein in (I had a day at 3 weeks I got in 17 grams of protein). If you can't walk 20 minutes - do 10 minutes take a break do another 10 minutes - then take a break and if you can squeek in another 10 do that. It gets better, I promise you. I hope your surgeon or Nurse has some words of wisdom for you or you can find some back relief soon.
  13. In order to stop something, you have to start something. This beautiful brave soul's name is Kaycha Baez from Florida, and her story speaks for itself. Kaycha's Weight Loss Journey has now turned into a Journey of Justice and wants to take action to help make a difference in taking the first steps in perhaps paving the way for others. Kaycha needs to go to Mexico and file a complaint in person against Almanza and Weight Loss Agents. According to the existing laws in Mexico, a victim must file in person with the appropriate authorities to open an official Mexican Government investigation against Almanza and Weight Loss Agents. As of today, there are no formal complaints against Almanza/Weight Loss Agents and that is why he continues to operate with impunity. The Mexican authorities are aware of the problems posted on online, but without a formal complaint, it's all hearsay. Let's all work together to help these victims get the justice they deserve. In Mexico, the authorities are looking for both civil and criminal charges against Almanza and Weight Loss Agents but without proof and a formal complaint, they can do nothing. Anything to help Kaycha get to Tijuana, Mexico would help, $5, $10, $20, etc.., so Kaycha can be the first victim to file a formal complaint against Almanza and Weight Loss Agents in Mexico to help save others from potentially suffering from what Kaycha is going through, or what other families are going through, or worse, like death of a loved one. For the victims with leaks, nicked intestines, nicked spleen, cut liver, infections, or medical problems caused by this butcher named Almanza and Weight Loss Agents, please contact me and let's organize to file formal complaints, to put this butcher in jail, and stop the this human slaughter. Please click on the link below, read Kaycha's story, and help if you can. This is the fundraising campaign for Journey to Justice: http://gofund.me/KaychaBaezDiaz There are many good surgeons in Mexico, but Almanza is not one of them. http://www.10news.com/…/team-10-investigates-agency-respons…

    Where do you buy clothes?

I buy all my workout clothes at walmart, they have really nice stuff. I only buy danskin. I buy my bras at Soma. My boobs are huge, they are the only option and bras are amazing. Sports bras I purchased on ebay, new, I only wear the kind that go by band and cup size and they come up high on the chest. Unlike a lot of people that post here, I refuse to wear used clothing. I just can't I think it is repulsive. However I do have a limit on what i will spend on a single item and that is $30, dresses $50, and as always no limit on purses and shoes. I am hourglass shaped with a small waist, with the exception of my breasts and arms i am small on top. I wear anything from 12 to 16. I shop at... Old Navy - shorts, dresses, tshirts, rompers banana Republic - tops, the bottoms I am a little too hippy for Tommy Hilfiger - their stuff is very generously cut, you can probably go down a size Saks off 5th - you just have to look Nordstrom Rack - again you just have to look and try things on The Limited Forever 21- I don't know why people turn their nose up at it, I love the cheap tank tops and you can find cheap dresses too. I still wear plus size there Charlotte Russe - I still wear plus size there (the sizes like forever 21 are juniors), if you get on their text list they have tons of great sales, often you can get dresses for $20, tops and bottoms for $10
  15. I'm not all that happy, but I was ready for less weight loss during the mushy phase. I saw my nutritionist today-lost 1 pound in the last week and a half!!! argh! Two weeks post surgery I had lost 10! Iknow not to be frustrated, and I go in for my first fill tomorrow, so..I posted earlier that I had been feeling hungrier, and as if I can eat more now. I'veread So many posts like this, I really shouldn't be even writing this, but I just needed to vent, y'all! Upping my Water and Protein should help-at least I didn''t gain, right? I'll try and remain positive!..

  17. I would look for protein shakes that have higher levels of protein. Some have only 10 grams of protein whereas others have 25.

    I am starving!

Thanks for all the encouragement and support! I still hate the hunger feeling but the support here makes me feel better. I usually drink the Protein shake in small sips over a 15-20 min period. I thought that was reasonable, but I am going to try to space out the ounces every hour. Sounds like it could work. Also, my bowel movements are fine. 2 yesterday and 2 today already. I keep telling my husband I can't believe I am even going because I haven't eaten any food! Lol I also have gone on small walks everyday around my neighborhood. I have a 3 yr old and a 10 month old so I take them for walks in their wagon at least twice a day.
  19. Hello Dec 19 sleevers, How are you doing? I am a bit disappointed at my progress. I have just a 4pound lost this week and I just can't comprehend that sooo early on. I have not cheated and am doing exercise about 5x a week. I must say I don't think I meet my liquids requirements and Protein. My surgeon requires liquid Protein shots that taste HORRENDOUS and I gag every time I take it, so scared of vomiting I haven't taken them. I am going to try Isopure starting today. Do you think that my slow weight lost has to do with the no protein? I would hope not. If so, I might start thinking I could have just started Atkins.......
  20. I also had a hiatal hernia repair at the same time as my surgery (3:00pm 10/20) and cannot drink enough protein. I feel full and am afraid to force too much in. Does anyone else have this problem & is this normal? The shakes i have are 27 grams protein, 170 calories & lactose free, 14 oz. How many ounces should i be drinking this soon after surgery?

    Egg Drop Soup

I agree correct answers are important. That’s why she should ask her surgeon. And, various surgeons may have various answers. My surgeon told me the information so I shared it. And yes WATER is absorbed quickly and water not absorbed moves through the digestive track. Too much water may cause toxification-rare but possible. But we are not talking about pure water in the question. Egg drop soup has solid food particles and the “soup” is the liquid membrane of an egg. But I have no desire to mince words about it or compare your MBA to my PhD or elaborate on my 10 years of Air Force service. Not sure why you felt that necessary. I will follow my doctor’s instructions, you follow yours. I’m done here.
  22. So I'm on day 10 and I just remembered that I'm supposed to be on my chewable vitamins!!....between concentrating on getting all the liquids and protein in, I forgot! Anyway, so tonight I took them slowly....but my tummy is RUMBLING and then diarrhea!!! Anybody have this problem with the vitamins? Since I'm day 10 I'm only on protein shakes, water, tea, diet Snapple and broth....maybe just the change in what I'm putting in....but it makes me not want to take them!

    Holy crap

Ok, so I had my first seminar yesterday and because I had been to one about 6 months ago, I knew what to expect. There were about 150 folks in the room and there were no seats, people standing and sitting on the floor, it was PACKED. Kids running around, people fighting over surveys, because there was only a few. It was a mad house........................ So, they proceeded to tell us what their requirements were, meaning the hospital requirements. They are as follows Meeting with the nutritionist Psych Eval Loose 10 pounds And no less than 2 additional seminars, so yesterday was seminar 1 and they only hold them once a month so I have to wait another 2 months at least, not a problem but dont understand why I have to hear the same thing over again twice, they hold the same exact seminars every month, folks I undestand its part of the committment to the surgery but how bout meeting with the nutritionist twice to quiz me if I know what I need to know, not sit in a room full of screaming kids, you couldnt even hear what they were talking about, the mic didnt work, and they had a wacked out fitness lady who everyone was laughing at because she was such a fruit cake Sounding pretty standard, right? So somebody asked what we could be doing to push though approval with the insurance and they said they dont contact the insurance company until all of the pre-op work is done. So somebody asked, well what if we do all the pre-op stuff and we dont get approved? The nurse said well I guess your out of luck. I thought you guys would think these questions were pretty funny and would love to hear your reactions. What if we cant loose 10 pounds? What if we dont have anyone to watch our kids? If we dont work can we get a date sooner than the ones that work? Is welfare going to cover the surgery? Do I live on another planet or was this just CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I beleive the surgery team and the nutritionist were very straight forward and I have confidence in the physician, etc.......but do you think it was so crazy because there were so many people there? Maybe it was unorganized? I felt like I was at a flea market...... Any thoughts?
