I'm a week out from surgery (5/14) need help with what to have on hand for the first 2 weeks. I will be on a liquid only diet, anything I can drink easily through a straw. So far I'm thinking chicken broth, miso soup, and protein shakes. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Today went great, I stayed within my calorie goal, focused on protein, the only thing missing was exercise. I will definetly get caught up on that this weekend!

I had VSG september 2010 and still not able to eat more than 2 bites at a time. I had a major leak at 6 days post op and spent 44 days in the hospital with 2 surgeries for repair. Had gallbladder removed early december 2010 due to excessive vomiting 3-4 times per day. I think I have a milk allergy and none of the protein supplements stay down. Im weak all the time and have not been back to work.

I am new to this site and came across your posting. I was curious if you are happy you chose the RnY. I am currently researching my options for a revision. Thanks for your help.

Surgery was beautiful! It was the same day as the Blizzard of 2011 ~ got to stay inpatient Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday as the hospital was basically CLOSED ~ Had my drain & staples removed today, advanced from Clear Liquids to Full ~ had a protein shake and BLENDERIZED cottage cheese, what a TREAT! Please keep the well wishes comin', I need them! Any FULL LIQUID favorites? Love to you all ! <3

Google the "cottage cheese" test. . . The pouch test will NOT show anyone their pouch or sleeve capacity. The 5 day pouch test is just to purge carbs, and get back on track with protein first.
My max capacity with the cottage cheese test at 18 months out was a whopping 4.7 or 4 and 3/4 ounces.

Hi Mrspalmours I want to know what are my options on how to get an expedited appeal with a successful approval. I have UHC EPO and I live in Fl this is my story I have UHC EPO and I live in Fla. I was denied last week for wls. The reason was because they didn't have my BMI nor my 5 year history. I notified Dr. Jawad's office about this and they assured me that they sent everything over....

hi christina I just wanted to know how you are doing and how is the protein going for you.....

Hi Diva! I am doing good. I am finally able to eat a little more so I've been getting in more protein. Very happy! Thanks for asking! How are you doing??

Wow, Tim, it sounds like you've got a lot on your plate right now (except for food)! I'm sorry things are so stressful.
I'm not on regular foods yet. I have one more week of mushies and then move on to soft foods. I'm pretty sure I'm confusing the two. I started doing much better this past week because I added fish to my diet. I did it a little earlier than scheduled, but I had to do something to get in enough protein. I told the doc about it and she is (mostly) okay with it. My weight loss is frustratingly slow. I don't know why. I'm walking on the treadmill (only fifteen minutes a day) and I'm getting my protein in and I'm not overdoing carbs or calories. I'm still not drinking enough liquids, but I'm doing the best that I can. I feel great for parts of the day and then sink into a no energy zone for a while. I sure hope this evens out.
How are you feeling? What are you eating?

Well, housework consists of doing five minutes of stuff and then sitting down for half an hour, drinking water or protein. I took my first walk since I have been home yesterday and came back sooner than I thought I would. I live in the country and the surfaces are so rough, even in my yard, I am afraid of going out and falling on my butt and busting my stitches!
I did manage to unpack two suitcases, do a load of laundry and sweep the house the day after I got home (5 days out)

I had to go back to work this week, 11 days post surgery. I was very worried about how I'd do, and honestly, I think people need two weeks off of work. Part of each day I felt great, and there were other parts that were really kind of tough.
My weight loss has stalled, but I've decided to be okay with that. I'm still not getting in every bit of protein I'm supposed to, but I'm doing better.
How are you? Glad you're home and on the mend.

Hey girlie! Yes I'm SOOOOOOOOOO much better these days. I've been walking 20 minutes everyday (up and down hill at park), cleaning, washing, cooking and basically back to normal now
. I go back to work on Monday
. Did you finish your options classes this week????
-
I'm feeling great, specially because people are starting to notice a change
. I do get a little hungry sometimes but i junst take a couple sips of protein shake and I'm good to go. I am due to start with egg beaters and mash potatos this week and as mucho as i want to eat things with more consistency im afraid to stall or to not feel restriction. Let me know that your nut says in your next visit.

So good to know about the shower! I got home Sun. afternoon.
Today has been my best day, but still not anywhere close to normal. I'm starting to get kinda emotional. I did really good on the liquid the week before, but it seems soooo much harder now! Evey night someone is bringing food for my family, and I just sit and smell it, and can't do a thing about it!! I just keep telling myself that its a little over 2 weeks and I'll start on soft foods. I'm sooo sick of protein. I really didn't think that was going to be a problem, but now I can't stand any of it.
Need prayers!! Thanks!!!
