Hi!
Sorry so late getting these to you. Here are a few I've collected. Nothing fancy but i was told the taste was good for pureed.
Pureed Recipees:
Spaghetti & Meat Sauce:
1 cup no sugar added spaghetti sauce, 2oz of 93% lean ground beef (browned), 3/4 cup pasta. Brown ground beef drain excess grease. Cook pasta. Warm sauce. Combine all ingredients blend until smooth. Makes 2 servings.
Macaroni & Cheese
1 cup baked mac & cheese, 1 cup hot milk. Blend well for 3-4 servings.
Meat Loaf
3 oz meatloaf. 1 small boiled potato, 1 small boiled carrot, 2 tbsp brown gravy, 1 cup beef boullion. Cut meatloaf, carrots, and potato into cubes. Blend until smooth for 4-5 servings.
Cottage Cheese & Fruit
1 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup cooked or canned fruit, 1/2 cup fruit juice. Blend well for 3 servings.
These and more can be found at www.netwellness.org.
Take care:)

It's going well now. It reminds me of that cliche motto for rehab, "It works if you work it." (Haven't been through rehab, but a friend has and we spent a good while mocking the obvious statement.) I lost about 30 lbs before I started eating fast food again. The portions were smaller, of course, but it's still high-fat food, so the weight loss was less and less. I got banded 12/30/08 and finally hit my -50lbs mark this week. But I'm pretty excited, because I lost 5 lbs (total, not each) these past 2 weeks just from not eating fast food junk anymore! LOL! I've also buckled down and gotten serious about working out. I can handle two days in a row, but have to take a break the third day and then start over again, lol. I did three days this week, but am gonna work up to five days for a while.
How bout you?

Its way too soon....
I am what you call a workout-aholic... I work out every day! sometimes 2 times a day depending on if I wake up in time to do it before work.
I dont cheat or even think of cheating, I drink TONS of water and eat between 950-1100 calories a day. Im very strict with my diet and I only eat good for me foods now. This bacon cheeseburger quiche was pushing it for me My daughter Loved it tho. I rarely eat beef, I mostly eat fish, turkey, and chicken.
But what has really done it is the working out. so If I could say anything just give it time and workout when you are able to again!! Good Luck!!!

Hi. Thank you for commenting on my blog. Today I went into the hospital for a right arm manipulation. I am still a bit groggy. I had over 12 weeks of therapy that didn't unfreeze it. The pain started 3 days after my lapband surgery. I can't say for sure but I assume it was caused by them tipping me up legs high to have everything slide out of the way for the surgery. My left arm had it happen a few years ago after a knee surgery so it might be hereditary joint problems or something.
As for the lap band frustration, I stuck with reading for hours on this site and felt a bit more encouraged to stick with it and try harder. I think that is what I need most is encouragement. My husband thinks he is the food police and has a prefixed WW type diet in his mind of what I should eat. It is a constant anger source for me but we had so many talks and it he won't quit with his judgemental comments and glances. So I am here everyday to make it work.

Hi I am sorry for responding to your question so late. With all the exersize it is hard to find time to get on here. But anyway losing 130 lbs is never easy but I dedicated one year of my life to exersize everyday and eat the right things. I won't eat mayo, fried foods, or fat dressings. I only drink water and skim milk. My surgeon told me that I would be lucky to lose 100 lbs. As of right now I have lost 147 so I guess I showed him. They call me their poster child which really makes me feel good. Believe in yourself and never give up and you will get what you want out of this whole process. Even if you just walk everyday it is better than sitting on the couch eating Dibs ice cream watching TV. Good luck to you! Keep me posted on your progress

I'm just looking for someone who is online now that can answer these "duh" questions about the protein drinks: Do we consider them a food or a liquid? When I eat something for breakfast i.e. boiled egg, do I have to wait an hour BEFORE I drink a protein shake (like it was a liquid) or treat it as a food and wait an hour AFTER I drink it? And since they are liquid consistency how do I get the benefit of the protein--don't they just go right through like slider foods?
I know I should probably know this but I am a bit lacking in education of the basics. I left a message for my dr office to call me, but I need to know before next week
Thanks for your response,
Scout

G'day, ur doing so well !!!! I have lost about 33lbs. A lot slower then i would like, but at least it is comming off. I have worked out it is only 1lb a week, I have 5.8cc in and think or rather am hoping by 6.5cc i will have reached my sweet spot. I can feel restriction if i eat fast and have had about 3 moments where i wondered if the food might go down but it only took a minute and i was fine. (that was with bread twice and steak once) Thankfully i am not at the point where i think i would vomit or anything. Going by only 1lb a week i should loose at least another 26lbs by the end of the year, that would mean i will be well over half way. It would be nice if i can make that goal or better yet a little more. My dream goal by the end of the year would be another 35lbs and then i will be under 200lbs and that will sound so much better
By the way i am quite tall 174cm, lol.... cause i just thought 200lbs sounds bad too. lmao

hey lady! I've been doing pretty good. Really didn't start feeling normal til 7 days post op. Yesterday and today I am pretty darn good! I've lost 12lbs post op....that was in 7 days while I was on broth and jello...now I have to eat stuff like sherbert, yogurt, pudding and creamy soups and have not lost anything. All the foods I am eating go right through I feel no restriction at all. I am going to go on my tredmill today for like 15 minutes just to see how I am feeling. Do you know when your first fill is? Mine is July 21st.

Hi, sorry it took so long for me to answer you. Good luck on your journey! I wish I could tell you I did something special but I just followed the doctors rules. Honestly I think the band adjusted my head too! The way I look at food has changed. Suddenly I Want to eat healthy. Before the band I didnt care. I do work out 5 days a week. It took me 6 months before I could say I enjoy it. Now I take several classes and love it! Let me know how you are doing. Best of luck - Diane

ok, My band is a 10cm band which means that it can hold not a whole lot more than 4-5 mls in it.. You should call your surgeon and find out more about your band. It could be handy to know..
And yes, the best and greatest thing about the band and eating less, its amazing just how little food we need to survive, and makes me realise just how much I used to over eat..

Hi Ginny, just a quick note to see how you are doing? What type of food are you up too? Soft? I got my fill on Friday, 2.5cc. Yeah!!! It didn't hurt, I felt fine and can't wait for my next one. I can still get down a lot more food than I would like to. Did you have beautiful sunshine this weekend? We did and it was wonderful. Take care. Karen

I hope you get this too - I'm new at this too and have no idea what I'm doing just yet! :0)
I know what you mean about starving. I am sooooo hungry! I get to start on "regular" food today! YAY!!! No more mooshy food! I found that the mooshy stage was the hardest. I am so sick of tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, etc. Plus, I haven't lost weight like I would like to have. I had my surgery on June 10th and I've lost 20 lbs - only 3 lbs on the mooshy diet. I'm hoping it gets better once I can incorporate veggies in my diet. I can't wait to have some grilled chicken and brocolli! 6 months ago I would have said I couldn't wait to have a big fat pizza with some german chocolate cake afterwards! haha

My surgery went great. Everybody is different but once my surgery was over, I wanted to walk around. I think I was in my room not even 5 minutes, and I asked the nurses if I could walk. I had dry mouth and felt like there was phlem in my throat but that was because of the breathing tube that they put in my mouth during surgery. They did give me some lemon swabs to take the dryness away. I didn't even have to ask for the pain meds, the nurses just came in and gave them to me whenever it was time. The heprin shots they give to prevent blood clots bruised me up. I stayed in the hospital overnight. Dr. Lutfi is very nice. I lost 37 pounds so far. 20 pounds I lost on the 2 week preop diet drinking slim fast low carb. The other 17 pounds I lost after the band was placed, but it seems it has slowed a bit because I am back on solid foods now. I have my first fill on July 14th. It is worth it though. So have you went to any classes yet?

Hi Dionne!
27.5 lbs.!!! That is awesome!
I got my third fill about a week ago and I am definitely restricted now too! I lost 4 lbs. in the first week following the fill! I think this will get things rolling again for me, as my weight loss had all but stopped too! I have lost 28 lbs. to date! We seem to be neck in neck with our progress!! It's been interesting adjusting to the new restriciton, but I am doing pretty good. I have a much harder time eating breads, muffins and buns now. I mostly avoid them. I have to stick wtih protein shakes for breakfast, because it is just too tight in the mornings for foods. But by lunch time, I can eat regular food. Thank goodness, because I am not real big on those shakes! I just found out a few days ago that I am going to my a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding in April! So, now I have even more incentive to lose this weight! Take care and let me know how you are doing with your new fill as well!
Shelley : )

tzn, I just read your message from July 28th. I am not too good with computers and didn't even know you could do this until I just got a private message today. To keep you updated I have now lost 125 lbs and am at goal. I had to be rebanded on Oct.29th due to a slippage. No problems with that but I have to start over with the liquids, pureed foods etc just like I have never been banded. I get the "1st" fill in another 3 to 4 weeks. Other than the post op diet, I can't tell any differences except I can get hungry which is kind of a new thing for me but it hasn't been hard. Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner.

hey girl, I dont believe u caused damage. Cuz I was 1 week liquids, 1 week mushies, and 1 week normal food. Im fine so I think ur fine. Maybe u r eating 2 much or need 2 chew more. Remember the more solid the food more chew chew chew u have 2 do! Listen 2 ur body and stop right b4 ur full. Then in 20 minutes u should b full. If u keep eating untill u have the full feeling then ur over eating. and u have 2 get use to eaing solids from mushies. Best of luck =)

Hi Leslie! Thanks for the message...it is nice to find people going through the same stages as you are! I am still scared about this stretching the pouch thing! I am only on the "pureed" which is really a modified pureed, for a few more days and than I can move to some more "chunky" stuff! I can eat mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, tuna/chicken salad ( very mushy), scrabbled eggs, cottage cheese, and than all of theliquid/broth stuff from the first 2 weeks! I am so excited to start eating normal stuff. I am just to scared to try stuff. I read so many people on here who have tried stuff before they were supposed to and do fine, but I am a person where I stick to the rules, I walk about 40-60 minutes a day too. I am eager to try something else like the eliptical, but at the same time I am scared to pull or tear something. Did they tell you any major restrictions? I am so glad you found me! Stay in touch so we can keep up with each others success!!!

Shonia, So glad to hear you are doing good right after surgery! You will be sore for another week of so, but it goes away! I know you are looking forward to some real food, but just do what the doctor tells you! I am doing good so far. I have lost 49 pounds since surgery on 2/13/09. I have had my ups and downs with food too. You just have certain days that things don't agree with you and your band, but they are easy to overcome! Think about the results! That's what I do.
Keep in touch...take care...follow doctor's orders! Laura

Hi there! I'm having a heck of a time figuring out the private messaging feature, so apologies for just responding now. Things are going well. I weighed in last night at 199.8 (OMG, I haven't seen this site of 200 in 6 years!!!) I had my surgery on 10/21, so total lost since then is 13.2 lbs. I've been told that's "atypical", so I'm expecting not to be losing much more in the coming weeks until my first fill which won't be probably won't be until mid to late December. Maybe Santa can bring me my first fill for Christmas LOL!
How are you feeling? Are you back to work? This freaking puree stage is killing me, but I think a couple of great friends on here that are going through this at the same time will get us all through.
Thanks for adding me to your friends list!!!!
Karen
