Well, hello collar bones.

Congrats. What a great NSV! pam -
That's the best NSV I've ever read! Extremely encouraging. Thanks so much for sharing. People at the gym can be so challenging however, you handled that situation like a pro! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Waaaaaaaa! Just felt like whining....I know it will pass...I'm sticking to the plan....but I'm pouting all the same...was sleeved on 10/26....down 56 pounds....lots of nsvs....but still felt cranky enough to whine. Thank you! -
I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm very close and have completed most of the pre-surgery homework... but I just wanted to share a pretty awesome moment I had recently! In my excitement to start my weight loss journey, I've tried to get in much more exercise in, since I'm feeling VERY gung-ho! I'm playing tennis more regularly, I went on a backpacking trip, and I just joined (again) a Cross Fit gym. ....A little backstory: I've gone up and down and up and down with my weight over the last 15+ years, yo-yo dieting and trying every exercise and eating trend in order to fight the obesity disease (sound familiar?) losing 20 or 30 pounds using these diets and workout trends, just to gain them back and more once I slip. And I don't think that people who haven't been overweight understand this, and assume that every challenge can be solved with white-knuckling the problem and often stigmatize and judge tools like weight loss surgery, rather than the traditional "just work out more"... So, anyway, back to me joining this new gym. I really liked the vibe, the trainer was totally not a "bro" trainer, he was very nice and encouraging, and the gym was filled with a variety of body types and ages. MUCH different than the last CF gym I'd gone to! I was excited! But then the trainer told me he was going to do everything in his power to convince me out of surgery (which I'd disclosed to him earlier, privately). It was like there was a spotlight on me and my choices and my weight and my seeming choice to take the "easy way out". And my social anxiety almost had me tucking back into my shell like a turtle. But here's where it gets good. OLD Sarah would have slunk down and maybe even quit the gym out of embarrassment, or worry that I'd be pressured into changing my mind on a very personal decision I've already committed to and gotten excited about and am completely ready for! OLD Sarah wouldn't have said a peep. This time, I spoke up for myself and told him that while I totally hear him, and appreciate the encouragement, I won't be changing my mind, but I WILL be trying my hardest to teach my body how to work harder and do better with his class. And then I asked, "Deal?" Right then and there I cut off the judgement and the opportunity for this (well intending) trainer to think he gets to decide for me what's best for me, instead of me! It doesn't seem like an enormous moment, probably, to most people. But I have such a confidence issue that it was a shining light into my future of even more confidence and I'm really really happy about that. So I thought I'd share it! Have any of you ever had people try and chime into your decision, try to talk you out of it, or make you feel bad for this decision? I've largely kept it pretty private, with the exception of my husband, my boss and a few close friends, because I don't want others to think they can proffer their opinion about it, when it's not their deal, it's mine! Ahhhh! Anyway, that's my pre-op non scale victory!!

October List of Surgery's
395Ron replied to 60&goin4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an NSV I had to share with you. Yesterday after work I got in the car and realized how much room was between me and the steering wheel. Before I could not turn the wheel around with one hand because my belly would get in the way. There used to be no room between my belly and the steering wheel. Now I have a LOT of room between me and the steering wheel. -
Let's talk about some NSV for the week
BCs 1000 replied to GibbsGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was a tiny spot on a bench seat on the train today. I was able to easily fit my little butt in there. It was easily half the size of any gap I would attempt to sit in pre surgery. Why are my NSVs always about using public transport??? -

I fit in some capris that were too tight the Saturday before, wore them to church and froze. -
As I was rushing to get to work today, it was time to put on my shoes. I didn't see my 24" shoe spoon around to help me put them on. I reached down and slipped my two fingers into the heel and easily slid my foot into the shoe. I could have been doing this for weeks and just didn't realize it! I was sooooo accustomed to using the shoe spoon, I didn't realize my surgery had eliminated another issue. I am more and more grateful EVERY DAY for this second chance at a wonderful life.

How about some NSVs!?!?
maggie409 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I assume you are talking post op. But either way, I got mine the first few months post op with Premiere Protein drinks from Wal-Mart. They are 11 oz and have 30 gr of protein. Two of those get you the minimum. Also early on Isopure Protein waters from GNC were a lifesaver for me during the all liquid stage. Some people don't like the flavor but personally I enjoyed them. Especially over ice. They come in several different flavors and taste like kool-aid. If you mean pre-op or after the liquid phase, I eat lots of rotisserie chicken or grilled chicken. My favorite yogurt is Danon Lite & Fit with 12 gr of protein per serving. Also the chocolate on top flavors really satisfy my desert cravings when I have them. Grilled or baked fish is great also. Just be sure the package says "wild caught" and not farm raised. My other option for extra protein is in the deli section or your store. They are the Oscar Mayer P3 protein packs. They have nuts, cheese and deli meats. A great snack and each package has 11 or 12 grams of protein My NSV... I got to shop on the right side of Catos last week!! Some super cute stuff -
The truth....even though it comes from unforeseen sources....makes it no less the truth. Perhaps acceptance of this and staying true to my sleeve will be my greatest NSV. So many changes.....coming on so fast. Time to slow the roll, reflect on things and take it one day at the time. Time to just do me for a while.

Oh I almost forgot to mention, my other NSV this week. We had big pants day at my WLS support group meeting. I brought a dress that used to fit really well. (I made it for myself so it was literally made for me!) I always got compliments for how nice I looked when I wore it. None of my support group had ever seen me where it however, but I decided to show them the difference of almost 55 lbs. by slipping it on over my clothes. Even before I could look up from arranging it on myself, the whole room gasped! Aside from the fact that it was about 3 inches longer than it used to be, I couldn't figure out what the shock was about. I had to ask my WLS SG friend sitting next to me why everyone gasped and she said, "because it looked like you were wearing a tent!" I can tell I am smaller, but sometimes I dont' think others can necessarily tell. I don't hear it anyway except from my friends and family who know. But the spontaneous surprise from a whole room of people many of whom had never met me before was priceless! pam

NSV shout outs
WLSResources/ClothingExch replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@mngreeneyes -- Your towel NSV is gorgeous, but wasn't one of your reasons for losing weight to embrace indecency? Get it on, girl, parade that towel proudly right down the middle of Fifth Avenue. St. Patrick's Day will be the perfect time. -
First NSV, the bath towel ends meet! I wrapped my towel around me this week and noticed that for the first time in recent memory, the bath towel wrapped all the way around and met from top to bottom! Of course if I moved, it became indecent, but since I live alone no one was around to worry about! Second NSV, I had to go buy new pants for work for the first time since surgery. I have gone from a 24 pants to now an 18W. I managed to find two pair of serviceable black dress pants WITH POCKETS and no elastic at the consignment store and with my store credit, I paid $7.50 for 2 pair! These should last for at least a month I am guessing before I have to find something smaller again! I have lots of other size 18-20 clothes that fit, but there were no black dress pants in the box in storage. No more mooning anyone when I get out of my desk chair! pam PS I lost about 5 lbs the end of last week and over the weekend, but haven't lost since Monday so I must be "right sizing" this week!

I was cleaning out my closet and found the 3x pair of scrubs I wore the day before surgery. I can fit both legs in one leg!!! So cool! AND I wore my daughters outfit yesterday. This is so much fun! Thank you Jesus for giving me the renewed life I have now. You probably can't tell but those scrubs were tearing at the seam they were so tight. 14 months later and I wear a small. That's all, just thought I'd share. Hope everyone is winning their own battle! Stay strong, it's worth the efforts. I cut my head off the scrub picture because I was looking a hot mess. I was cleaning!

Update: so I haven't weighed myself in a few days, thanks to my wonderful time of month appearing [emoji107]I guess it's a good thing since I will show a bigger loss (hopefully) I'm still on Full liquids and have eaten tomatoe soup everyday for lunch and I'm finally over it. I'm still working on getting to 60 grams of protein and 64oz of liquid but my little tummy is struggling. I currently am about 50 ounces of liquid and 45 G protein today, but I will get there. I'm starting to feel better each day, and the soreness in my side is not as intense - now only if I can get comfortable enough at night so I can get a good nights sleep [emoji120] Small NSV my clothes are getting tooooo loose, I find myself trying on multiple items just so I don't look frumpy and I put on jeans yesterday without needing to unbuckle them [emoji15] woohoooooo I must say I am proud of my progress and can't wait until I'm cleared for high intensity workouts [emoji123]???? -
NSV shout outs elevator doors opened with a crowd of people one person said something like "come in there's plenty of room for you to fit" kathy

These are great NSV's!! Way to go everyone! It's exciting to hear some that I hadn't thought about before and can add to the list of things I look forward to with my new body.
-
I'm only 20lbs down but I had my first NSV today because a pair of jeans that were too tight on the thighs and just about did up on the waist (but couldn't be worn in public) no fit me and are even a little loose. I have a bag of plus size clothes in different sizes from past closet sort outs as my weight changed because I don't want to spend money on new clothes until I hit regular sizes, but my wardrobe is going to be very limited until then as the only clothes I had was that bag and the ones I brought home in my suitcase.
