Just when you think you've figured out your band(BAM) IT TAKES A NEW TURN!! I have resceduled three fill appointments because one minute I'm loose and the next minute I'm tight! How and when do I know it's time. I'm not rushing to get a fill and then be fustrated when I'm to tight. It's been almost 2 1/2 months since my last fill. But sometimes I can eat way to much and then sometimes I can't hardly get water down. I have been almost the same weight for the last 1 1/2 months, but scared to get a fill because sometimes I am just to tight. It's 7 months and I would like to know if it will get a little better for me ? I just don't know what to do! If someone could relate please let me know!! Oh and I started walking for the last few days and lost 1 lbs. I was so excited this morning when I got on that scale.

Most people report only PBing the chunk of food that was stuck. When this happens to me I loose my entire meal and then remarkable I am not hungry for at least 4hrs. I like most others find this with real protein. Chicken, pork and some fish. I don't seem to have problems with mixed foods like casseroles, enchiladas, chili, tacos, I love a good grilled pork chop or chicken breast. I don't think I can chew long enough or eat slowly enough to keep these down at this time.

6 weeks today, on a 4 week STALL! HELP!
KristinJ78 replied to Tracytma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me it is very dangerous territory to set a timeline on the number of pounds lost. That can lead to some really destructive and counterproductive behavior. Are you tracking your food? Are you getting in all of your protein and fluids? What is your protein target? Are you avoiding starches, added sugars, and fried foods? Are you taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed? Are you exercising? It sounds to me like you are doing fine, especially if you have noticed that you are losing inches. Please resist the urge to restrict your protein, it won't help you lose the weight your surgeon expects and will slow things down even more. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall I'm meeting a minimum of 64 oz water, 65 g protein, and have been tracking my food. I take Snacks of a cheese stick and deli meat to work and have a 4oz meal prepared for lunch or dinner and am lucky to get get half of it down before I'm full. (Experienced that "one bite too much" too often now)... I refuse to eat anything fried and no bread. The only starch I'll have are these protein enriched mashed potatoes which my NUT gave me the recipe for and I do keep track of everything. Even the accidental bite of ranch dressing yesterday at my second job as I filled the salad dressings. (Immediately felt awful and knew it was a bad habit that had to be broken) Vitamins, Calcium, and hair-skin-nails, all of them are being taken as they should daily. Getting to the gym isn't always easy but I do go at least 4 times per week and walk another 7 miles a day. (4 at work, 3 at home). It's driving me nuts that I'm at this stall and the scale is going up even just a little. Sent from my iPhone -
:confused:So, Im new to this and dont really know how this works...Im really needing some people that have some things in common with me or that can some what help me through this. So I am 22 years old and had the lap band on Dec. 20, 08. I am down 15 pounds so far. I was in doubt with the surgery just a few days ago because I am so hungry. And I was thinking about all of the foods people say that I cant have and it just depresses me. I love breads and pasta but once I seen the scale go down, I feel a bit better. I am disappointed with myself though because I am on the liquid diet and I have ate some whole foods in very small portions. It is so tempting but I am working on it. I go to my doctor tomorrow and hopefully I dont get in trouble. At times I Feel I can do this but other times, it is alot. I worry about alot of things. If anyone can help me, please let me know. I am 5'6 and my starting weight was 275lbs. I am now down to 260lbs. Can anyone tell me about extra hanging skin or anything? I need someone to talk to! THanks

How Many Fills before you started losing well
Jodi_620 replied to JOSIEGURL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first fill rarely does it. There is not a straight answer for how many it took for me. Each fill was better. Fill three was great, I lost fast within the first two weeks then the band got loose and I needed another fill. Fill four was the same thing so two weeks later I had to have fill five that was six weeks ago and I have been losing steadily 2 pounds a week. -

Wonder if any others here had pain like I had...
Albacheeser posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm one month post-op. Surprisingly, I had NO pain in my gut and NO pain post-op regarding the CO2 Gas that everyone warns about. It does NOT hurt to press down on my gut or anything like that. HOWEVER, I have had the ANNOYING pain and/or discomfort of painful sensitivity around the scars and numbness the lower abdomen away from the scars for some reason. I've always been quite ticklish and the surface of my skin has always been somewhat sensitive to the touch so maybe that is playing into this. In any event, if I take my hand and gently rub my tummy it actually Hurts. My shirt rubbing my tummy also is quite annoying. BUT BUT, if press down or squeeze it does NOT hurt. Go figure. -
Still Swollen And Can Actually Feel The Lap Band Port
Cocoabean replied to Mimi122's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My port feels like a little rock under my skin. It is a piece of hard plastic. Totally normal for it to feel so. -
Thanks for the success story. Congrats to you. I am doing good so far. I eat often but only a little at a time. This works very well for me. I don't stay hungry or crave anything all day. I'm only 5 weeks post op & have lost 23 so far. I don't care how long it takes to loose weight as long as it keeps coming off.

Soooo Bloated after Lap Band Surgery
kinglinda56 replied to deb8735's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lap Band 10/25/2013 - Can't tolerate broth nor sugar free popsicles. Yesterday afternoon, Monday, 29th first episode of attempting vomiting. Dry heaves x6 along with sweaty skin and feeling weak. Tuesday morning my husband went to store and got Ensure Clear for me to drink. So far I have had 2. Did I mention how much I hate water? Always have, guess I always will but must struggle on. Still feeling bloated. Taking Phazyme for gas and passing but bloat back up again. Shoulder strap pain from being "blowed up" doesn't feel good but at least it doesn't scare me............................ -
Well things have gotten much better since my last fill. 2 weeks of hell afterward seem like a thing of the past now. I still find it difficult to eat anything in the mornings even after I've had 2-3 cups of coffee. Usually I just have my coffee and then a protein supplement. Lunch has been touch and go. Sometimes I can eat sometimes I can't and its another protein supplement. It seems like the flood gates are wide open at night though. By dinner time I'm usually loose enough to eat most things. But I still watch what I eat and keep the portion small, 1/2 to 1 cup of food and I'm done. I did discover today that deviled eggs are working for me. Last night I grilled hamburgers baked beans and deviled eggs for the family. I ate about 1/3 cup of beans, about 3 oz of a hamburger patty and 1 deviled egg. Today at lunch I ate 3 (halves)deviled eggs and had no problem keeping it down. Tonight I went with my DH and DD to a buffet restaurant. I started out with a bowl of cream of broccoli soup It was sooo good! Then I ate 2 small pieces of fish and 2 shrimp with lots of cocktail sauce also a couple of bites of mack and cheese and 2 bites of my DH steak. I steered clear of the desert bar and ice cream machine! Yeah Me! I'm still averaging about 1 pound every 3 days which is supposed to be average. I know it could be more and would be if I would exercise more! The problem is that right now in KY the heat and humidity have put the heat index at 105-110 every day. I'm not a morning person during the summer time and by the time I get up at 8 - 9:00 it's already to hot to walk. I have to wait until 9:00 at night to walk my 2 mile route. But my DS is on 2 baseball teams and for the past week I've been at the ballpark every night, but 1 until at least 10:00. I did walk on the 1 night that I was not at the ballpark. But I know it needs to be more. I just don't like walking that late at night by myself! I am starting to get a little nervous though as it is getting close to time for Aunt Flo to visit again. That's when I went through the 2 weeks of liquid hell last month. The week of Flo being here and the week after. I was filled 2 days before her visit and I'm pretty sure that I'm one of those people that retains so much water during that time that it makes my band tighter! I guess time will tell and I'll know in about another week or so!

Julie no profile/ticker (hint, hint ) have you gained??? how much wt do you need to lose???? inquiring minds (and nosey me ) want to know!!!! actual "official" #s are not really the issue the important thing is you are back on the right track now!!! you had major surgery 10 months ago - maybe slipped up a bit but you know you must (you will!!) get back to the issues/rules at hand "maybe" go on a liquid diet for a few days to give you a jump start Protein shake(yum yum ) et al then back to yogurt, cottage cheese et al small portions, chew thoroughly since you are getting back on the horse, i would keep my calorie count on the low side for a bit do/can you still see your NUT or doc for help/advice??? go to a support group what have you got to "LOOSE"??? always gives me motivation might work for you, hearing other situations hearing from newbies and their early struggles swap your stories too, you'll get more involved IMO with the "life of the sleeve" we/you will/must live this life for the rest of our healthier, happier, longer lives i think the Water rules are the most important, and can be the hardest at times to follow stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat NEVER, EVER, EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less ) after you eat, don't drink for around 45 minutes drink 64+ oz of H20 a day have you been watching the boards still??? if not..........keep reading about, ask more questions being 10 months PO - you can spread some of your wisdom around too for NEWBIES et al we can't ever forget this is a FOREVER deal we made with the devil!!! (or angel  ) you can do this!!!!! i know you can!!!!! one day at a time, right???? welcome back good luck kathy

"you Look Tired"
MegInNOLA replied to lessofmeismore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, and I would add, vitamins and water! Be sure you're hydrated--when I don't get enough water, my skin gets all icky and I get circles under my eyes. Water= energy for me. -
Congrats to you!!! I'm sure those 16's will fit and even be loose on you very soon. Keep up the great work!

Fraid not. I dont have many stretchmarks, I dont know why, just lucky. I have a few over my hips, but after 3 babies, I guess I've basically got good skin. Lucky not to have an apron. But the cellulite on my thighs and backside, if anything, its worse than it was because now its not filled out tight with fat, its a bit more jiggly. Dont even ask about my boobs, lol. I think childbirth and breastfeeding has done way more damage than weight though.

HELP!! ABNORMAL ACNE AND I'M 26!! I NEED A SOLUTION!
elizabeth_ahmad replied to TheNewStephy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you are describing cystic acne. That can be a symptom of PCOS. You really should go see an ob/gyn or an endocrinologist and have your hormones checked. Even if it is not PCOS, getting a blood work up is a good thing to see if anything else may be awry. PCOS is an endocrine disorder that affects 5-10% of women in their reproductive years. PCOS stands for poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. It is a not a disease as there is no known cause, but a syndrome (list of symptoms). There is a correlation between insulin resistance and PCOS as well as obesity, however; PCOS can develop in women at any age and weight. PCOS symptoms include weight gain, mainly in the abdomen, cystic acne along the jaw line and chin, absent or irregular menstrual cycles, male pattern hair (chin, chest, back, etc), male pattern baldness, inability to loose weight or looses very slowly no matter what the amount of food or exercise, infertility and miscarriage due to hormonal imbalances usually involving insulin resistance and too many androgens (male hormones) in the body. Many women with PCOS also suffer from depression and skin issues, like eczema, have elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. PCOS cannot be cured, but it can be managed with medications and life style changes. I have PCOS. I developed symptoms at age 16 but was not properly diagnosed until 24. I have been struggling with it and my eating forever. I just got banded on 11/29. I hope with weight loss, some of the symptoms will decrease. Oh, don't try popping cystic acne. They are so deep seated that you will only get minimal release, and it will only inflame them worse; or they won't pop at all without a razor to open it. They can also leave nasty scars. You can try hot cloths on them to relieve the pain and try an over the counter hydrocortisone cream to relieve the inflammation. You may want to consider a dermatologist to see what cleansers and medications that may work for your acne. Good luck. -

I have got exactly the same problems as u have with skin. Even now i would rather have skin and be my size now than when i weighed 400lbs. I cover up a lot, do your zumba in leggings.. tight ones! .. they help a lot, same with the arms, its a price we pay for being fitter and healthier, loose skin is your badge of honour ....i might hate it but i am proud of it -

twoboysandagirl replied to laylasmojo's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Tomorrow I am two weeks out. My surgeon requires a two day pre op diet of liquids only but I also had to loose ten % of excess weight before they would make a date. I have lost that and trying to lose a little more. Curious what was your two week diet? I am kind of doing a low carb/sugar, low fat, high protein diet. Some days I have just done protien shakes for morning or lunch and just a regular dinner. Congrats on your success! Your doing Great! -
Hi Rocky I hope you are feeling better. I am feeling a bit better myself. I am also optimistic that the swelling will go down. I do worry that it will swell again when they close it again. However, I know that every pound I loose will give it a bit more room so since I am on liquids anyway I am sure I will loose a few pounds in the next 4 weeks. Also, my doctor said that the procedure to close it is not even close to the amount of trauma to the body as when the band was put on. So I think everything will be fine. I am glad your band is still hooked and you can get fluids in. The swelling will go down soon. You have stuck it out this far a day or 2 will make a big difference in swelling.

I just got back from my second fill - he only went up .5 cc - anyway, he said that some people lose inches not lbs for a while then lbs start falling off and some people lose lbs first but no inches - it is weird but that is what he said was normal. My port is still sticking out like an egg but he thinks it may continue to go down - it is a whippin to get it moved - have to go under another general and have another surgery - I hope he is right saying he thinks it will go down more - it is literally right under my skin - I can feel the port.

Help. Rash After Band

When an elephant is young and weak, an animal trainer ties its leg to a short wooden stake in the ground. In the beginning, the young elephant tries to escape. It struggles against the rope that holds it in place. For several days, the rope keeps rubbing the same spot on the elephant’s leg. The rope finally wears through the elephant’s tough outer skin, and cuts into the elephant’s soft pink flesh. The pain is excruciating. It’s the worst thing the animal has ever felt. The elephant soon learns that pulling and struggling against the rope will only bring him pain, so he doesn’t struggle anymore. The elephant grows to be a 12,000 pound monster-sized animal. It could physically crush the animal trainer like a small bug. But it doesn’t. The animal trainer still keeps it tied up. To the same short wooden stake. If the elephant tried, it could snap the wooden stake in half by simply shifting its weight. But it doesn’t. It doesn’t think it can break free of the stake because of the early experiences it had trying to break free. It thinks the outcome will be pain, instead of freedom. Isn't food just like that little stake? Something that has caused us so much pain and failure? Something that has held us back from so much? I am finding that the "mental" part of this "breaking free" is the key for me.

Help. Rash After Band
dhales replied to Luv2sing920@aol.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a weird rash in various spots on my tummy, then under my chest. I asked my doc about it...and he said Yeast infection. They give you a huge amount of antibiotic via IV when you go in for surgery. That plus your immune system is traumatized can make you suseptible to a skin yeast infection. He gave me a pill and it went away in a week.
