    Do anyone snack sometimes

My NUT says 6 200 calorie meal/snack with at least 10 grams protein each I do Protein shake with coffee 2, babybell cheese, lean cusine, greek yogurt, small portion of dinner and then special K protein cereal at night. I will also change up and do some of the products from my doctors office at times or indulge at night instead of my cereal
  2. So I got about three sips of protein drink down. And tried to eat a yogurt but only could eat a spoonfull in 20 mnts. Wow. This is going to be harder than I thought to get protein. Anyone else on this finding it hard?
  3. Well I was banded on oct 19th. I have not gotten my first fill yet. But I know my Dr. told me that whenever I get hungry and stop loosing weight to come in right away. As far as your menu I think you should cut down on your carbs and add more protein. Especially in the morning. Try a boiled egg and fat free yogurt to start you off. For the next week just try no carbs and that should jump start your loss again. I have stuck to this as well as excercise and have lost almost 30pounds in 4 weeks. Try also keeping a food journal. That really helps me stay on track. I am consious of everything that goes in my mouth. If it has no nutrional value I dont eat it. oh yeah wendys chili has lots of protein so try that for lunch. I hope this helps. Good luck on your journey.

    Weight Loss

Hello Chad! I went in for my second fill today. I've lost 31 lbs in two months. I have a BMI of 37.1 now (woohoo) I was told that I am way ahead of the curve because it is usually around 5lbs a month. I attribute my success to low fat, high quality foods. Yogurt or egg for bfast. Grilled lean meat/fish and veggie for lunch and dinner. I add whole wheat cous cous or Beans for carbs but at a very low quantity. Snacks are ff cheese or 1/2 fruit. And I exercise as much as I can.

  9. Kashi GoLean Orginial is good too. One cup is a serving with Protien at 13 grams, Fiber at 10 grams, sugar only 9 grams and 160 calories. I asked for a Yogurt maker for Christmas so my daughters and I are going to try our hand at making our own. My youngest is Lactose Intolerant so we are going to try making plain yogurt Lactose free so we can add stuff to it. We found some sugar-free syrups at wal-mart quite cheap.
  10. I had my 4th fill on Saturday afternoon. I was told to be on liquids the rest of the day. (which I did) I could immediately tell the difference. I had trouble getting the liquid down. I did it... but it took a while. Sunday I advanced to having some chili. I could only have about 6 or 7 bites. For Snacks I could only eat half a yogurt Same thing is going on today. I tried having Soup for dinner but couldn't even eat a cup. I have had such a hard time getting the restriction I want (need) thus far. Is this the way it's supposed to be? I'm hesitant to get unfilled because I'm afraid of not enough restriction. Sorry to be a pain.... just looking for help before I decide what to do. (also...I seem to have the flu right now... could that make me tighter too?) Thanks guys!!
  11. Try something like thin mashed potatoes (regular or sweet), or creamy polenta. Everybody is different, but you are allowed yogurt and puddings (at least I was) in the liquid stage. I also found homemade chicken broth with farina made a nice soup/stew and varied it up. I could handle that stuff more than I could a scrambled egg. You can get creative, just start really small and make sure your stomach can handle it. DON'T GO FOR THE HAMBURGER. It sounds tempting, but you will regret it. Your stomach is extremely sensitive, and you need to go slow when you start introducing foods or you will get very sick (not a pleasant experience). The last thing you want to do is go under the knife to fix a leak because you gave into the craving. I am 6 months out, and its be best decision I ever made (and now I can eat hamburger, well a mini one!)
  12. In order to continue to drop weight you need to remain at 600-800 calories a day. I feel like thats the most important thing to keep losing. All those calories should come mostly from protein.Eggs, fish, steak, ground beef, lentil, beans, shrimp, greek yogurt ,cottage cheese and cheese sticks. You need 75 or more grams of protein a day also important. Drink 64 or more ounces of water a day. When I dont drink water my weight stalls, I think because the body cant remove waste without enough.Take your vitamins daily to keep energy levels up. Try to exercise 3-5 days a week. Measure your food and blog it in myfitnesspal.com. It allows you to see daily protein intake ,calories, carbs etc..Measuring cups, spoons and a scale are also very helpful. Good luck on your journey
  13. As a Kaiser patient the surgeon and nutritionist had me on clears for 3 days only and then onto full liquids for the next 12 days, then transitioned to pureed/soft diet. Full liquids include thinned hot cereals, creamy soup, yogurt, sugar free puddings and regular protein shakes. This helps ALOT. Perhaps this might be an option for you...many of us use this time line with no ill effects. Good Luck!

GREEK OR YOPLAIT... WHICH ONE HAS MORE PROTEIN

Greek has more protein that regular yogurt. But check your label as many of them are full of sugar. You will want to choose the one's that are not so heavy in calories.

    Question

Plain Greek yogurt and tons of Protein supplement! I'm in my second week post op and am finding that in the liquid stage, pretty much the only way I get protein is through supplements. It also takes forever to drink one. I've found that if I blend chocolate, vanilla, or banana with ice and plain greek yogurt, I'm getting tons of protein in one glass so I only have to drink one in the morning and one at night to get my protein in. The rest of the time I'm eating Jello, pudding, popsicles, or broth. Good luck!
  17. "Ch-ch-ch-ch-chia!" They are tasty, good for us, and even decorative on a clay figurine. Seriously, though, I love chia seeds sprinkled on my Greek yogurt. Pre-op, I would eat oatmeal, topped with Greek yogurt and then Chia seeds. Now I don't eat the oatmeal, but still very good.
  18. Hello everyone! thought I would give an update as to how things have gone for me. I had my pre op visit with Dr. Johnell in Greeley Co. I got on the scale and to my suprise I had lost 8 lbs prior to surgery My surgery was on Oct. 5th at about 1:00 p.m. but went very 'routinely' I woke up later in the day and looked at my tummy and thought "well....I can't change my mind now!" lol. I lay in my bed for a bit longer then began walking the halls, I read the sooner your up and moving the better, I believe it is a true statement. After 3 'walks' I was sitting in my room and a lady I didn't recognize came in with a bouquet of flowers, at first I thought she may have the wrong room but soon learned that it was Hopeful1! (denise) what a sweet heart to bring me flowers! so what do two people from lapband.com do when they first meet? well I raised my gown and showed her my incision! lol It was so great meeting her and visiting face to face. The next morning after going in and swallowing the barium solution to make sure that my band was allowing liquid to flow through properly I was able to eat 1oz. portions every 15 min. of Jello, juice, decaf coffee, broth. The ride home (5 hrs) was fine and I only snoozed slightly, I was glad to be going home. The first 2 days were ok, I slowly sipped Water and drank my protien drink mostly for Breakfast and ate about 2 tablespoons of mashed potatos for lunch and a protien drink or Soup for supper. Now the 3rd day through the 7th was very rocky for me and I wondered if I had done the right thing by doing this surgery! I was in pain mostly at night (sore, felt dehydrated, TIRED,) had gas badly! so chomped down a few GasX and that worked very well. When I had gone in for my first week checkup I had lost another 13 lbs! I am now 3 weeks out and can truthfully say I am very happy that I have had the surgery.... Every day seems a little different as I am getting to know my band. After my first visit I was told I couldn't have a fill for 5 weeks due to healing process, I won't lie, I have been one starving women! after your fleet, broth and protien drinks and hardly any restriction....... I feel like the 'old' me is back, then all of a sudden, I get a little restriction and I remember what it feels like and can't wait to get my first fill or two. I will admit I didn't stick to the 'diet' as well as was directed. I eat what taste and feels good, by that I mean chicken fixed in my pressure cooker, fish, a few veggies and very little fruit, yogurt, potatos, Soups. I have to talk to myself to stay with smaller portions but have realized the quanity I am eating is about 1/2 of my 'old' ways with out trying to hard to hold back. I went out for breakfast the other morning and ordered a meal from the senior menu, showed them my lapband card, and the waitress said oh, ok sure. I was happy with myself for not being embarrassed to show my card and explain my situation. She come back out with a full meal instead of half, and said "sorry we didn't have a half meal back there". I looked at her and said please bring me a box....now,and I would love some more decaf coffee. My take home box was back at our table lickety split, I was determined that if she didn't bring it right away I wasn't leaving a tip. I wondered if I could stop at half the meal, I was scared I might be able to eat the whole thing! Nice to report that I ate my protien first, ( 1 egg, maybe half chicken fried steak chewed thoroughly!!!!! with some gravy) and never touched my hash browns, put it all in the box and wasn't hungry all day! didn't even think about the box sitting in the fridge! my son ate it the next morning for breakfast. I know I should be eating pureed foods but I am cutting very, very small bite sized bites, I have found I needed something to 'chew' on I had enough liquids! I seem to be staying fuller longer than pureeing my meat, I do believe the doctors ask you to stay as close to the recomended diet as possible so as not to irritate your band or tummy while it goes through the healing stage and I quite agree as I had an experience I won't soon forget! I popped a normal size bite into my mouth without thinking about it and chewed slightly and swallowed but it was to late! it hit my stomach like a ton of bricks! felt like it was lodged between the band and stomach, also felt like your having a heart attack! wouldn't recomend that experience right off the bat to anyone! So now whenever I chew my meat I CHEW and CHEW my meat!. Not sure if I have lost any weight since my first week post op visit, I was told I was on my own and had to have some will power and not to be upset if I didn't lose any or maybe gained a lb or two, I decided I would try a little test with myself, to not weigh in until my first fill Nov.18th. I wanted to try and 'feel' my weight loss if any, so far I have begun walking and trying a little bit of aerobics, no stomach exercises yet, still abit sore, maybe more afraid lol, and smaller portions of food. What I am finding is some of my more 'fatty' spots are trimming away, under my arms, my hips, legs, could be more toning from the walks than losing but I wanted to learn to not get all hung up on the scale, and realize I will have those times where I am going to be plateauing and my body is catching up. I asked my 15 year old son "Hey, can you tell that I have lost any in my tummy yet?" he looked at me for a second and smiled and said " mom! your face looks alot thinner already!" LOLOL I know I have written a book but wanted to catch you all up on my new life adventure! To all wondering and waiting on surgery, just my opinion, I am so happy I made the decision....... takin' baby steps! Maurine Maurine

    Yogurt

Get a low sugar Greek yogurt, blend with Fairlife milk. If you're in the South, Publix has a great yogurt smoothie called B'More. I love those. Sent from my Nexus 6P using the BariatricPal App

    8 days post op

I am 8 days out, as well. Down 21 pounds. I feel hungry, lightheaded and sluggish, too. Yesterday I had about 1 Tbs. of pureed cottage cheese and for dinner I had 2 Tbs. of plain mashed potatoes. I also got in all my liquids, a Protein shake, Jello and yogurt. My biggest problem is night hunger. My stomach and head are waking me up in the middle of the night. Trying to eat or drink some kind of protein before bed to stave that off. Hang in there! We are traveling this journey right alongside of you! I have just showered and washed my hair. Resting before I dry my hair. Took out my last staple this morning. Kinda scary but I'm glad it is out even though I got very dizzy after I pulled it out. We are having heavy storms here today. Just trying to stay calm and follow the plan.

    Yogurt

I put yogurt with milk in the blender and made a shake. I could use regular yogurt, not Greek cause it is too thick.

    First 6 Months

i can eat anything, but my hubby is diabetic and does most of the cooking so 99% of whats in our house is diabetic friendly, and he doesnt care for sweets like i do. so......almost anything from a diabetic cookbook is healthy, they have recipies for pizza, tacos, hamburgers , also side dishes, breads and desserts. we make a diabetic friendly thick spagetti meat sauce and use it over whole wheat pasta or by itself. yummy ! we eat lots of baked fish, brown rice and salads too. also try the book called "Fix it and forget it diabetic cookbook" for the crockpot or the others in the series . great recipies ! try frozen yogurt or weight watchers ice cream for the sweet tooth . good luck !

    Day 3 Pre-op (with Recipe)

Day 3 of the pre - pre-op diet.. lol I started a week early just to ease my way into it. The first day the 1st protein shake was HORRIBLE. The 2nd one was tolerable. Day 2 I started off right, created a protein shake that was on the verge of delicious. Then I got derailed by some chocolate chip cookies with skim milk (because yeah that skim milk makes ALLLLLL the difference lol) and a pollo asado burrito for dinner.. WHAT??? It's protein... lol Ok so I fell off yesterday but I knew I would, that's why I did this a week early. Despite my falling off, everyone made comment about how great I looked and my energy level and I must admit I felt GREAT. People were asking me how much weight I've lost lol.. Umm I've been on a diet for 2.5 days, how much do you expect me to lose??? Lol but you know what? I will RECEIVE those compliments and how I feel! Today I ate a cucumber like it was THE BEST candybar I'd ever had.. I think I was just excited for the texture lol, but I also played around with some shake recipes which I will be posting here in my blog as I develop and taste them. Today's shake: 4oz Healthy Balance Apple Juice 2 tbsp vanilla non-fat yogurt (be careful with the sugar/carbs etc in your yogurt. Greek yogurt is best if you can find it - LOTS of protein, low carbs and little to no sugar.) 1 scoop vanilla Designer Whey protein mix handful of icecubes. Mix or blend, whichever you prefer, I've tried it both ways and they're both delicious. Well as delicious as it can be lol. Tomorrow I'll do one with Acai juice and see how it turns out. If you try the shake let me know what you think.
