    Wendy’s salads

Okay I just tried it for lunch based on your recommendation and I agree. I usually don’t even like vinigarette dressings but I loved it and of course the little candied pecans are delicious too. I am interested to know how they figure it has 39 grams of protein though cause it didn’t seem like alot of chicken. I know nuts have protein too but still. I question that it was that much protein. I think I may take it home and weigh it next time out of curiosity. Maybe it’s cause it’s cut in cubes instead of strips it just doesn’t look like as much?? Or maybe because I ordered it without blue cheese and they made it in a hurry they put less chicken on? Ooh well either way it’s very good and only 10 minutes away from me so I’m sure I will be back. I’m thinking Parmesan Cesar next time. 👍. i just checked Walmart and Publix online and they don’t carry the dressing, Amazon does but you have to get three bottles. Idk why they do that.

WLS (sleeve) schedule for 4/26th 😁

The hair loss generally lasts about three months. This is the same for the people who didn’t take supplements like biotin & those who did. The hair you’ll lose is already dead & would have been shed anyway. The stress of the surgery & weight loss accelerate your natural hair loss cycle but your natural hair regrowth remains unchanged. So while you’re losing hair, you’re still growing new hair. It is only the new hair that may benefit from any supplements. During the first month you often feel weak, have low energy, experience some brain fog & shorter concentration spans. But we are all different in our recovery. A friend was back at work after a week no issue. Another took three weeks. Me, I still struggled after 4 weeks but my BP was very low (but that is my normal).

    Weight Gain

A little late in the game but I agree with everything mentioned above. Three week stall, watwr weight, etc. as long as you are sticking to your plan it will break.
  4. Be thankful you’re not hungry. I’m on day one of my three week pre op diet and I’m definitely hungry. I’m hoping this gets better.
  5. my diet was all liquid plus four protein shakes a day, so first of all, consider yourself lucky that you can have a meal! secondly, since your eating very few carbs, your body is likely in ketosis. It usually happens after three or four days of ultra-low carb eating. It was that way with the all-liquid diet, too - after about four days, it got easier because I wasn't so ravishingly hungry.
  6. Hi all, I’m six months post VSG and 85 pounds down. I started working out (CrossFit 4x a week) about three weeks ago and find myself STARVING during the day and eating too much (about 1600-1700 calories) not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience when starting exercise. Lmk!

    6 months out

You have lost 85 pounds since surgery, congratulations. You may just be in a stall. I believe they typically last a week or two but have heard many people on here have them last three weeks or even a month. If you are sticking to your plan 100% it is just a stall and it will lift soon. If you are winging it you may want to start logging your calories and measuring things again just so you have that info to give to your nutritionist when you speak with them if the stall does not break soon.

    Feeling kind of devastated…

I had my plastic surgeries (body ones, anyway - I had my face done later) three and four years ago. Things change as time goes on - my breasts, especially, look different than they did right after surgery. They dropped and look a lot more natural now. I was shocked after surgery - but now they look great and I'm so glad I did this. you need to give it a lot more time because they're going to look a lot different six months from now than they do now. If you're still unhappy with them at that point, they can do implants. But you may be surprised and turn out to be really happy with them... (P.S. of course, your thighs won't change since there was no surgery on them. I never had mine done because mine were never that bad, but still, they have a little hanging skin on them whereas I don't have that anywhere else - so I suppose it looks weird - but I'm in my 60s so my mini skirt and short shorts days are long behind me. If it mattered, I'd have those done, too.

    Squatty Potty did it!

I co-led one of the pre-op classes at my clinic for three years (i.e., before COVID hit), and my co-leader ( another WLS patient) swore by this thing...

    Stomach capacity

Your tummy is still healing & the sensitivity, intolerance to certain foods on certain days will continue for a while. Treat it gently. Eating a little less one day won’t harm. I still have days I can’t eat everything on my plate at a meal or something I eat regularly doesn’t seem to sit as well & I’m almost three years out. This morning I ate left over rolled oats from my breakfast yesterday (added some fresh to get to about my usual portion). It all balances out across the week. If I’m a bit low on my protein today, I’ll have a little more tomorrow. Same with fluids. Listen to your body. It’s a good habit to start now about your eating. You’ll discover your real hunger signals, your I’ve had enough signals, what you need versus what you want, etc. All the best.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Hello everyone! Happy to see that you are doing well! My surgery was on November 24, I lost 57 lb, which is 70% of my weight loss goal. Felling great, no issues at all. I had couple stalls, the last one was almost three weeks long. Last week I noticed that I can eat bigger portions of solid foods without feeling restrictions. Do you guys feel less restrictions too? How much of solid food can you eat at once, like one cup or less?
  13. Didn't know what CFA was but...I can do this Classic lemonade using three simple ingredients: real lemon juice—not from concentrate, Splenda® No Calorie Sweetener, and water. I'll order some splenda.
  14. Tomorrow I will be three weeks out from bypass surgery. For the past six days my surgeon's diet program has had me eating soft, moist proteins, with a target of eventually getting to 3oz per meal before adding in non-starchy vegetables. I'm really surprised at how sensitive my stomach is to food capacity. Sometimes I can eat 2.5 to 2.75 ounces of food and feel fine. The next day the same amount makes me feel awful as though I ate a pound of food. It's really something how sensitive my new stomach is as it heals and how even 1/4 ounce of extra food can create all kinds of discomfort.

    Ideal vs Best body weight

I agree with almost everything he says. First of all, I was told by my clinic that only about 10-15% of people make it to a normal BMI - most end up "overweight' or "class I obese" (which is not very obese - we're talking about 20 or 30 lbs overweight). The research I did after I was told that seemed to back that up. My third and final goal was to make it to a normal BMI, and I was actively discouraged from doing that - but I actually did make it -and stayed there for quite a while (I'm now about 6 lbs overweight at almost seven years out). I was told - like he said - that someone who's formerly obese has heavier bones and muscles than a person of the same weight who's never been obese, because we needed that extra "infrastructure" to hold up our weight. Granted, you do lose a lot of that as you lose fat - but you don't lose all of it - so we can weigh 10 or 15 lbs more than a never-been-obese person who's the same height and build and look pretty much the same as they do. and as far as getting too thin - I got down to 138 at my lowest - I looked pretty ghastly at that weight, even though that is around the middle of a normal BMI for me. I could practically see every bone in my body. I look and feel much better in the 150s. the only thing he said that didn't apply in my situation is that you lose about half of what you'd be expected to lose by a year out by the time you were three months out (in other words, if you lost 50 lbs in the first three months, you'd be expected to lose twice that (100 lbs) by a year out. I'd only lost about 40 lbs by three months out - and I was down about 120 lbs by one year out. So I think that can vary a bit.. otherwise, I do agree with pretty much everything he said - and my experience reflects most of it.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I am doing well. Had an over three week stall. It was getting a little frustrating that the scale stopped moving. Then one day I stepped on and I had lost 5.5 pounds overnight. I had to weigh again just to check that it wasn’t a mistake. I am back to losing again but not as quickly. Strangely I am having more problems with food these days. My system seems to be getting more picky. I hope everyone is doing well. I still have no regrets.

    Food Before and After Photos

An idea for a future stage (it took me three years before having pizza again) - I really like to garnish up California Pizza Kitchen brand cauliflower thin crust from grocers. It's really delish when you add some fresh tomatoes, green peppers, onions and parma cheese. We bake it extra brown for easy digestion. A moderate and satisfying portion size, too. We no longer order pizza out... just too heavy with too many hidden ingredients in crust and toppings. BUT love an occasional pizza treat once every 6 weeks! That pie looks soooo good!

Great minds think alike :-) - I've already started a journal with my weight and measurements, my reasons for wanting to do this etc, and I've taken some photos just before I started the pre-surgery diet. I love the idea of including space for some NSVs so I will definitely add that in, thanks! With regards to isolation, I've been told to isolate for three days prior, and am going in on Monday for a covid test. Fingers and toes crossed for a negative, I'd be devastated if the surgery can't go ahead as planned..!

Why round three? Did your surgery get cancelled? That’s worse then doing it once. I know we will be on liquids after so I have to keep drinking. I just made some broth because I think it’s the sweetness that’s getting to me from the protein shakes.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I have to do 5 shakes a day with nothing else. 800 calories, 75 g of protein is what the shakes equal. Round three of doing this liquid diet. Day three of this round.

    March 2022 Surgery Buddies

I’m supposed to have four protein shakes per day. I can have up to two sugar free popsicles and low sodium broth. I just have to tough it out for three more days.

    ^^^ I can't believe I didn't catch that! I just re-read the OP's message and ...yep!...right on time for the infamous three-week stall!

    Weight Gain

Welcome to the three week stall! It is probably the most discussed problem on this message board. Just keep doing what you know to do (follow your surgeon's dietary guidelines, keep walking) and it will work itself out. It is very frustrating when you are in the middle of it, but when the stall ends, you will lose weight FAST.
