Very emotional after the sleeve procedure
Deactivatedfatgal replied to carlychloe2's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started feeling like that at about 4-6 weeks post op and it's bad at times BUT I also felt like this after c-section & breast reduction. It's actually not uncommon for people to have ptsd after a procedure. -
Normal Pain after Surgery
hmm33502 replied to kim1234's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am not a medical expert, but this is the explaination that I have been given with some of the same symptoms that you have. I had an occasional pain in my side after exerting myself physically. My doctor said that the scar tissue that is bilding up around your port can "catch" on your ribs causing pain when working out or breathing deeply. I still have the occasional pain twinge at my incision sites (almost 4 weeks out). The swallowing too much air or too big a bite of food feeling has been explained to me as the feeling when your pouch is full. It feels EXACTLY like I ate too much food and stays until the food or drink has filtered through my stoma! I hope this helps. If it feel more severe than what I am describing, definately go and see your doctor! -
I'm 7 months out and drink about 3 bottles of wine a week. If I go out I drink Vodka in water with a squirt of Mio. I'm very careful if I'm out to drink slowly and I never drink and drive. But I honestly would prefer to drink over eat any day. I just don't because it worries my how much I enjoy it. ????

I almost have a surgery date but don't know which surgery is right
WhtWdUGive620 replied to Hollyhock's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congratulations on being so persistent and dedicated to your new journey! I just turned 60 and a few weeks before my birthday I got the sleeve. I chose it because it's less invasive, even though my starting weight was 361, which is pretty high on the spectrum, 5 months out now and I'm two pounds away from my 100-pound mark. Just keep asking questions and choose whichever surgery you feel comfortable with. I'm so glad I chose the sleeve but agree with one of the posters who mentioned something about problems with heartburn, which started in my sixth week, but has really gotten so much better. My doctor has me on famotidine which is less problematic for the future. I only take it when I really need it. Good luck! Sent from my LG-H740 using the BariatricPal App -
I am 5 weeks post op and on soft foods.....thank god. Anyways, I am freaking hungry. I try my hardest not to snack in between meals because I know that is not good. But if I eat at 11 i am hungry by 230-3. And I don't know what to do. I have contacted my hospital staff since they told me anytime I need help to call them but I had to leave a message. Right now I am ok with still being hungry, like some people say that the hunger leaves them but I'm ok having the normal hunger but this wanting to eat every 4-5 hours is not cool. Any ideas on what I can do to help that? Oh I am taking ant-acids

Surgery in 2 weeks!!
montynic replied to Bandster9005's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks? That puts your date as 4/1? Congrats! Mine is also in 2 weeks! Make sure to join the April Bandster Bunnies social group -
Just get through it. It is only 1 week out of your life and the first chapter of a whole new adventure. It really helps to reframe the experience into a positive instead of something "dreaded." There are going to be a lot of ups and downs on this journey and your decision to be positive and forward looking makes all the difference in the world in how well you navigate the challenges. You are being given an amazing, life changing gift. You will be healthier, stronger, more active, and live longer with better quality than you can imagine right now. Keep pressing on - the reward is well worth it. You got this! Only 1 week - let the countdown begin!

I was right there with ya just a week ago. It turned the corner quickly for me. One day I felt like hell and then just a couple of days later and I felt way better. It will improve!

It was REALLY REALLY good cake! The next scene party is a five-day camping trip, which I will miss because I will be in Florida for my birthday. That should count for three regular parties. (nods wisely)

I wasn't hungry for about 10 days after surgery, but as I continued to heal, I did get hungry. By the time my 1st fill appointment came, I was ready for it. Now I'm definitely ready for my 2nd one which is next week. Right now, I don't feel like I have much restriction at all. My advice to you is to still follow the rules even when you are on solid foods and are hungry. I have really tried to limit my food to the portion sizes my doctor and nutritionist recommended. Good luck! You will do great! -
Abdominal pain 2 weeks out?
SummerTimeGirl replied to james2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In response to TripletsMom, Yes, I had that until about 3 weeks out. One of the reasons I could not sleep laying down until that all stopped. If I tried I felt nothing but burning, tugging, and some pain around the incision sites. I'd say give it another week and they'll probably be better. -
The things I need to know.....

§ Start getting in better shape. I walked, lifted, and did as much as I could 5 times a week getting ready for surgery. § Started practicing eating slower for lunch. § Watched many videos, talked to people who had been through it. § Oh, but best work was preparing for the mental changes with my therapist and worked through this book: http://www.amazon.co...=bariatric book § I drank a great deal of alcohol so I weaned myself off and slowly cut the caffeine. § Followed the pre-op diet to the letter § Shopped two weeks before surgery for the foods I would need for the first two weeks. § Revised my will and power of attorney just in case something went wrong § Tried pureed meal ideas before surgery so I had some meal plans. -
Do anything that won't put pressure on your abs (squats may strain your abs and increase abdominal pressure which strains the sutures and your healing stomach). Those muscles will be sore for weeks.

I'm six weeks out today, been back at work for four weeks. I get in all my Protein and fluids and about 500 calories a day, give or take. The last two or three weeks I feel like I have never been so tired in my life. I get home from work, eat and go to sleep. I nap on the weekends and have no energy to do anything. I will bring it up at my next dr appt on 9/13 but when did you start to get some energy? I'm more lazy now than I was before the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was shocked at how poorly I felt the first three or so days after surgery. I had not had major surgery so I really didn't know what to expect. My second day out after the fun hospital medication wore off I really felt horrible. After about the 5th day I knew I was going to be ok, but be prepared for that first week. It's a booger!! It's now been a couple of months and EVERY DAY I am grateful to have this opportunity to regain my life back. At least now there isn't any viable excuses for me. This is working. If I have issues, it will be on me.

I did my 10 day liquid diet and IM so glad I did. My surgery went so great and my Dr was very glad I did it. I also lost 10 pounds! I think it prepares you for how the new life is goig to be for a while. I also weend my self off coffee and pop like 3 weeks before. I dont miss it it all now. mine was 90 grams protien shakes, clear fruit juices (watered down) SF popcycles, SF jello clear soup broth. Any how it was HARD, one day I even broke down in tears, try to take it one day at a time and stay busy, go out somewhere around dinner time, to let the time pass. Im one week and one day out and ive lost 21 pounds I CANT believe it!!! Im still on liquid diet for 3 more weeks, I wasnt hungry at all the first 4 days after, now Im getting a little hungry but not tooo bad Good luck, u can do it

Definately ask your doc or nurse. I started cardio a week after and progresses from there. I got the ok yesterday to use weights yeah!!!

My doc said two weeks but I drove about 5 days in without a problem but I only went a few miles. I can see how I might have gotten fatigued if I tried to drive several hours.

Finally, I've been motivated to exercise. I was banded back in Sept 2010 and I decided to wait until around 90 days post op to begin a decent exercise regime. My daughter plays basketball and fortunately for me her high school is brand new which includes a state of the art exercise facility and a indoor track. I've been hitting the track 3 times a week for at least a hour. My latest accomplishment has been 30 laps in 60 minutes. Now let me just say this my mouth be dry, my legs burn like crazy and my breathing is finally getting better. The down side for me is my hair!!! My edges get nappy pretty quickly from the sweat because my hair is natural and pressed out not relaxed. Moving on. I only know I'm losing weight because other people tell me. I don't own a scale. I have missed my last two doctor appts because of the snow and bad roads here in Michigan. I know I need a fill for several reasons the main one being when I went in for my last fill the darn nurse couldn't get any in the band but somehow she managed to take some out probably leaving me without anything at all. I want to start working on my arms and toning my belly down but I'm afraid I'm going to somehow hurt the band. Any suggestions on this would be great. What are you guys eating for Protein? How many meals a day are u getting in? I'm just releasing some thoughts that have been on my mind.

haha thank you! I'm still not confident enough with my legs... I go to the YMCA almost 5 days a week depending on my daughters schedule... I'm starting to get alot of saggy skin in my lower stomach and arms... of course the chest too! But that is all fixable as my husband tells me I traded one addiction for another I love to run now and if I don't I fill like I'm letting myself down... I NEVER ran before and I can only run for 30mins at a time but it will progress... I also do weights because I want to minimize the skin if I can... Your doing great also!

Hello Everyone- I just found this site yesterday, and it so fun and informative. Still trying to learn how to navigate it. I went for my follow up Dr. Visit today lost 10-lbs. That was shocking, but I am still on the liquid stage or should I say THE HARDEST PART STAGE (for me). They said I can start having creamier substances (soup) just looking for something different. Any, suggestions?? I am still pretty sore around my port, and still pretty gassy not sure how to relief that besides walking around and Gas-X it can really be painful. Need all the help and suggestions that you can give me. Thanks So Much for your time God Bless You All Teresa

A few changes that I've made for the month of sept 1. Enroll with Gaglione Strength- Strength training 3 times a week. I have a Fab Am coach who pushes me to the MAX! Like seriously, I don't get away with **** lmao...Eyes are always on me and he provides me with a lot of positive feedback. Lifting weights will not make u bulky, u will get toned and have a nice ass if u squat 2. Learning how to say "No" to unhealthy foods. Everytime u say no, u have the potential to lose weight. Every food choice we make brings us closer to, or further away from our goals! Remember you want to be sexy, strong, & lean! :-D 3. Focus on protein & clean eating. I know some people prob think I'm nuts or something with my protein/food post but if you focus on ur protein intake (60-80 a day) you will lose weight. It's better than focusing on carbs :-) -

2 weeks Pre-op any tips or suggestions?
Mom26 replied to aprildewitt86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey April. I'm Lisa. Also having surgery Nov 9th - in NYC. Started my 2-week liquid diet today. For Breakfast, I had 1c almond milk, 15 ice cubes, 2TBSP PB2 powder, 1/2 banana and 1 packet of unjury chocolate Protein powder -- blended into a smoothie. I've actually been having these daily for about 5 weeks now. My pre-surgery diet is full liquids - I know some others get to have a light meal on theirs. I made a worksheet last night with my day's dietary plan (2 Unjury shakes, 1 Premier Protein shake, a yogurt and sugar free Jello for snacks). A written plan works best for me so it's all ironed out before my day starts. Just need to remind myself to drink Water. Never been a big water drinker, but I'll learn. Good luck!!
