I look like a "normal" person now - 4 months post-op
swizzle posted a gallery image in Member Photo Gallery

Most candid shots of me, throughout my entire life, have typically been mortifying. Lately I've been noticing that I don't hate (even like?) them! THAT is a pretty awesome NSV!! -
Progress Not Perfection
Montana Gal replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Way to go! I am so glad you were able to do this and could participate in almost everything! This is a major NSV for you! -
Had a nice little NSV myself today. Only have a couple pair of shorts left (that l can wear safely/ without falling down). I knew I had dropped a size or 2 from 42-44's I had been wearing. Did a little shopping at Kohls and actually fit comfortably into a size 36 pair of Levi denim shorts. I seriously do not remember the last time I was in a 36, let alone getting the first pair I tried on.

Nervous -- How about some stories on how much better you feel?
Jasminelums replied to sc101071's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved almost 4 weeks ago and one thing for sure is less ankle and knee pain. I walked for about 4 miles yesterday and didn't need to ice my ankles after! Still new at this and looking forward to more NSVs [emoji3] -
Brand spankin new - SIPS surgery March 10 2016
PrincessMonsterTruck replied to PrincessMonsterTruck's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
That's great! I'm 4.5 months postop now, and I'm halfway to my goal weight. I'm down 115lbs now, and about a month ago I got on a plane and did NOT need an extender. I won't lie - I cried. Very emotional and a proud NSV, for sure. You'll get there soon enough and it will be fabulous, just like you! -
I was also sleeved on the 27th. Down 20lbs since surgery 43lbs since starting the 2 week preop diet. I feel good. If I sit for too long my incisions are sore. I am going to start seeing a therapist that specifically deals with WLS because I have a lot of struggle with head hunger and emotional eating. Hope she has some ideas on how to curb that! My mom noticed I had a waist and that was a pretty awesome feeling and NSV for me!! Good luck to everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

365 days to a new me
Chrysalis77 replied to Chrysalis77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
DAY 31 10 Days post-op HW: 371 SW: 335 CW: 324 Good and bad report today. First the bad- last night I mistake head hunger for real hunger and boy did I pay the price! It was about 2 hours after my last meal and I felt "hungry." Now mind you, I haven't been truly hungry (not like before) since I had the surgery, but last night I felt like I needed to eat. I figured since it had been a couple hours since I last had something I would go ahead and eat. BIG MISTAKE. Not only was my Protein shake unnecessary, I also drank it way too fast. I immediately felt sick. Started heaving and spitting up foamies. Cramping and hot flashes. I was miserable! Definitely not something I was to repeat that is for sure. Now for the good- had my first NSV today! Several months ago I bought two pairs of comfy 3X pants from Walmart. The first pair- made out of sweat pant material- barely fit. The second pair-which were flannel- didn't fit at all. I was so disappointed. But today I decided to try them again and low and behold.... They fit. I am writing this update in my "new" soft lounge pants :-) Oh! And I can drink without chest pain. So that is another positive! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

If the seatbelt fits...
catwoman7 replied to fatgirlsvelte's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
eating out - Soups, chili, non-fried appetizer (shrimp cocktail is always a good choice), or order an entree that fits into your program's parameters (nothing fried, basically Protein and vegetables) and just eat a cup of it (or however much you're supposed to be eating now). Then have them box up the rest (that is, if your hotel room has a fridge!) congrats on the plane thing - that was a huge NSV for me as well! -

gowalking replied to fatgirlsvelte's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I love these NSVs. Congrats. Don't sweat the eating out. You may find it's not such a challenge when you realize the camaraderie and conversation is so much better when you aren't focused on the food. Make the right choice when you are looking at the menu, and then just sit back and enjoy. -
Tell me... what is on your bucket list now that you have reached a non-scale victory (NSV) or ultimate goal? Is there something you want to do that you've never dreamed of doing? Spill it!

Who else got sleeved on the 28th of march?
Takoyaki replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are doing great! Congrats on the NSVs! I've had a few NSVs myself. I had been stalled for the past three weeks, but finally broke through earlier this week. I not only hit a total of 50 pounds down, but I'm now at my lowest weight since 2003!! It's feels great! -
I've had little NSVs, like fitting into my jeans again. But today I tried on an outfit that hasn't fit me in four years and I look better in it now than I did then I'm so glad I tried it on today as my weight loss had really slowed down, which I know is normal, but still made me a little sad. Odd, but good!, NSV
MrsSugarbabe replied to LisaMergs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Great unusual NSV!! I've been known to slip on a top or jacket without returning to the dressing room again. What's the harm as long as we don't walk out of the store with the item on LOL!!! I still look at a lot of 2XL tops even though I can comfortably wear XL and some Large depending on style. I still have to fit my hips and prefer a certain length to help cover my belly. I'm 60 years old and seriously doubt that I will ever have any plastic surgery done. Congratulations on your success!! Congratulations to all of us for the great progress we've made already!! -
So once again, I find myself out buying clothes because the ones from 6 weeks ago are falling off... I'm at Walmart (inexpensive) and of course I keep looking to the XXL or XL but I'm squarely now in Larges. After enough trying on clothing, I'm leaving but see a really cute top. Here's the odd-good NSV. I didn't feel like going BACK to the dressing room, so with out thinking, I just took the shirt, pulled it over my head OVER the top I'm wearing. Skid to halt---- huh? Before WLS I would need to strip down to my skivvies! And the funny thing was I didn't think twice before I did it! Boom! And yes, fit perfectly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Who else got sleeved on the 28th of march?
SilentBotts replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is everyone doing? Just had my 4th monthly follow up with the programs APRN. We set a goal for me to be below 300lbs by my six month follow up with the surgeon. I'm super thrilled with my progress so far. Lots of little NSVs lately, fitting in chairs/cars way easier now, my thighs are starting to look noticeably smaller when sitting down. I had to add notches to my belts the other day. -
Some of you may remember me asking about running after surgery. If not, my husband is a runner, runs ultra "insane" marathons. I want nothing to be able to run with him. Now that my weight is down (almost 70lbs) I thought I'd try a little. I've been walking but haven't really pushed myself till now. This is my progress over the last 3 days. Shew, I may be feeling it by the end of the week. This is Monday, Tuesday and today's distance and time. I'm increasing the pace and distance by 1/4 mile each day. Social media piks
JennsJourney replied to 4u2nvyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought long and hard before sharing on social media but I felt like it might help others who might be on their own weight loss journey. I made my announcement about 2 weeks after surgery. (I waited until after surgery because I didn't want those comments that might discourage me.) I have only posted about 4 or 5 progress photos (and I'm 5 1/2 months post-op) but what I have posted more are my NSVs (non-scale victories). And I can't tell you how many people have messaged me and talked to me in person and said how much it has encouraged them to watch my journey. I had no idea how sharing this part of my life would impact others but it definitely has! I think it is a very personal decision whether to share such a personal journey but for me, it has been a blessing. And I have received such sweet compliments and encouragement on those days when I get frustrated. Hope that helps!
