This just in, Chobani Greek yogurt has had a recall of yogurt, siting mold as the reason for the recall. Check your containers, for the number 16-012 with an expiration date of Sept 11- Oct 7. The last thing anybody needs is mold in their tummy!

Regular foods is kinda a misnomer I guess. I've been on straight liquids for several days and only deviated from that for some grits/polenta. Other then that its been pudding, yogurt, frozen popsicles (yummy!!), jello, and protein drinks. You sound like you have about the same driving restriction as me. I have a lot of books, but I'm still feeling very restless.

Had the sam problem for first 4 months post op. Now i have a yogurt or Quest protein bar everyday and this keeps me regular. I don't eat fruits and rarely eat vegetables. Mostly i eat chicken.
-
I was on a low-fat/low-calorie, which is all my surgeon requires. For the week before surgery, I did a diet consisting of two protein shakes, two greek yogurts, and one protein bar per day. Diets can vary a lot by surgeons.

Only 4 days apart ???? I am doing really well at the moment. I contacted my consultant as I was struggling to eat yogurt and jelly as was finding it so sweet it was making me feel sick. I was told to try cut up eggs and also very soft mash potato. So for a few days I have been eating soup, eggs, soft low fat cheese and potato. Very small portions though. I think this was really early to have introduced these foods but so far I have had no reactions to it. I have also lost 8lbs since last Thurs ???? My pain is a lot easier and mobility nearly back to normal although I am not lifting or carrying my baby boy as yet. How do you feel now? Are you still wondering what you have done or are things easing for you now? ???? xx

Lactose intolerance
TijuanaPlication replied to Bemabound's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to hear about your problems. Some people become temporarily lactose intolerant. Can you try some lactose free milk? We have this in the UK http://www.lactofree.co.uk/ and there must be something similar in the US. You could try yogurt as a lot of people who have problems with lactose do OK with fermented products (that includes cheese too). I'd try just half a small yogurt to see how you go. I have IBS and I have a relative with crohns, so I sympathize with you. You could also try your protein drinks with water. If you still have problems it could be the protein powder itself giving you issues. I never did protein drinks as they make too unwell (cramps, bloating, etc). You should be OK to get your protein from real food now as you're nearly a month out. Just make sure you chew, chew, chew (fish will be easier on your new sleeve if chicken doesn't sit well just yet). All the best. -
Take a look at the Kashi oatmeals - they have a little Protein (could up it with Protein powder and/or milk) and a good portion of Fiber which might be satisfying. Cottage cheese (I looove the chive flavor) has a similar texture to oatmeal but more protein - if oatmeal goes down okay, maybe cottage cheese will, too. Or Fage yogurt - lots of protein and really different texture (creamy, not liquid-y - more like sour cream) compared to regular yogurt - I flavor mine with a tiny bit of honey or a squirt of sugarfree Da Vinci syrup. I get Fage at Trader Joe's or at a local natural foods grocery. Good luck!

How is it to cook for others after surgery
AudsMom replied to Allformyson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on the liquid diet (2 weeks) and it is hard for me. The worst item i am fighting with head hunger is.. CHEEZE ITS! OMG i will never buy those again. They make them where u can smell them as they open the box. Very tempting, but i have stayed on track:) My daughter btw is also 14 months old.. and she eats everything, my prob with her is she trys to feed mommy.. Then when she is done eating she wants what mommy is eating.. She loves grits, and cream of potato Soup..oh and the V8 broccoli, and yogurt, gosh that kid will eat anything. -
I usually just do yogurt and feel full until around 1-2 pm, even though I do make myself eat a small lunch even if I'm not hungry, or I'd end up not eating until dinner.
-
What about yogurt, soup, pudding, etc? Smoked salmon if you're onto it, creme fraiche, a little dill. Perfect bite. But really, anything with protein!!! Good luck!

When you can eat solids again, the GNC Lean Bars are pretty decent, too. I like the banana, strawberry yogurt and blueberry yogurt. I hate the gummy gooey texture of most protein bars (including the infamous, beloved quest bars) but the GNC bars are textured like rice crispie treats.

Do you ever resume a 'normal' relationship with food?
Jachut replied to Manatee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ah Cookies. Me too Denise. I will never have a normal relationship with sugary carbs. I could live on them, quite happily. Unfortunately, they go down really easily. What I find helps me (and is this normal? Probably not!) is that every morning, I set out on the bench the 2 pieces of fruit, the carton of yogurt, the 4 bottles of Water, and the five different vegetables I am going to get through that day. The veges I can put aside in the fridge -- usually have some in a sandwich for lunch and several steamed for dinner. I make a pact with myself that the fruit, yogurt and water is to be eaten FIRST whenever I get picky. I usually find if I do that, I can control the cravings for cookies that strikes at 11 am. And contrary to my previous beliefs about water, I do indeed find chugging down half a litre of water if I feel like eating something really DOES quell the urge a lot of the time. If I have to play mind games like this with myself I doubt I could be called normal, but oh well, if it keeps me healthy I'm happy enough with it. -
I think you're getting really great feedback. I can hear my team about the shakes. I drink shakes because I need more calories because I work out a lot and I ca not eat enough so I have to drink calories. Although this is changing! So they tell other people to get off the shakes, if you are hungry more often than every 3-4 hours, and eat more dense Protein, veg and fruit. Back to the apples and Peanut Butter thread. Lol. Dense=Harder to digest so it stays in the sleeve longer and leave you feeling satisfied longer. For me, cottage cheese is a slider! I mix it into other foods for protein but on its own, slider! Not so with Greek yogurt. Weird, eh?

I used the unflavored in my coffee in the morning - you gotta let it cools some & sf flavored creamer - I used in shakes but added yogurt or some type of fruit - banana are good for covering up taste. I don't love or hate it - I can taste it - but i only used it in the beginning during liquid stage - I get my Protein from food - sometimes a southbeach bar that has 19 grms.. I still have almost full choc - that stuff is just too sweet for me - I got sick of shakes...

Week 5 post surgery diet & exercise
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Hanasleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What phase are you on at 4 weeks? At 4 weeks I was still eating a lot if Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, turkey, fish, refried Beans, etc. I was cleared to get in the pool once my incisions had healed over at about 4 weeks post-op. Swimming is my favorite exercise and I have been in the pool ever since! -
I eat lemon pepper bumblebee tuna for breakfast usually.. this morning I had yogurt with blueberries though and a small cup of coffee.. that was my first time to try that.. at lunch I had chicken pho with bean sprouts instead of noodles.. about an hour ago I had a small snack of energy trailmix.. for dinner I'll probably have chicken and veggies or maybe even pho again.. I'm so addicted to it.... I can pretty much eat anything anybody else does except scrambled eggs, omelets, thick bread products and sometimes chicken prepared a certain way.. other than that, everything goes down pretty well..

Before I was banded I ate fast food for lunch every day. Since I have been banded it has been easy to pack my shakes during the liquid phase, and some cottage cheese and apple sauce and yogurt for lunch during the mushy stage. I'm now moving on to solids and I am at a loss what to pack for lunch. I want something with some substance to it, but I cannot stand tuna, and microwaved or cold chicken appear not to be a bandsters friend. I just need some ideas so I don't have to eat the exact same thing every stinkin day for lunch forever because I can't think of something to bring that is easy to just grab out of the fridge and go. Thank you so much in advance for your suggestions.

How much of the soup? Does it go by the same 2oz rule as the yogurt, or can you have more?

Any photos of "plated" food portions?
LumpySpacePrincess replied to GoGirl2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At your stage, best thing to do is measure your portions. Never eyeball, or you might find your portions creep up which can slow your losses. 3 Tablespoons at the absolute max for your stage of purees, or up to 4 ounces of more liquidy foods like yogurt or soup. Hope this helps! -

DUMPING Syndrome...it's not just for bypass patients
hope@50plus replied to AJW's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was told by my doctors that when you get a vsg there is no dumping syndrome"> Hi All, I've been having an issue in the last month with what I suspect is dumping syndrome. I had VSG in August 2009, so I've lost all the weight and am below goal. That part is fine. I suspect this dumping issue started as the result of eating too much sugar after dinner. Last night and the night before, I ate what we call an Artisan Cheese plate. It's little tiny bits of different cheese (like an inch by an inch sizes) with a little fig jam and honeycomb (like a one inch sq. size of comb) with some water crackers. Not a lot of food at all, but man within an hour of eating I was getting not only the sugar rush, but rapid heart palpitations, adrenaline rush, sweating and shaky. At first I thought hypoglycemia, but that wasn't it, just same symptoms. When it happened a second time (yeah, after eating the same thing - I know, I know) I figured out it was dumping syndrome, or food moving too fast into the small intestines. I do NOT want a repeat performance. Now, in the past year I've certainly eaten dessert, sometimes frozen yogurt, if at dinner somewhere out, shared a dessert, and nothing happened. I've had this dumping scenario occur about 4X in the last month. It started with eating some soft butter brickle after dinner one night, but it was more like a feeling of just feeling awful, with no specific symptoms. Then it happened when I ate some Halloween candy (too many Butterfingers), but I figured it was just a sugar rush. But after eating the honey, I got the full on dump. Here's the weird thing: I ate this same Artisan Cheese plate at a restaurant at lunch time and had NO ISSUES, just at night does it come up. How do I AVOID having this issue in the future? And is it just a too much sugar problem? Please, hope someone has been through this door before and can help me with this. Thanks! </FONT></FONT></FONT> -

could you eat and drink normal after bypass revision
kswin79 replied to bikerchick519's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had RNY bypass revision after lapband done in 2013 about 2 weeks ago and I am able to drink water without sipping also and I am on Presoft foods already per my doctor stating in paperwork if I felt ok to move to Presoft go forward so that consist of soups, unsweetened applesauce and Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and I have been fine I have appt today for my two week follow up but I had a very bad allergic reaction and I am on three meds to help me not get a ulcer and prednisone to help with the itchy, red breakout. It’s been only two days since I been on the prednisone but I can tell it’s working already still a little itchy but the rash is fading. I think it’s just us healing but the food part is weird bc I thought it would feel major restrictive like the band was but it’s not been so far hopefully our pouch is fine.. I’ll let you know what the doctor states today about us being able to drink n soups two weeks in a no restriction feeling yet? Thanks for sharing also I really can relate.😊
