I'm two months out and three small "gulps" seems to be my limit, but I can take those sets of three gulps pretty close together now.

November Surgery Buddies!!!
OutdoorsGirl replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a heart issue after my surgery so I am just on my way home from the hospital now after a week. I felt pretty good after 2 days but had to stay in the hospital until they found a drug that would work for me. Water is going down easily and I’m on full liquids. I don’t think I lost anything in the hospital with the IVs. -

GERD after Revision! Please help!
joeyangel99 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, I had my revision from sleeve to bypass on 10/27/21, only 3 weeks ago. I also had hiatal hernia repair, and gallbladder removal all at once. I am feeling good, no vomiting. Still on liquid stage, proceeding to soft solids soon. However, I am feeling GERD again! and worried the revision will not successfully resolve this frustrating issue. The nurse said to give it time. Did anyone have GERD weeks after their revision surgery? If so, did it resolve with time? Please I need some feedback! Thanks! -
Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum and would love some input into the concerns I have which pertain to my weight loss/progress. So I am 28 weeks post-op as of tomorrow and I feel as though my weight loss is a little slow. So far I have lost 4 stone and 8lbs (64 pounds) but I am struggling to hit the five stone mark. On Facebook, I am part of a group that has new and post-op patients from the clinic that I did my surgery with but everyone’s progress seems to be much better than mine. I am 24, 5ft 4 and my starting weight was 21 stone. I am grateful to be currently 16 stone 13lbs but I feel as though I should be loosing more. Am I worrying too much, or would you all agree with me? All replied appreciated 😊

When did you get back to exercise?
TheRealPennyD replied to jennyhenny0330's topic in Fitness & Exercise
This is all great information! I'm going to talk to my surgeon, but I'm wondering how quickly people get back to other activities, like bodyweight exercises. Resistance bands or other stuff you do around the house, and then videos like this: https://youtu.be/ZiDgJEt3x1U Of course it's all individual and I will talk to my surgeon. But just wondering people's experiences/opinions. I was told not to lift more than 10 lbs, does that mean after 2 weeks or so I can use 8lb weights (one at a time) to tone my arms? Just excited to do this all and I know I'm going to be bored healing at home for 5 weeks after surgery. -
Anyone else having VSG end of Nov 2021?
summerseeker replied to Elaine77's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgery is 24th Nov. I have done 2 of 3 weeks of the pre op diet. I am in the UK and we seem to have docs with different diets here. I am allowed Milk, veg, yogurt and fruit. It works out at about 1000 to 1200 cals a day. I am sick and tired of the veg prep and the boring menu. Its cold here so I want warm food. My poor husband hates my farts TMI. I can look at my doctors photograph and call him an absolute b*****d and a torturer and please would he end this and move my surgery forward to this afternoon Anyone on a more restricted diet has my complete sympathy, -
aww...i feel for you. But im suprised about the Vitamins, my drs office told me to start 2 weeks after surgery. Yesterday was my 14th day and youre right, the Vitamins look huge prior to surgery. It gets better as time goes, pls rest. Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app

Why so much water?
Arabesque replied to oldandtired's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We’re only advised to drink what is the recommended intake for everybody - 2litres or 64 ounces a day. More if you reside in a hot climate &/or perspire a lot. Water flushes toxins out your body, aids brain function, improves your skin, takes pressure off your hearts as your blood is easier to pump around your bodies, regulates your body temperature, etc. Our body is 60% water & some organs are more than that. If you feel thirsty, your body is already in a water deficit. The good news is you don’t just have to drink water. Any liquids count. Just don’t make caffeinated drinks the main source. Your post surgery protein shakes, broths, soups, etc. will all count too. I get my intake from a combination of still water, flat sparkling water (I like the minerally taste as a break from only plain water which sometimes can feel heavy to drink), green tea & extra milk in my rolled oats. Add a squeeze of lemon, lime or other citrus to your water. In the weeks post surgery I doubled the water needed to make my shakes & hydralite (the boost of energy & electrolytes were helpful). I keep water beside my bed so I drink during the night & in my car (drink when I get in, when I get out & at every red light). I also find it easier to drink from a glass. -
GULP - Confessions and accountability - New week starts today
Arabesque replied to MandoGetsSleeved's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aah the dangerous slide of becoming complacent &/or over confident. We’ve all been there at some time in our pre & post surgery lives. Don’t get too down on yourself especially as you’ve realised what happened & are ready to get back on track. Sometimes a good way to start is to just drop or change one thing. Then next week you change or drop another. Small wins. What I’ve learnt from those on this forum who are a long way post surgery is that they continue to track & monitor & make adjustments according to what’s happening in their life. I try to do this too. Sure, I don’t track & measure my food every day but I do random reviews of what I’m eating & carefully monitor new additions to my food choices. I’m very conscious about everything I put in my mouth - nutrients, protein content, calories. I do track my protein & water intake every day. If I eat more one day I try to eat less the next. If I was under on my protein yesterday, today I’ll aim to be over. Unfortunately, I think we will always face challenges with food. We just have to keep focussed on making sure it doesn’t win. That’s my goal now anyway. -
Hey y'all. I'm a little less than a month away from my endoscopy. My doc said basically if I'm clear anywhere from 2 weeks after that I can get my gastric bypass. In the meantime while I wait, I struggle with depression. I know that everything is coming so soon but I can't help but feel scared and stuck. I don't know who else to talk to about this. I feel like I should be happy and excited but I'm overwhelmed and scared of failure before it even begins. I don't know if I need support or tough love but I'm really struggling to stay grounded. I'm just venting but if you have any advice or positive/success stories you want to share, I'd love to hear it. Thanks and hope you all are doing well. How much weight did you lose in the first 3 months?
cellbell replied to ac0181's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just as the two above said, results can be super variable. I lost 50 lbs in three months but I just saw another post where someone lost 46 lbs in only one month! It's hard not to compare yourself, especially if you're a competitive person, but give it time and stick to your plan and you'll see the scale start moving. Good luck! -
Anyone else having VSG end of Nov 2021?

My surgery is scheduled for 11/29 and today is day 1 of the 14 day liquid diet. Im verrrry hungry. Anyone else struggle on liquids for 2 weeks? -
HI Shoppgirl! Yes, my surgeon basically said the same thing.. She said I will never tell you that you cannot ever have something/anything again. I felt that was quite a relief. And I wish I wasn't on this road of self-sabotage. I am refocusing my energies this week in an attempt to re-lose these 10 lbs. that I keep yo-yoing on. Ugh!! Why do we do this to ourselves? According to your weights, it looks like you are doing great! I do know what you mean by being at goal already if you hadn't acted up at the beginning - it's so hard not to though!!

i hear you, I'm just amazed how fast it drops, Doc said i would loss 2 to 3 pounds a week, well im having my leg veins done too, which make me see the doc twice a week right now, and damn its like 5 to 6 pounds a week

4th day Sind gastric by pass
Jjsdrm1021 replied to Oakgrovelady's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I must be different. I am 11 days out from RNY w/Hitial Hernia repair on 11/4. The first 3 days sucked, gas pain in shoulders and back. After day three, I feel like I could run a marathon now. Zero issues what so ever. Eating as recommended, no issues drinking liquids or protein. I feel amazing. I am also back at work. -
I am 11 days out from my RNY and back to work. I feel amazing. The first three days sucked, but after that, I am ready to go to war again. This show will continue rolling!

What was your protein/day goal after surgery?
Pete-TheTimeIsNow replied to Pete-TheTimeIsNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the responses. I have 2 more daysof just shakes..I'll follow the dr's instructions.. It seemed at first glance, that 120 g on week 2 was a bit higher than what Ihad seen here in the forums. @Sunnyway, @TheRealPennyD, thanks for the suggestions.Even though I am starting purees soon, I think I'll keep having 1-2 shakes/protein sources per day to ensure I meet the daily protein goal.. @vikingbeast, thanks for the info. I asked my Dr, and he says that the high recommended daily protein was because the results of my body composition anaylsis showed that I had a higher than usual muscle mass, and he wanted to keep as much as possible of that for when I started working out. Onward and forward!
