Have you called the doctor about the shaky feeling? I was not feeling well and they moved me to puree diet one week early. I was not getting enough protien on the liquid diet. You should get between 60 - 100 gms.

Thanks for the inspiration!!! You and I are pretty comparable height and begining weight wise. My surgery will be Dec. 18th, and the main thing I'm looking forward to is having more energy, and not feeling overwhelmed physically when exercising. I used to run daily, and lift a few times a week, and can't wait to get back to it. Keep up the great work, and keep posting... it gives us rookies hope:-)

Is it possible that I am still swollen???
123crod replied to Phranp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same problems expect my fill has been 2 weeks ago. I only have 3.5 ccs in 10cc band. I only got .5cc this last time. I am sticking to yogurt and protien bars as I have no problem with them. -
It does get better when you start on mushies! I am 4 weeks post-op and just this week, feel like I am getting most of my energy back. Hang in there and good luck!!

Pain Upon Eating - Constant since 2012 Surgery
rmonique replied to jggauthier65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This sounds like my life since Jan of this year. I had so many tests done and each one came back normal. My Dr. told me sometimes fat gets stuck in certain places and causes pain. I had surgery 2 weeks ago for them to see what was going on with me. Turns out I had several lipomas (like a tumor made up of fat). Even had one attached to my belly button that hung like a string. I still have some pain from the surgery, but I'm not feeling the same pain I had before every time I ate. Be consistent with them, you shouldn't have to live in pain like this. Hope this helps someone. [emoji18] -
I did chewables after surgery until I ran out, so probably a few months? Since then I've been taking calcium & multi vitamin daily (both gummies), and a sublingual b12 once a week, per my NUT's orders. Labs have never been anything but perfect, no issues whatsoever.

I agree. My place of employment held a BBQ 3-4 weeks after my surgery. I was still on soft foods. I had BBQ ribs and chicken. Passed on everything else. The ribs were super soft so I chewed them really good and just kind of played with the chicken to make it look like I was eating it!

I think I'm most worried that I won't loose any weight. I know i know... That is ludicrous, but it has been such a life long struggle with my weight I Doubt my bodies ability to be a normal size! I had been praying a lot about WLS and finally gave it to GOD and low and behold he had not one but three separate people speak to me in a fee days time about their WLS journey! I took it as a sign and called my surgeon that week. I know that this journey is going to be 50% weight loss battle ... 50% emotional battle... I am just trying to prepare myself for it all!! -
Has anyone suffered a second round of hair loss!? I had the classic first round between approx months 3-7...just as I thought I was going to be completely bald it stopped...new hairs started coming through and I cut my hair short and took a huge sigh of relief I had survived! Lol! Hair much thinner but starting to recover. Now, at almost 14 months out from surgery it seems to have started again I realise that when the hair loss stopped around month 7/8 it stopped completely, I really wasn't losing any hair at all - and I know a certain amount of shed is normal - and now it's started again with a vengeance. I'm pretty sure it's not just a normal amount and I can already see the affects, particularly at the front of my hairline where it was really bad last time. If it carries on for the months it did last time I'm afraid I really will end up bald! Does anyone have any experience of this at this point or further from surgery? I'm getting all my protein/water, taking my vits, recently had bloods done and all good there, and although I still have weight to lose its not coming off at the moment, bee stalled for about 6 weeks.

Weight watchers pre-op
Inner Surfer Girl replied to gottadosumthin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was doing WW online preop but not post-op. It may have changed, but my major issue (other than cost) was that it wasn't possible to track my Protein with the WW point system. I still had to track my protein so I started using MyFitnessPal which is free. Post-op, protein and fluids are the priority. For me, it is a fairly simple program. If you can track your protein and can follow a bariatric post-op nutrition plan in conjunction with WW, find the meetings helpful, and can afford it then I don't think they are necessarily incompatible. On a side note, I personally hated the focus on the scale that WW relies on and the consequent assumption that I did something wrong if I hit a stall. This is the first time in my life I have learned about how normal, natural, and necessary stalls are to the process of losing weight. (Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall) I personally have had much more success and have gained many more skills and resources with OA. If WW is helpful for you and meets your needs, then by all means keep going. -
Hi, I've had the sleeve surgery about one year ago was weighing about 190 pounds & lost 40 pounds. Just love the feeling of not being over weight & more healthy. The past 6 months I've had chest pains only three times severe. When had the first pain went to the doctor, he checked me & said it was acid reflux. Today in church had to leave because of severe chest pain this pain comes from behind my heart to the front of the heart, not in my throat. The last time I ate was last night around 7:00 pm & had a snack around 9:00pm. This pain began around 9:30am this morning haven't eaten anything. The pain comes every 20 to 30 minutes but is getting milder. How can this be acid reflux when I haven't had food? I don't take the medicine for acid reflux because i don't have heart burn. I can't believe this is acid reflux.

Feeling frustrated and depressed
mythreechildren2001 replied to queenmab's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I feel your pain. I was sleeved 7/12. I lost 18 lbs the first 2 weeks and nothing these last 2 weeks. It's frustrating and makes you wonder if you'll be the 'one' that it just doesn't work for. I'm trying to be patient, but that's not my best personality trait so it's not working out for me so well. I guess we just have to keep hanging in there! -
I get a significant sinus headache, the kind that no amount of Tylenol Sinus can help. I get it one eye or the other, never both, behind my eyebrow and slightly behind my eye. It's a very distinct pain. Within three days it rains, every single time since I was about 9. I'm a human barometer. Oh, and it also seems to rain every time I wear a pair of new shoes, go figure. Once in when I was in highschool I was getting out of my friends car, our school was on a hill... my new shoe slipped off and fell in the gutter and took off like a raft on a river.

Don't freak out. There could be a host of reasons why you gained two pounds. Maybe your food's extra salty. Maybe you're under a lot of stress. Maybe it's almost time for the monthly visitor. But do track EVERYTHING. Download MyFitnessPal or MyMacros+ or Baritastic and log LITERALLY EVERYTHING you put in your mouth BEFORE you put it in your mouth. Including water. Including coffee. Including the sugar and cream in your coffee. Including the oil you cook in. Including salad dressing. Weigh things out—don't look at a piece of chicken and say well that's gotta be three ounces, get a $15 scale off Amazon or at Walmart and weigh it out. If you can't figure out how to track it, don't eat it. (You'll need to do this at some point after surgery anyway.) Start "auditioning" protein shakes and protein waters. You'll be surprised how full they make you even pre-surgery, and most are 150-200 calories and give you anywhere from 20-40 g of protein. Start by substituting one meal with the protein shakes. Once you're past that, substitute another meal with a protein shake (add a little salad or something with just a spoonful of dressing if you're still hungry). Drink a cup of water before you eat if you're prone to binging so your stomach's fuller. You got this. It'll come off and your surgeon will say, yep, you're good to go.

My team allows up to 6 meals per day to meet my protein goals. I'm eating every 2.5 - 3 hours. I'm 10 weeks post op and can make my protein goals much easier by having many little meals. I'm slowly reducing total meals and increasing serving sizes, but 2 - 4 oz us all I can handle. Take your time, find what works best for you.

Well, after 5 months of "pre-op" tests, etc. I got the call today that my surgery is approved and a date is set for 3 weeks from now. Wow. That was a lot to absorb all at once but I am so happy to finally have the answer I have been hoping and praying for. I plan to stay positive and be realistic that this is not an overnight fix but a start to a new way of doing things. I plan to make new friends in this forum and be open to the experiences of those who have paved the way. I need "hugs" and prayers for my new future and I am excited to start the new chapter of my life. xoxo

Hello, I am 2 months out and have been steadily losing 3 lbs a week since my initial 30 lb drop. I recently started full solids and felt I was doing well. About a week ago I started low dose of birth contol. Since then, I have also begun to have stomach issues. I'm am nauseated when I am getting ready to eat, during, and after until it digests. I have no desire to eat and forcing it causes reflux. No real abnormal pain just extreme nausea. I have never actually thrown up and am taking my nausea meds. I also have regular bowels but an intense long lasting burning pain after I go...for hours. Last blood work (June 2) showed slightly low protien and Vitamin D so I was trying to up my protien and now take liquid Vitamin D. I was also dehydrated but have that under control, I think. I have called the dr and he is scheduling me for another gallbladder ultrasound tomorrow and a HIDA scan the next day if no stones are found. Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Has anyone had this HIDA scan? Is it painful?

5 More Days Till My Gastric Sleeve Surgery....over The Pre Op Diet..
bayareanan replied to amy1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can relate to the liquid diet being more difficult the second tome around. I think it is. Because we had restriction from the band and accepted that as normal. Then poof it is all gone when you get unfilled. my surgery date is 11/21, so I have just over a week to go. -
I am three weeks out tomorrow and will travel on Thursday. I'm going to be very proactive about finding Snacks I can eat and keeping them in my room, plus packing some for the trip. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Breakfast foods you love and are healthy
KristenLe replied to Deleted Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I make crustless quiche muffins. Put whatever veggie and/or meat with some cheese in bottom of muffin tins - add egg mixture (like you were making scrambled eggs) and bake. They can be frozen even. I make them for a week and pop one in the microwave for a few seconds. -
I am guessing you just had surgery within the last couple of weeks. The reality is you simply cannot get it all in until the swelling goes down. You just do the best you can. The good news is, your body has stores of these nutritional elements so if you are not meeting your Protein goals the first several weeks it is no big deal. The most important thing is keeping your fluids up and it sounds like you are doing that, then just do what you can with the rest of your liquids. This is the priority: 1. Water/liquids - 48 to 64 oz will keep you hydrated 2. Protein - minimum of 1 gram for every inch you are tall (it will take a few weeks to begin to meet this daily) 3. Vitamins - these too can come a few weeks later, you have stores in your body 4. Exercise - work your way up by starting with walking until you are cleared You are already doing great with liquids, now just start sipping that protein. By the way, it is best icy cold. Good luck!

To lose a lot of weight in the 1st month and then stall is normal. Your body has a memory and it thinks something is wrong and is trying to stay at your previous weight. Just stick with it, don't over due it, and the weight will start coming off. I myself have very very slow weight loss. only about a pound per week. but the doc says that is a healthy way to lose. Good luck. You got this!
