Before I realized this forum used to be LapBandTalk which I was a member of 10+yrs ago, I created another profile here. I need to delete it so I can free up my current email address and add it to this profile. Can someone help me with that? I don't see the option to do it myself.

FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS
deltagirl93 replied to GreenTealael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great idea! I'm just so full as I write this because over the last 10 months, I'm down 108.7 lbs. I had a revision from the lap-band to SIPS and I couldn't be more happy. I did have some complications in the beginning which required a month long stay in the hospital, but even with that, I don't have any regrets! My life is on TEN!!! Even though I have not shared publicly my WLS experience with friends, people seem to be genuinely happy for the new me. I've always socialized, but I'm even more eager to hang out with my friends, go on couples dates, business social settings, etc. because I can easily find something to wear and feel even more confident in myself. I'm feeling great physically. No more back and knee pain. Off of all meds (blood pressure, cholesterol, symbicort breathing treatment) and off of CPAP machine for sleep apnea. Also, since having the lap-band removed as part of the revision, I no longer have acid reflux. While the vanity is great, the health benefits have me over the moon ecstatic! I'm sooooooooooo happy! -

November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
Happy Sleever replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
How is everyone doing that had surgery last week? I’m feeling pretty good today. Have all my water and food cups set up for the day with my timers set. Sept 279.5, Nov 7 255, (surgery nov 14) nov 19 236.00. I’m elated. I’m hoping for new year 199 but might be asking for to much there lol. Hope everyone is coping well -
@kata0683 I am going through the same thing. Was sleeved on 10/30 and lost 14 pounds. I haven’t list an ounce since the 13th and am a bit worried. I increased my food intake since I am eating soft foods now but haven’t lost anything since I started this new stage...I am having a protein shake in the morning, 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese for am snack, 2 egg white with fat free cheese for lunch, 1/4 cup of beans pm snack and anothe protein shake for dinner. Drinking 60-64oz of water and nothing. Maybe I should amp up the exercise 🤷♀️ any tips are appreciated.

Quick question: I've been advised to have mine removed by a GI doctor following 10 years of complications, but the doctor also said that unless the band slips, it won't be covered by insurance. Have any of you had to cover this expense out-of-pocket? I'm bothered that I have medical complications from a foreign object and cannot get it removed as medically necessary. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Losing more than the expected 40-60% ?
Diana_in_Philly replied to b_co's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
High weight - roughly 300. First appointment weight 271. Current weight 152. 2.5 years out. My BMI is technically 27 (overweight) but I look ridiculous any thinner, I'm post menopausal and my body fat is under 30%. My group has declared me a rock star. I am nationally ranked as a fencer in my age group. I plan my meals. I have just had to start to increase carbs from 60g daily to 100g daily because I tend to burn about 1000 cal a day with exercise and I do weight lifting to support my fencing - I was cannibalizing muscle due to not enough carbs. But its whole grain. Still few sugars. Almost no white flour. Pasta once every few months. Protein first. All The Time. A protein related snack in the morning and afternoon. 3-5 ounces of protein at each meal. Healthy green veg. About a gallon of water/unsweetened beverages a day. I treat myself occasionally. I eat about 1200 -1500 calories a day - 110g protein 100g carb. I still log everything in My Fitness Pal. If I don't exercise, I'm very careful about what I eat. I haven't had plastics and that would likely get rid of about 10 pounds of fat I'm carrying in the middle and excess boobage. But I'm not ready to do that yet. -
Losing more than the expected 40-60% ?
MarinaGirl replied to b_co's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 100% of my excess weight and have kept it off for 18 months. Things that helped me achieve this: 1. Months PRIOR to gastric bypass, I gave up the following: a. No carbonated or caffeinated beverages or juice b. No alcohol c. No artificial sweeteners d. No fast food e. Minimal processed food, desserts, bread, rice, or pasta f. Stopped drinking during and after meals g. No food funerals 2. I followed my bariatric surgeon’s instructions to the letter and did not advance my diet ahead of schedule. 3. I worked on my food and other issues with a therapist before and after surgery. 4. I started walking more before surgery and continued to increase my daily steps after surgery. 5. I cleaned out my closet of clothes that were too big as I lost weight. 6. I weigh my food because too large portion sizes (with mindless eating) was a main reason I got so heavy. 7. I no longer snack/graze all day. 8. I’m much kinder to myself post-surgery. If I overeat I don’t beat myself up and then binge; instead, I move on and eat less at my next meal. 9. I drink a lot more water now. 10. I weigh myself almost everyday. When I was overweight I didn’t weigh myself, which allowed me to be in denial about my true weight. Now it’s just data and I can course correct quickly if it starts to go up. -
Just had revision from Sleeve to SIPS
deltagirl93 replied to disco stu's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hello, I had a revision from the lap-band to SIPS on February 14th. I've lost about 108 lbs over the last 10 months. I am very pleased with this revision. I exercise 5-6 days a week, I've dropped my drive-thru queen habit and cook way more, and just overall eat better quality food. I don't diet per se, but again, eat more vegetables and protein and take it somewhat easy on the carbs. There really isn't anything that I can't eat. However, I don't push it, but allow myself an indulgence from time to time so I don't lose my mind. Of everything, the exercise is the most consistent routine I do in this entire process. I really try not to miss working out as I believe that it has been key in aiding the weight loss and will be key in keeping it off, because I'm not a perfect eater and will never be one, although better. Weight loss by month below. It's starting to taper down. I'm okay with that as I hit my initial goal of 190. My second goal of 170lbs is just 18lbs away. Anything I lose after that will be gravy as I carry weight pretty well. People already think that I'm much less than I actually am. Month 1 (Feb) = 13.6 Month 2 = 21.2 Month 3 = 10.8 Month 4 = 10.4 Month 5 = 11.9 Month 6 = 12.5 Month 7 = 6.9 Month 8 = 8 Month 9 = 8.4 Month 10 (Nov) = 5 - so far -
Losing more than the expected 40-60% ?
myfanwymoi replied to b_co's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started at BMI 39 went down to 19 and seem to have settled at 22 - 9stone 4lbs in English money! I'd like to drop a few again, but am at a healthy weight so working on tone with exercise. Like orchids and dragons I am post menopausal. I'd lost more than half my bodyweight now slightly less than that but not far off. And folk say I'd lost too much at my lowest which I found funny as it wasn't a concept I was familiar with. My tips for success? Follow rules and beware sugar because it's the devil. Not just because of dumping which is horrible but post dumping it's easy to allow it to sneak back in and I believe it to be a drug at least as dangerous as alcohol... Best of luck to you 😀 -
November 2018 sleevers
jesseycakes replied to Cheryl217's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We have the same date! I was originally going to have it done on 12/17, but the Dr. filled up that date. They called me to change it. It was either the following month or in 10 days (from the call). So I'm going in early! -
Anyone not approved yet but hoping for december?

My insurance already has it in my chart as in progress and they say to expect 5-10 days. I'm hoping that Thanksgiving doesn't delay me! -
4 months post gastric sleeve
likehasjustbegun posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you guys eating at 4 months post op? I’ve had trouble with eating things throughout this whole process because I pretty much don’t like much of anything :( chewing meat until it’s a mush has become so repulsive to me I end up spitting it out. I have no clue what to eat and I’m barely even getting 10 grams of protein a day. I’ve been craving a ham and cheese sandwich, has anyone had any experience with sandwiches? Please help! Thanks! :) -
Hello paddyski, I am feeling MUCH better. Thank you for asking. Yesterday was a significant improvement for me. It was my first day that I was able to go for a short walk (only the length of 5 neighbor houses and back) but a start. Baby steps. It was a beautiful day (mid-60s) so when we returned I sat in my rocker outside for about 3 hours and watched my family clean gutters and work around the yard. It was such a blessing to get the Vitamin D and just be outside. I figured I was still following quarantine orders since I was not interacting with anyone. I am finding it a little difficult to get all my liquid and protein in on some days, for the most part I'm good. I have to take my antibiotic treatment for the c. diff every 6 hours, so that requires me waking up constantly. If I have a hard time falling back asleep, it has effect a few days where I don't even start eating (drinking) my protein until 10:20am and at that point it's very hard to get it all in during the day. I've made a conscious effort to wake up by 7:30am no matter how tired I am and begin my fluids/protein and just take naps along the way. I know once I complete the antibiotics (Thanksgiving day) it will be a huge improvement in my sleep, which of course will help with my healing.

I just had my surgery 10/29. I lost 24 pounds on the liquid diet, and then 17 my first week after surgery. Then nothing. lol, I thought I was gonna be the one this didnt work for, that my stomach was too big, that I was just not able to lose weight. Stayed that way for almost 2 weeks, now blammo, 3 days 6 pounds gone. I am breathing again lol. The weirdest part is that what appears to have triggered the new weight loss is that I have been able to eat about an oz more than I had and it feels perfect and comfortable and honestly really good to eat what feels like a normal amount lol. So basically I feel fabulous eating 3-4oz a meal (about 1/2 cup). My head and mouth seem satisfied along with my stomach! My calories increased by about 75 to 100 (25 to 35 a meal). My fatigue is way better and honestly, I feel amazing! Now that I had my first period of not losing anything for almost 2 weeks, then watching it come off again, I am way less worried. I just needed to come out the other side of it and lose again to be sure I wasn't just gonna already stop losing forever lol! You will really get there and I understand. Its hard to be patient but just keep doing what's recommended and it continues to work! Thank goodness!

Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass ADELAIDE AUSTRALIA anyone here from Australia

That's the first I've heard about any Medicare rebate. I'll have to make an appointment with the surgery and ask those specific questions. I was told Medicare Will only pay if you meet the standard for public surgery not private. I've still got 10 months wait as I've just started with PHI Tnx -

4 week post-op weight loss meltdown
catwoman7 replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
a majority of people experience their first stall about three weeks after surgery (search for "the three week stall" (it even has a name!)). The first month or so is also when you'll typically see your biggest losses, after that, your 2.2 lbs a week thing is pretty common. Just stick to your plan and the weight will come off. After the first month, I lost about 10-12 lbs a month for awhile (and once I was about six or seven months out, it came off even slower). But I've lost over 200 lbs in total, so it does work as long as you stick to your program. -

I am going to have my bypass done in Feb 2018. Did you go on any special diet beforehand? If so where can I find a diet to follow before surgery? Thank You for your help. My sister had bypass 10 years ago and said she never had dumping. I have asked her questions and she said that she didn't really follow any special diet in the months before just right before surgery.

What are your favorite protein bars?
Frustr8 replied to kordie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Luna, at least they have a lemon one, so fed up with protein bar companies cramming chocolate down a weight loss person's throat, Geez Louise, I am not the only, one intolerant or down right allergic to the stuff! And while we are are on the subject, all I can find are vanilla or chocolate protein shakes, I am 23 miles from the nearest Sams Club and 40,miles from Costco so neither is an option. And one gets so sick on. vanilla, nearly 4 weeks pre and 10+ post, and the Bariatric Pal ones the best is Orange Creamsicle and I'm getting, low,on it. -
4 week post-op weight loss meltdown
KT1981 replied to KT1981's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The protein/caloric intake is something I'm confused about, too. I'm supposed to be advancing my diet, but the only way to meet my protein goal is to do 2 Premier Protein shakes a day, which basically uses all of my calories for the day, so I can't really advance. Even more confusing is that I'm supposed to be working up to 80g of protein per day, but am not going to be increasing my calories for another 2 months, and even then, I'll only get 500 calories (or possibly a few more depending on my workouts). I have a follow up in about 10 days so I'll ask for clarification on all that. I am having trouble even getting to 64 oz of water, so I will keep working on that. Thank you for the response. I really appreciate it! I will keep at the water intake!
