My surgeon was okay with driving as long as you were no longer taking meds. Fortunately I was never in pain and didn't have to take the prescribed pain medication or Tylenol. However, I waited 10+ days after surgery before driving because I was so lightheaded/dizzy due to dehydration. Once I got that under control, I was ready. First of all stay positive. Don't let it get you down. Start small. I find that an egg with some cheese and salsa keeps me pretty full for a while. Try egg for breakfast. If you like it do an egg for lunch too. Whatever it takes. I make mine inside a pepper ring. I cook my pepper ring first to soften it then crack the egg inside the pepper. Let it cook up then add my toppings. I'm 10 weeks out and can only handle 1 egg. Hopefully starting small will give you the strength to get through it. Good luck to you.

I quit smoking cigs daily back in July. I have had a couple cheat days here and there and had my last cig on Nov 20th. I wont take the nicotine test until December 14th so that will put me a little over 3 weeks completely nicotine free. My question is, will this be enough time for the nicotine to clear out of my blood so I can pass the test? I'm supposed to be nicotine free at least 3 months before I have surgery but I'm not sure If the blood test can detect nicotine for that long. I've heard its only detectable for about 10 days after your last cig. Has anyone passed a nicotine test after only being nicotine free for about 3 weeks? I’m 52 and was sleeved on 10/10/18. I’m probably losing slower than younger people but I really don’t compare. I’m just happy I’m losing!! Last week I finally hit the 200’s for the first time in FOREVER and I feel awesome! My surgery weight was 327 (highest was 365) and currently 295!

OCTOBER SLEEVERS CHECK IN HERE
Twinmom3330 replied to RomAnca's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 10/17 ... from April 9 to surgery date .... lost 47 lbs with MWM and after surgery have lost an additional 20 lbs in the 6 weeks. I’m having trouble getting the 60-80 g of protein in each day! I don’t want anymore protein shakes.. too sweet for me and I’m so over yogurt! I’m great with my water intake and hit my exercise goal each day! Love my treadmill! -
My VSG is scheduled for January 7th, 2019. I have to get it done before school starts up, which is January 14th. Is anyone else celebrating getting a surgery date like I am!?

So man. What a day! Surgery went text book according to surgeon. I was on the table for 55min. He told me it was obvious that I had rocked the preop diet, as he could have likely done the surgery without a liver retractor. I was in recover for about 2 hours because I kept going apneic on the pain meds, so they had to keep the doses low, which sucked. Once I got back to the room, and got on my personal CPAP machine things progressed much better. I’m on icechips only until tomorrow morning. Let me tell yah. The dry mouth is no joke! I did 10 laps around the floor I’m on 1 hour after arriving to my room. Since then I’ve done between 8-15 laps every hour I was awake. (I slept for a few hours) All the people that told you walking is the only thing that helps gas pain? Listen to them! I’ve attached a pic of my ugly mug after walking the floor for 15 laps. Best wishes to everyone! I’ll update when They advance my diet.

My appointment with the patient coordinator went well-ish, I get my ass chewed out a little bit for drinking alcohol while on vacation last month but in the end I got my surgery date which is on January 7th, 2019! I’m beyond excited.

@CristinHope I have had two stalls so far. One 4 days and one 3 days. It’s natural to get them for a few days. But 10 days at 4 weeks post op is a bit much. You really do need to drink water-both times my stalls were fixed by going from about 40oz of water a day to 70-80. It sucks and it is hard to find the time to get it in without making yourself sick, but you need water to metabolize the fat according to my nutritionist. Without the water as a catalyst you can’t convert it down. Also most people I talk to locally experience a 5-7 day stall around the 3 week mark and it sounds like yours is lasting a bit longer. Definitely reach out to your doctor and let them know, but in the meantime try to get 72oz if water or. More a day for the next 2-3 days, and also make sure you are going #2.

I'm in a stall and it's really starting to frustrate me. The scale hasn't moved at all in 10 days. I am 4 weeks post-op today. I know that I need to increase my water, I'm really trying! But how am I consuming less than 500 calories a day and not actively losing? I know it's all part of the process but it's getting me down.

1st Surgeon Appointment Today <insert internal scream>
🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺 replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Great!!! Love the surgeon. He's really straight forward, informative and a smidge goofy. Excellent combo. Until my new insurance cards get here in a few weeks, they can't check the policy for the detailed requirements. As far as what's next...all I need to do is an in-office psych eval (no matter if insurance requires it or not), EGD, cardiac stress test, and possibly just one more nutrition visit (depending on insurance requirement) that they already scheduled for 01/14/19. New insurance and FSA account will be in effect 01/01/19 sooooo...anyone have a time machine so I can fast forward this torturous waiting game?! LOLOL -
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's weight loss challenge
LadySin replied to Healthy_life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Challenge Starting weight: My current weight is unknown I last weighted myself a week ago. I was becoming obsessed with the scale so I had to take it to the basement behind the furnace. I feel so free! I'll weigh myself the morning of my next MD appointment. December 27th Current weight lost: 23lbs Losing or maintaining weight: losing Fitness/exercise goal: I bought this awesome desk elliptical thingy called Cubii jr. I love it! I use it at my desk all day. I'm gonna have legs like Tina Turner! I also do upper body weight training with resistance bands. Total weight loss at the end of challenge: (Post January 1st 2019) Check in: Tell us how you are doing - (How is your diet and exercise plan going? Any struggles? Stress level? What have you overcome? Any strategies that have helped) Right now I'm still pre op. I've been approved and I'm awaiting surgery January 15. I'm really good at losing a lot of weight because I practice IF. Problem is I don't stick with it. Knowing I'm going to have surgery has made sticking to a good diet really easy. I put myself on a kinda Optifast diet. Lots of clean protein shakes and 1 meal. I consume about 800 calories a day, very little carbs. My goal is to be 245 on my day of surgery! -
Today, only 10 weeks post op I have hit the 1/2 way mark to my goal. 20 kg down, 20 to go. I'm really hoping to have it gone by April 2019 as I'm going to meet my sister in Morocco and I'd like to be able to do everything we want to do. Bypass has been one of the best decisions I've made.

I was sleeved 10/30/17 and I’ve lost 136 pounds. This week I had a full knee replacement and I’m really happy to get to this point. I’m 60lbs from my goal weight. With my new knee I’ll be able to workout more. But life is better, and I’m glad I had the weight loss surgery.

Christmas snack recipes ideas add one
Jazzy1125 replied to wade5901's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I cant wait to see what is all in here. Christmas will be the start of my real food stage LOL.. I am needing to get to World Market for Peppermint flavoring from Torani. I have so much of those syrups because I been using them for years that I buy 10-12 bottles at a time since the store is like a 30 min drive LOL -
I was clear to drive at the 10 days mark but every Dr is different ask your Dr see what he tells you

I was just sleeved 6 days ago, and found a chicken broth with 9 grams of protein. I add a tspoon of better than boullion which makes it a total of 10 grams of protein for 8 oz. Trader Joe’s bone broth also has good protein (10 grams for 8 oz) in it. Good luck!
