Stomach feels bigger and more bloated than before
Nikki@50 replied to Brittneykdelacruz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thank you![emoji4] It's great to know I'm not alone in this. I do exactly the same as you, I roll my pants down or wear very loose joggers. I wasn't expecting to still feel this way after 7 weeks though. X Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm sure we'll get there in the end. I'm only managing the toilet once a week and that's with taking laxatives!!!![emoji85] Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app -
Exactly 1 week post-op
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to BariBlonde's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me and this!!!! I was JUST dealing with this. There's really nothing to do except ride it out. I still had pain meds left, so I took one that day and didn't do my normal walk. I was ok the next day. But it would come and go for like 3 days or something. I normally only took Tylenol for pain, but on the days I was dealing with this, I did take my pain meds from the doctor. -

You may still have swelling & strained muscles. They pump you full of fluids & gas & prod & poke you internally during the surgery. And of course the inflammation swelling from the actual surgery on your tummy like any wound. I had a sort of general tenderness & found anything tight on my waist uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. I used to roll down the waist of my pants so they sat on my hips & often gently rested my hand on my tummy under my pants. It was sort of comforting like I was protecting it. It will pass. Just give yourself time to heal & recover. -
Tins of beans, tomatoes, chick peas, lentils, vegetables & fish, dried barley, etc. Keep powdered stock on hand too. You’ll get protein from the beans, chick peas, barley & lentils. I always have frozen vegetables on hand too just in case & keep rotating out & using frozen mince, chicken thighs, diced beef, etc. & freezing fresh packs. I can shop from my pantry & freezer for a couple of weeks.

I'm excited. My diet looks a little different. Pre-op is 2 weeks of liquid diet (4 protein shakes a day) Post op Day 1-2 clear liquids (60g protein goal) Day 3-5 clear liquids + 2 protein shakes (minimum 60g protein daily going forward) Day 6-13 full liquids Day 14-21 puree Day 22-29 soft foods Day 30+ healthy solid food Sent from my Pixel 6 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I’ve been doing really well… until last night. My right side is suddenly so painful, but only when standing and walking. It’s so bad that I don’t know if I can even manage to shower tonight. I have this persistent heaviness and tugging sensation, and while I understand why, it’s quite painful. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Me too! I rotate between beans the ricotta bake. I am 4 1/2 weeks out.
-
Ooh you mean within 4 weeks. Ooh okay. I thought you meant overall. I was like ummmm I think that’s a bit conservative.
-
No, as a general guideline I suppose. She said most lose more than that but as a general guideline that amount seems to be the average lost in 4 weeks post op (Im guessing for lower BMI ppl probably but who knows). Of course each person is different.

Why did you choose VSG over other bariatric surgeries?
Crisscat replied to ManicPixie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ditto to everyone else's replies. Didnt want the rearranging of my insides and I felt the sleeve would be more beneficial for me and hopefully get the same results if not better than what is predicted. Im just totally stoked that my BMI has dropped 3 points since my surgery date of 5/3!! -
I had my sleeve on 5/3 and I have done great as well. Struggled a bit at first meeting fluid goal but I am doing better with that except today lol. I had no nausea, no pain after the 3rd day post op, Ive taken no pain medication since my 1 day stay at the hospital. About day 6/7 post op I had to kick the commercial protein shakes to the curb. I gagged on them when I tried to drink them. I choked them down but on day 7 I totally stopped them as I was tired of gagging. I then began making protein smoothies with sugar free whey isolate protein powder in creamy vanilla. I added Silk unsweetened almond milk with my protein powder. Now I have no problem drinking the smoothies I make. I am down 14 lbs in 9 days yay. Since starting the protein smoothies I feel GREAT. The hardest thing Ive had to deal with is the horrific constipation. Yes, I have been on 2 tablets twice daily of Colace every single day and although it may have softened an already hard stool I didnt see much help from it. So 2 days ago I added some much needed natural fiber and finally today I was able to lose 2 lbs of poo 💩 LMAO 😂. I will certainly not allow that to happen EVER again lol.

Marijuana Use and Nausea
Sleeve_Me_Alone replied to stewy56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cannabis hyperemesis syndrome is a thing. Likely has nothing to do with your surgery, just your use. It often starts with nausea and grows into recurrent vomiting. Mode of delivery doesn't matter, the only thing that resolves it is cutting it out. If you go a week without and the nausea resolves, you'll have your answer. -
Oh, gosh, the super nose. My sense of smell was ridiculous for the first 3-4 months. It has backed off a bit in the past few months. It still more sensitive than it was in the beginning. I basically turned into a bloodhound and could smell everything.
-
Well apparently talking about it set things off because i got a notification of a decent amount of work next week... LMAO hahaha.

Marijuana Use and Nausea
FutureSylph replied to stewy56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It might be the vaping that's causing the nausea. If you're unwilling to give up cannabis for more than a week, you could try edibles instead and see if that helps. -
Interesting. I am almost at week 4 and the only taste change i have had is certain drinks i dont like anymore.
-
It's been since about week 3 roughly. Meats are particularly gross smelling and I'm struggling to eat a reasonable amount of anything. I know it's hormonal but I just want to know if things will get easier. X Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you for responding [emoji4]. I have spoken to my doctor and he said that I've obviously responded extremely well to the surgery!! I have to wait until next week to speak to my nutritionist. I'm really hoping that it will go away. Sent from my SM-G980F using BariatricPal mobile app

Marijuana Use and Nausea

Why stop at a week? Keep going! I agree, drugs are a bad idea post weight loss surgery 😊 -
Hummm. Never heard of that. I don’t recall how many weeks I was when I was on purées though. Could’ve been around the same time frame.
-
I can’t have the sauce until week 8 🙄 the dietician won’t approve Alfredo substitute either. So I wait. It’s literally saved in my phone for when I can have it 👌

I had gastric bypass in Oct 2019, within the last 6 months (or so), I have been vaping THC pretty regularly. Slowly, I've had nausea feelings everyday. Some days worse than others (like today). At first I thought I'll just vape some more and this will take care of my nausea (like cancer patients will do for pain and nausea). Well, the nausea seems to be getting worse and I think there is a connection (duh). Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if THC is NOT a good thing for bariatric patients? I'm going to stop for a week and see what happens. I'll keep you updated. Stewy56

Stomach feels bigger and more bloated than before
Brittneykdelacruz posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello! i am new here I had gastric sleeve surgery on May 3. I started my journey in December. My first scan at my appointment I weighed 264 pounds, yesterday at my checkup i weighed 234. I am struggling because my stomach feels so large. I can’t even wear my exercise pants from when I was 264 pounds, they feel like they put so much pressure on my abdomen which in turn puts pressure in my chest making me very uncomfortable. My belly feels bigger than it did 30 pounds ago. I don’t understand what’s happening. I would assume that I’m losing weight in other parts of my body. Could this be some sort of post op bloating? Even taking a deep breath is uncomfortable, it reminds me of when I was super pregnant I'm really bummed. im hoping someone might have some insight. Thank you guys
