The Blue Bunny yogurt you're referring to is the "Lite 85" line. My favorite flavors are the Cherry Vanilla and the Vanilla Bean. Mmmmm. -

Mickie Vest replied to SabrinaM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nauseous when taking my meds in the hospital (not just pain meds). I started taking them with a drink they gave me in the hospital and now that I'm at home I take them with a bit of sugar free yogurt. -

Feel Like I'm Going To Lose It Trying To Decide
Queen of Crop replied to Joy1961's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just remember the first few weeks can be a bit surreal...I agree, the protein options are not great, but every day your options expand and things get better. I opted for yogurt drinks and stirred in some unflavored protein; that seemed to help. Then I just started putting it in oatmeal, malt-o-meal, creamy soups, anything to help me get it in; but I never got over 35 grams. Some people will tell you that you MUST; but all I'm saying is that I never made it and things have worked out just fine. Try making some Jello or jello pudding too. And be sure to walk to help the gas. Remember, you just had major surgery. Soon you will start seeing the rewards...honest! -
Not getting enough calories or protein!
NMJG replied to Ree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is not at all unusual to be so low in calories a month out, also, don't do the "net calories" bs from your tracker, just count real calories. However, you do need to bump your protein grams. Lots of good suggestions on here. Cottage cheese, tuna, greek yogurt, cheese sticks, eggs, soft broiled fish, heck - even a glass of milk will do the trick. Focus on fluids and protein and you'll be fine. It gets better. If you can find a protein shake that you like, even better. It is hard to get enough protein in without a shake. I like Unjury chicken broth protein drink and hemp protein mixes for a real change of pace. I keep half a dozen different protein shakes/powders in the house because I get so tired of the same ones. Good luck to you. -
Post-Op Diet
ireallywannabthin replied to whitneytij's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First five days after surgery were clear liquids including water, crystal light, diet snapple, tea, sf ice pops, and low sodium broth. I took was utterly sick of those by day 3! The next two weeks consisted of 3 protein shakes a day and water, crystal light, diet snapple, or tea to hit 64 oz. the neat phase (which I'm currently on) is 2 protein shakes a day and 1 soft food meal a day including protein and veggies (3oz. Each) and if needed a light snack anywhere in the day (typically string cheese, cottage cheese, or Greek yogurt). My next phase will be solids and my dr recommends either 1 or 2 shakes a day and 1 solid meal for optimum weight loss. I may do 1 a day because I can't live forever on 2 shakes and a meal forever. -
Not getting enough calories or protein!
MGR1852 replied to Ree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ree, I can totally relate. I can't stand the shakes. Premier is disgusting! Syntrax is disgusting! Even the thought of a shake makes me want to throw up! Today, I have 215 net calories and 33 grams of protein. I ate half of a Premier protein bar for breakfast, 2 oz of turkey & 1 slice of Swiss cheese for lunch, and about 3 ozs of broccoli cheese soup for dinner. I had a frozen yogurt for a snack. I have only gotten about 16 ozs of water today. I am 5 weeks out and just struggling. -
My doctor did not have me on straight liquids right after post-op - I went straight to the pureed stage. For the first couple of weeks, I LIVED on blenderized lentil soup! My favorite is the one from Trader Joe's in the big can. All vegetarian, inexpensive, high protein, and DELICIOUS!! My surgeon is a huge fan of lentils post surgery - calls them one of nature's most perfect foods. He says that fish is the other perfect food. Not sure if you are lacto-ovo, vegan, or a pescetarian, but if fish figures into your plan at all, it is a great back-up protein once you get to soft foods. I also do non-fat vanilla greek yogurt, mixed with PB2 (powdered peanut butter). The combo packs a huge protein punch and is absolutely delicious! Cottage cheese is also great in the soft food phase.

My rule of thumb with yogurt was a 1 to 1 ratio, protein to carbs. So it sounds like yours is pretty good. The first month (to me) is about healing, not weight loss, so do what you need to. When you are on solid foods, it will be much easier to transition to higher protein/lower carb choices.

Hi All, I am Tammy! I was sleeved on 9/27 at the University of Minnesota with Dr. Ikramuddin! For 3 days I thought I made the biggest mistake ever. I had so much pain etc... I didn't notice a big difference until about 7 days out. It didn't help that I had a cough, that may have made things worse. OUCH! Today I am so thrilled so far with my sleeve. I have lost 31 pounds today, 9 pre op. I couldn't be happier and already feel so much better and have more energy. The weight is starting to slow down which is depressing, I want it to all fall off today... I am just so excited for the future and for every morning to feel a little lighter. So anyone out there with surgery coming up or just thinking about it, GO FOR IT! I have been starting on my normal diet and trying to get Protein in. Thank goodness I love meat and cheese and yogurt. We have been getting really clever with meals! I took 5 weeks off from work and have this whole week left. Last week I finally felt back to normal and started walking etc. I have had quite a bit of heartburn though, so taking Prilosec and have Pepcid and Tums on hand. It seems to take the heartburn away really quickly so that is good! Anyways, I just wanted to share my story so far and introduce myself to this site!!!

Hello everyone, My surgery was June 24th. I was cleared for full liquids yesterday. I am allowed all Protein shakes, no fat yogurt, sugar free applesauce, sugar free pudding, cream Soups with no lumps, etc. I can't seem to swallow anything thicker than my Protein shake without feeling like a lump is in my throat for hours. I had 1/4 teaspoon of the applesauce earlier and immediately got the lump and nausea. I'm not sure how anyone else does it! Does this mean I probably just still have swelling and should stick to the shakes for now? I can swallow them just fine and fluids just fine. I haven't called the doc because I'm not in pain, I just can't get anything that seems like "food" down. Thanks for listening to me whine. Let me know if you experienced anything similar. Chelle

Why are there so many different requirements for liquid diet? Some can have greek yogurt some can't. Some lean meats some can't. I wonder what is really necessary. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi. I am 3.5 weeks out, and I have been having alot of problems eating and drinking. I was put on meats, cheese, soft veggies...pretty much anything since day 6. I think it was too early. I have been nauseaus and not wanting food (or drinks) I was taken off shakes (which I can't get down anyway) and yogurt. My question is, i know that we are supposed to eat yogurt with more protein than sugar, but since I'm having so much trouble, would it hurt to eat one that has 13g sugar and 11g protein? Even if just until I can eat better? Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Need suggestions... Please
kmorri replied to kristiw14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes like @@KristenLe said my first question is what phase of your diet are you on? Are you on full liquids yet? If so try some strained creamed Soup or yogurt........if you're still on clear liquid if Crystal Light is too sweet like @@Valentina said Water it down............or better yet, there is always just plan old water. I also like the Mio water enhancers I don't have a favorite I like a bunch of different ones. Hang in there and follow your plan....... -
I am 18 days out and i've been having the same issues. In fact i was becoming undernurished and my nutritionist told me to start drinking smoothies made with greek yogurt, fairlife milk, and fruit. All Protein is disgusting to me except the Atkins Carmel Cafe shakes, and those have a lot of fat in them, so I was told to limit them to once a day. As far as Water I was only gettng about 24 oz in.. So my NUT told me to add fruit slices(just dont eat the fruit) So i've been adding lemon and orange slices to my water. Since surgery I cannot tolerate crystal light. I've also made a batch of the Starbucks Tazo Passion Fruit Iced Tea and I mix in the MInute Maid light 5 calorie lemonade and it helps get fluids in also. I'm currently choking down an Isopure Zero Carb-- at the very least it helps me get my water in, because for every drink I take I have to chase it with water.

Your doctor has a food plan for a specific reason. I've posted this before, but my plan called for starting on soft food the first day I was home (and I only stayed at the hospital one night). The day after surgery, in the hospital, I started with Clear Liquids in the morning (jello and broth) and full liquids (tomato Soup, yogurt) in the afternoon and then I went home. It was a horrible 40 minute ride home because I had really bad heartburn from the tomato soup and the Prevacid hadn't kicked in yet. Personally, I was scared to death to try soft foods the next day after reading how everyone else was on liquids for a few weeks - but it all worked out okay. Granted Protein shakes were still my main source of protein, or Protein powder mixed into pudding.

November 7th is the day!
Sleeve me alone! replied to scorp2413's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
(Post OP) I started walking in the mall everyday after surgery. It help me recover quickly. Drink plenty of fluids!!!!!! Protein shakes are really difficult after surgery. I have bought protein broths, drinks, gatorade with protein, and greek yogurt with 2X's the protein. I feel like a million bucks -
I'm Pre-Op and don't like them that much already. So, I tell myself it's a smoothie. I mix a little bit of frozen blueberries, a tablespoon of greek yogurt and sometimes (if you can tolerate it--depending on where you are with your recovery) fresh spinach. Put it all in the blender and it's a smoothie. You can't taste the spinach--it just makes it less protien shake--like.

Can you call the doctor and ask about yogurt? Every doctor has their own protocol but I was able to have yogurt after a few days. I got the high protein Greek ones with low sugar.

i've been eatting mash squash, mash potatoes, yogurt, lentils so far nothing works everything goes out giving me a terrible pain on my stomach

Good! I have not really felt sensation of hunger but more tired of having little options so that is probably why the short temper. I go to doctor on 6th and can't wait hoping u can move to soft foods. Yogurt, chicken broth protein, and isopure you can only have so much if and in variety. Any suggestions on what you all ate during the full liquid stage? Thank you all for responding.

I haven't done granola because of the sugar. I'm sure there is a healthy option. I just haven't searched for it. I will pop a few raw almonds into my yogurt to keep me sustained. Yummy too!

I may be being ridiculous here but I feel I should ask just to give myself peace of mind and everyone is so wonderful on here it helps so much! I had surgery Monday and I've already moved onto Mushies as I've literally had no issues at all. All pain is gone apart from obviously a little from the incisions when I bend and get up etc. But other than that I'm literally back to normal. I have no appetite but I'm still looking for good which I'm guessing is normal as I'm off work and bored (I know this is my main down fall I need to work on!!!) but if I do have something it's literally like 3 tea spoon fulls of yogurt or some smoothie or something. I've had one very tiny bowl of mash potato for dinner in the last two days and that's pretty much it!!!! I don't understand why I haven't lost any weight.... I'm not expecting a miracle by any means but I'm eating soooo little I thought id have lost SOMETHING in the last 5 days?! Can the weight be from swelling or anything as my tummy is still pretty swollen! Just some advice would be lovely thankyou xxxx

I think I might have thrush going? I'm 8 days postop and finished my antibiotic yesterday. I waited until yesterday to add drinkable yogurt because my paper said no sugar and low fat yogurt. I couldn't find this anywhere so finally found a low sugar low fat one. Anyways yesterday I noticed the way back of my tongue felt a bit sore and thought oh crap I'm getting sick. Today I noticed my tongue was covered in white and felt weird but it was right after I had my yogurt. Tried with all my might to brush all that crap off and was only able to get a little. Anyone else have this issue?
