Took two weeks off and I have a desk job. Can't imagine doing that kind of work one week post op, but then again, I'm probably a lot older than you. -
Surgery Ply Starting A New Job Help!!

Hopefully your doc's scheduler can help move you up a week or two! I would definitely ask for an earlier date! -
Hehehe, Doug rushed himself to emergency once from work, worried that his kidneys were about to pack it up, the culprit- beetroot sandwiches, he'd eaten every day for a week.

Congratulations on the start of your journey. All doctors are different with the frequency of fills and the decaf as well. My doctor said no coffee anymore because even decaf has c affine in it. C affine dehydrates you. But he said I could have decaf tea. I do know people that drink coffee so again it's all up to you and your doctor. I would ask your doctor. As for the fills they are usually every 6 weeks for the first year. After that they are when you need them. I hope this helps a little. If you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. -
Just because you're in a rush, doesn't mean you have to sacrifice readiness for health. Egg Mug Scramblers are a fast and easy breakfast that tastes great, this specific recipe below is the cheese and herb egg scrambler. If you're in a hurry and need to take something to go, simply use a microwave safe mug. However, if you have time to sit down and enjoy breakfast, this recipe is great on French toast or a whole wheat tortilla wrap. Ingredients: PAM Original No-Stick Cooking Spray 1/2 cup Egg Beaters 100% Liquid Egg Whites (or 3 egg whites) 1 wedge light garlic & herb spreadable cheese, chopped Directions: Spray inside of large microwave-safe mug with cooking spray. Stir together Egg Beaters and cheese in mug. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute. Stir; microwave 15 seconds more or until set. Serve immediately. Notice: I like using liquid egg substitutes because they take out all the fat and cholesterol, but still contain all the nutrients and vitamins.

Well, went to the Dr. for my post op follow up and I actually lost 4 pounds. I was certain that I had gained weight because I've been eating everything under the sun. Sure, at some point I just stop because I can't continue eating, but I was sure that I was going to gain weight. So, I'm 248 and will be getting my first fill in 3 weeks. Talked with a co-worker yesterday and she is having hesitations about getting the lap band because she won't be able to eat the foods that she used to. She still doesn't know that I have had the surgery and not quite sure if I'll ever tell anyone at work. But she's getting a little nervous because there's someone at our job who has had the surgery and they talk about not being able to eat all the different types of foods they had in the past. Well, isn't that the point of the surgery. I tried to relieve some of her fears, but who am I? She doesn't know that I had the surgery, so what can I tell her. Oh what a tangled web we weave....

Hi Everyone, I was just hoping to find out what made you finally decide to do lapband??? I'm having a hard time making the decision, mostly because of finances. In the past I have tried Herbal Magic, Jenny Craig, Bernsteins and Weight Watchers. With all of them I managed to lose a little bit of weight but would then plateau and after a couple months of not achieving anything, would give up. And of course the weight would come back. I, once again, started WW approx. 6 weeks ago and have actually managed to gain 3 lbs. I don't know anyone who was had lapband surgery before so I'm hoping I can be motivated by all your success stories.

I was already at 3 cc with absolutely no restriction. He added 2 cc. I am now at 4 cc because he took 1 cc out at the ER. I think he yelled at me more because I said I had eaten a cheeseburger. I wasnt sure what the big deal was because I honestly didnt realize that meat and cheese were that bad. I mean I could have said I'd eaten a pint of ice cream ya know... I have repeatedly told him that I am stay at home mom to a 1 and 2 yr old and my husband is out of town 4 days a week and the 3 days he is home he works 12 hour shifts at their sister hospital. Sometimes I have to eat whatever I can get my hands on. Oh well. Live and learn. -
Just take it slow and listen to your body. I couldn't guzzle water after my surgery, I just could take sips. But, each day gets better. By this time next week you won't even be able to tell you had surgery....Best of luck to you:D

Help please, need advice from other pcosers

I wouldn't consider myself successful yet, but I am pleased with my weight loss so far. Have you had a fill yet? It's very common to stop losing weight once that swelling goes down, at least until you get a fill. Let's see.......3 tips would be......... 1. Try to keep it low carb. You don't have to do the Atkins Diet or anything, just eat lean Proteins first, then move to a non-starchy vegetable, then if there is room, eat a piece of fruit or something. 2. Definitely do cardio. I don't exercise like I should and have been pretty lucky so far, but I can tell you right now, my luck is starting to run out. Exercise is going to be key for me to continue losing. It would serve you well to get in the habit now. 3. If you do weights, only do them every other day. Your muscles need time to rest. My doctor said that was very important. I wish you the best of luck on your journey! Even though this may be a slower process for us PCOS'ers, it is definitely possible, so don't give up. Good luck to you. Oh, I take Actos Metformin and I am pretty sure has helped with my weight loss. Have you been taking any meds? Oh, and one more thing, I try to keep my calories around 800, sometimes 1000. -
I hated that catheter. Please ask for something for the nausea. They have several meds. Some intravenous and some transdermal. I've had several surgeries and realize anesthesia makes me sick as a dog after. I had it set up before surgery that I be double dosed for nausea before I woke and that was a huge concern. We knew I would have vomiting from going under. Period. I couldn't walk that first night due to nausea and almost threw up but didn't, thank goodness. As for the water...I feel full all the time and it was impossible for me to get as much as they wanted me to. That said. You sit there and hold that cup and sip every minute. I watched the clock. Then once recovered, I would sit with my Tervis cup full of flavored ice water and sip. And sip. Then pretty soon I could take a drink...a NORMAL drink. I now get over 100 ounces of water a day. It will become habit for you to get your water. It just takes time. Now I feel gross if I don't drink enough fluids. The problem is that if you don't drink enough you'll get so dehydrated that you'll end up in the hospital on bagged fluids. I went hiking after 4 months. I didn't take enough water and it was a 5 hour hike. It didn't sound like 5 hours when someone said "5 mile". Ugh. I really almost died. I'm shocked that I didn't have to go to the hospital. I totally quit sweating at mile 3. I will NEVER make that mistake again.

Hi all, just thought i would start a new thread. I have been researching lap bands on the internet for a week now. I am 23 and i have always suffered with my weight. I have done weight watchers, been sent to some women from the nhs who i had classes with about food and exercise, (I know it all but i just cant put it in to theory), i have tried reductil, xcenicol, none of them have ever made much difference. Im fed up of being the girl with pretty face, oh and big boobs, lol. they are a plus to my size, the only one mind. Anyway after physchin meself up i finally went the doctors today, and she agreed i have to have some tests over me periods being so irregular as in not had one for 5 months and then i have to go back to my doc and she is going to refer me, IM MADE UP. My boyf said yesterday what makes you think you will get one??? So when she agreed to get the ball rolling, i coulda kissed her!! maybe not but im made up. As far as im concerned life can only get better. sorry for so much chatting just wanted to tell some one, anyone !!! natty13 xx:biggrin::eek::mad::tongue::biggrin:

My doc said to advance to stage 2 diet upon discharge from the hospital. This includes a pre determined amount of the following... yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, cream of wheat, jello, soup, SF pudding for one meal and 60 - 80 oz protein via shake broken into meals or however we can get it in us...sipping all day, whatever.....it trips me out that some people are still on clear liquids for weeks.

IT'S A WAITING GAME & I DON'T PLAY WELL
mrs kaje replied to GEAUX SAINTS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only a couple of weeks - you're so lucky! I started the ball rolling in September last year and can't even get an initial consult until mid-February. Then I need to wait until early December to get the procedure, when my insurance finally kicks in. I'd happily swap places
