    What length is your bypass?

as of Jan 1, 2019 I weigh 140lbs from my revision on Apr 11, 2018. My weight loss has slowed but I work out 3-4 days/week and run a 3mi almost daily

    What length is your bypass?

It’s interesting you say that because I just had the MGB done in Guadalajara and Dr. Alejandro Lopez (great doctor btw) said he took up 450 cm, which is about 14 ft in my calculations. I assume that because I weighed 214 lbs, 5’5” with a 35 BMI is maybe why. I know most are between 6-10’ in length bypassed. Shocked me so I kept asking to make sure I was understanding the number correctly. Maybe because I was low BMI he took that much up too? I’m not sure. 🤔

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Thank you, @sideeye ! I did an "official" Jan 1 weigh-in this morning. Even though I backslid a bit over Christmas, my official total loss for 2018 is 114.2 pounds. Looking forward to hitting goal in 2019!

    Hospital Stay?

In and Out, for you, Good without a doubt! Happy 2019 Jultrim18!❤!
  7. This is a personal reflection. I felt like 2018 was a really bad year. Work drama, lots of stress, personal concerns. Just not really happy in general. Then I remembered that 2018 will always be the year I had gastric bypass, and it is changing my life. 2018 has set me up for a terrific 2019. Down 50 pounds in 4 months and RUNNING again. I love to run. I feel free and it takes away all my stress. So thank you 2018! Thank you for everything and for bringing me to a new year full of promise! Happy new year, pals! May this year be your year of change too!
  8. What are your resolutions for this New Years? WLS related or non?
  9. Debby you are now going to be a Zippidy Doo Dah, I believe there are GOOD THINGS ahead for you, and 2019 is going to be a Shining Sparkling Year!
  10. Peekaboo! Popping in for a year-end update.

I've lost juuuuuust over 100 pounds in 2018 (including pre-op), but I've been stalled in about a 10-pound range for almost three months now. I'm the first to admit I've slacked in sticking to my program's rules; I really need to get back on track with my eating and actually start exercising (the gym membership was short-lived because the expense wasn't worth it on my budget).

Hoping to jump-start the downward trend again now that the holidays are over. I see my PCP in 2.5 weeks and my surgeon a month after that (at which time I will be a year out, holy crap) so I'd really like to be out of the stall by then.

I Was Amazed When I Heard This

I never had a liquid phase in my diet, only preop for 10 days. Post op after the three days I was at the hospital I started with soft food directly as these was my instructions. When I joined this page I though something was wrong with me but a couple of people replied that they too did not have a liquid phase post op. On my first day back home I had boiled chicken and potato something that I guess some people don’t eat until good 3-4 week after or maybe even later but there I was on day four eating normal soft food as per the program and the diet I was given! Long story short happy new year guys ! (It is 02:53 here local time !)

    Can see my

    Belief

You can also think about how their situations teach you that you can't take this success for granted. Once the honeymoon is over (and for some unlucky folks, that's pretty darned quick), the rest is hard work. We need to remain vigilant or the pounds will sneak back in with our old bad habits. Keep in mind, a 10-20% "bounce back" is considered perfectly normal and isn't considered a failure since the people are still so much smaller than they were.

    Frustrated

This is nothing specific to our society. All societies revolve around food, and have since the beginning of time. Ever head the term "breaking bread" with someone. Showing some hospitality has always been to invite them into your home and share your food. Ever been to Vietnam? EVERYTHING revolves around food. You can't go 10 ft without running into a street vendor, or a restaurant. But no problem with obesity.
  15. i would reach out to the doctor to make sure nothing else is going on. i dont recall having pain while swallowing but i have been really lucky throughout the whole process. One note to make.. liquids is easy to get the 64 ounces in when just on liquids. the moment you add in food.. it becomes 10 times more difficult. You literally have to schedule every bite and swallow to get it all in.. There are days i miss it by a few and back to game plan next day and assessing where you got behind.. Once you are behind, it is very difficult to catch up.
  16. I am new to this forum, but am keeping my surgery a secret. I had my procedure done on 12/19. I made it through a Christmas Eve dinner without telling my in-laws (who I dislike), just attributing not eating to a stomach bug. It can be done! I think you will know if keeping it a secret is right for you!

    Cold food

I'm entering into soft foods (hallelujah! Never thought scrambled egg could taste so good!). Anyway, I'm trying to follow doctor's orders and take 20-30 minutes to eat, but by the time the tiny portion has been sitting there for 10 minutes, it is cold. Anyone have suggestions other than cottage cheese or egg salad for soft foods that are already cold? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app

    December 2018 Sleevers!

I am in the pureed stage, but I am still eating to fast and taking to much in at once. I know I am supposed to take 20-30 minutes to eat my 2-3oz, but I take about 10 to 15 minutes. I think it's because I hate cold food. Anyone have any hacks or tips to help me figure out a way to slow down? I tried the baby spoon method, it kind of worked but not really.

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Happy New Years everyone, been having a tough 2 week period have been stuck in my first stall for the last while. But today finally scales started to move again. Dropped two pants sizes though now i'm a 38" waist. Reaching my goal ever so slowly. As many of you have also said I wish this would go faster. Had a tough time with Christmas at home and all the food around have been keeping this private so pretty much everyone thought I was being a weirdo and not eating my food. I guess this is the hard aspect when you can't eat the same as you did before but its my journey and I will achieve my goal that I set out to reach just like everyone else on this forum. Heres to 2019 and a year of reaching our goals. Happy New Years to us all

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

As of December 18th I am 7 months out. My HW 246, GW 160, CW 152!! The things I need to work on now is snacking (I try to do healthy snacking, but it don’t always happen that way)! I haven’t gotten to crazy with it but, my thoughts are I don’t want to go back to the way I used to be! I go to the gym straight after work at least 3 days a week, but during long breaks I don’t go because my job and gym are an hour away (which sucks) but living out in the country I have no other choice! So my next step is to find some exercise, weight training and yoga I can and will do at home!! This is extremely important to me!! The next thing is to continue looking and finding healthy recipes that I love and to learn to meal prep!! The only thing is I don’t like many kinds of left over meat!! Like they said the hard work really begins when you begin trying to maintain and knowing you can’t go back to the way things were and expect different results!! Hair loss is a big thing for me, which most people say they can’t tell it but they just don’t know what I have to do to my scalp (in the front and a little on the sides) to cover up these thin spots!! That spray on cover color is my best friend at the moment!! Happy New Year to all of you and I hope 2019 will be an even better year for you!!!

    December 2018 Sleevers!

Starting soft foods tomorrow. Down about 21 pounds in 3.5 weeks. Been kinda stuck since starting purees hopefully it lifts soon. Doctor said average is 4-6 pounds a week still hitting that average so I'm okay. See him again in 2 weeks so here's hoping go down another 10 or so before then.

Sophomoreville - A Home For The the Tweeners

I agree with all this. I almost always order what I want, irregardless of waste. The only exceptions is at fine dining (i.e. expensive) restaurants, I won't order the $60 steak, or the $45 halibut because that just seems over the top wasteful. So I'll have an app or a less expensive main. And near home I'll often choose food that makes better leftovers than something I want more but will reheat poorly. I think the real key to this is the cash strapped friend picking up the bill. Those few bites were totally worth $10 to you, but were an expensive few bites from your friend's viewpoint. To me it feels more like guilt over economic disparity, and the food waste is just a proxy. Yes, the waiter questions about "did you like the food" kill me more than anything. I'm over it with people I'm close to, including customers or collegues. But on early dates, or work meals where I don't know them well, ugh, it makes it awkward for everyone. Why don't the waiters recognize that?
  23. And Happy New 2019 to everyone! What plans do you have for New Years Eve?

    Hair loss

I purchased a topper around 5 months and wear it every day. My hair has started to regrow now (almost 10 months post op), and I anticipate it being back within 6 months. I’m wearing it in my profile photo.

    50 and Up Sleevers

I had my surgery 5 days before turning 50. I’m almost 10 months post op and down 104 pounds. I am 7 pounds away from goal. I am healthier than I’ve ever been in my life, work out with a personal trainer one day a week, eat a high protein diet, and get to buy really cute clothes now. 🙂
