I had the sleeve back in 2012. I could eat whatever I wanted and never dumped. That may be why I gained all my weight back. So I just had it revised to the bypass and I was curious about the dumping. I've heard its pretty bad. Hopefully I'm one of the ones that never dumps. Thanks for sharing!

JUNE SURGERY BUDDIES
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to Mira88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there!!! I just got my revision surgery date today. It's June 28th. My hospital pre-op appt is June 12th and my pre-op appt with my surgeon is the 13th. Super excited to finally get back to my life!!! I actually loved my sleeve, but the horrible GERD, esophagitis, and gastritis it caused pretty much brought my health, weight loss, working out, and overall happiness to a screeching halt. BUT....now that I have my surgery date, I'm super excited to get my life back and finish my weight loss journey!!! Happy June surgeries everyone!!!! -
ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....
birdie1 replied to mmlucas77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
April 18 for me. Leaving for San Diego in a few hours for revision from lap band to sleeve. In mexico with Dr. ortiz...Soooooo nervous -
I didn't have any gas pain. He also fixed my hernia when he was in there. I had revision band to sleeve at the new CER surgery facility. It is super clean and state of the art. Dr Garcia is very caring so don't be afraid. He and his staff do this all the time so everything moves along like a well tuned machine. Just trust in the process and things will go as planned. Honestly the hardest part was doing the barium swallow. They make you down 3oz at once NO SIPPING and after sip, sip, sipping water in the hospital it is super scary downing 3oz and the taste almost made me gag. So if that is the hardest part YOU GOT THIS VERONIKA

I am looking forward to a revision too from band to sleeve or bypass...I am leaning towards sleeve, but just want to be successful. The band was not my friend and even though I lost 20lbs and kept it off, I need to lose about 100 more pounds. I was anxious about going to Mexico, but reading these forums has helped me a lot. My insurance won't cover, so I'm paying for his on my own.

Csmart1212 replied to sld21's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Starting this process now with my surgeon after 8 years with my band over 100lb loss and now esophageal dilitation caused me to have to unfill band and have had an o going weight gain. He recommended bypass and we are checking with insurance now. Anyone have issue with insurance not covering a revision due to complications of the band? -
Any band to sleeve conversions here?
JessaK replied to Jendkopp's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
🙋🏼♀️ I had the band in 2008 but didn’t loose significant weight until 2013. I stopped thinking of it as a solution and started using it as a tool as intended. It was hard but I lost 100+ pounds, kept it off for 3 years and had my tummy tuck. Late 2017 I had a full slip and it had to be removed. I chose not to revise at that time because I thought I could maintain on my own. I couldn’t and I gained most of my weight back. 10/22 I had the sleeve done. I am down 36.6 lbs so far (20.22% of my excess weight) -
He just did my revision 1/22/15

I was at NWWLS for my band but I'm not impressed with their doctors. Srikanth will do the whole thing in one day ( I'm having band to sleeve revision). I wish my band surgeon was still doing bariatric surgery....he was the best.

HEALTHY Vegan/Vegetarian Recipe Swap and Pics!
OmaJ replied to Newme17's topic in Vegetarian or Vegan Eating
Looks delicioso! Can I ask, did you ever have difficulty digesting Kale? Also, how far out from surgery did you wait to try it, or do you recommend? I had issues with it when I had the Lapband (prior to my recent Lapband revision with Gastric bypass). -
Anyone have their sleeve done by Dr. Ganta -Austin?
WingRider replied to austinglobe's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello, Fellow Austinite here, I have had a consult with Dr. Ganta. I really liked him, he was to do my lap band through True Results. It was during his consult that I decided the sleeve was better for me. Insurance was going to cover the band. I am self-pay for the sleeve, that is why I am going to Mexico. He seemed really informed about the sleeve and I think he preferred it over the band, as long as you were willing accept the increased risks in the first 30 days due to leaks. He told me he had done about 80 sleeves as of August 09. Good luck with your revision. -
Low BMI to Start - Anyone Else?
weho replied to ATeam's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A BMI of 20 or 30? Really? A BMI of 20 puts you at a completely normal weight. 30 is obese. So there is quite a gap between the two. My surgeon won't even consider performing vsg surgery unless you are at least 35 bmi, or lower in the case of revision from lapband to sleeve. I know all surgeons are different. I understand your frustration with gaining and losing the same weight over and over again. Keep doing your research regarding BMI, and maybe try a consultation with a bariatric surgeon. I think that will give you a little more insight. Good luck in your journey. -

Nerves Before Surgery
shall0207 commented on incontrol(almost)'s blog entry in incontrol(almost)'s Blog
If you weren't nervous, you wouldn't be normal. Just focus on the fact that this time next year you will be THIN!!! Think about how life changing that is going to be and how exciting!! I haven't had my sleeve surgery yet. I have the gastric band and it slipped so I am now waiting for the insurance company's decision on whether or not they will revise me to the sleeve. I am nervous about it too but I have been researching and looking at YouTube videos and there is so much positive feedback on the sleeve that I have decided to go for it. You are going to be just fine and so happy you did it! I wish you all the best and I will be looking out for your future posts on you success! Wishing you the best, Sue -
Elizabeth - I am so sorry to hear your slip is a bigger deal than you initially thought. Is it beyond possibility that it would repair itself with your unfill? I know some can correct themselves that way. If not, you want to be especially mindful of how you are feeling - a slippage that doesn't fix itself can quickly turn into obstruction, particularly if you have a vomiting episode, or an irritation that results in swelling. Please go carefully. As far as possibly having the band removed, I don't think your re-slippage chances increase if you just have it fixed - and knowing what you do now, you can probably avoid the behaviours that helped it slip the first time. However, I do think that repair of slippage falls into Inamed's "revision" category, so your chance of erosion may be increased. If it were me, I probably would just have the slip repaired and keep my band, since it's in there already. If for whatever reason they are not able to repair it right then, but have to remove it to let the stomach recover before they reband you I'd have to think harder about that. If I could afford it, I probably would get rebanded, even with the possible increased risk of erosion. But these are all things you have to think about, and I wish you the best of luck in your decision.

Where are you From ?
disappearingdebbie replied to jemma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ladybugg73.... I am having a bypass revision next week. I had my original surgery in 1983. I am going to Mexico to have it done by Dr. Rodriguez, who has done this particular laparoscopic revision surgery many times and is a leader in revisions. My insurance would not cover it, so I have to pay out of pocket. The total cost for the surgery, hospital stay (for 2) ,the transportation to and from the hospital and med's on check-out is $8950. I scheduled my surgery through Beliteweight.com with Sylvia. I'll be updating here next week after my procedure. -
November 2010 Bandsters - post op
♥LovetheNewMe♥ replied to DebWS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry for your troubles. I am 23 months out from my surgery, I personally have not had issues but I work with two who have and both have had there bands removed, both at about 3 years. One girl had struggles the entire time and never really lost weight and they considered her a band failure and removed the band and did the gastric sleeve on her. The other girl had very similar propblems to you, she did lose all her weight but had multiple issues along the way with reflux, GERDs, stuck episodes episodes, etc. They let out her band and left it alone for a while, than she gained 20 lbs so they put fluid back in and she did well for a while but 2 months ago she started having pain all the time and was not able to eat anything. Xray showed the band had slipped, and had the pouch had developed a pocket. She decided to have the band removed but insurance will not pay for any other surgery becasue her BMI is in normal range. The only way she can have another band or procedure is if she gains her weight back. I know this must be very frustrating for you and it scares to read about this and know people it has happened to. If my doc told me he could possibly fix my band I think I would let him try, if your insurance will pay for the revision or you can afford it. I like you have had good weight loss success. My friends doctor also told her (he is my doc too) that he would never put a band back in her becasue once this starts to happen generally it continues to happen again and again. I wish you luck and success with your choice. -
Started my pre-op diet today. My surgery is July 30 and I am a bit (well a lot) nervous. After 2 failed lap band attempts I am concerned about the scar tissue and whether or not the doc will be able to complete the revision to bypass. I am also questioning whether or not I am doing the right thing. I already failed twice, I just don't want to fail again.

I had my revision done on June 24th and I am feeling great for the most part.I also had to get my gallbladder out so that was alittle more pain but not too bad.My question is-I also had to have a drainage tube put in,has anyone else had to do this an if so how long.Mine is in for a week getting it out on Wednesday, but I waswoindering if I am still draining what happens then? Has this happened to anyone in there procedure,Please share! Thank you

I had the RNY done. I stopped loosing and regained 20lbs, my blood pressure went up. I'm sure this you understand. They scoped me and found that for what ever reason my new pouch opened and reattached to my main stomach. They say that I'm one in thousands that this happens to. I will be going in August 2 for revision surgery, same thing, RNY. I am sure with the right doctor you will find out what is wrong. I have new doctor and hospital. I am here if you need support. Sent from my LGLS770 using the BariatricPal App

I had a sleeve to MGB revision a few years ago and have had nothing but problems with severe reflux ever since. Does anyone else experience this? It started about 3 or 4 months after with just general reflux in my gut that was remedied with over the counter medicine. It's now so bad that Im seeing a specialist and have to have a series of tests to figure out if they want to perform a new surgery. I basically have reflux so bad that I vomit bile on an almost daily basis and if Im not eating constantly, it just gets worse and worse. I knew reflux was a potential side effect, but had I known it would get so bad that I need another surgery, I don't think I would have ever done this. A couple years later and Im just as overweight as I was and in severe pain on a daily basis. Please understand Im not trying to discourage anyone from surgery, just trying to see if Im the only one. I know these surgeries have great success for so many people
