Extreme conspitation during LRD
magicinitiate posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A content warning first... this post is about poop. I have been on the protein shake version of the LRD for 9 days, and while my... bowel had already slowed down today I suffered extremely painful constipation to a point I have never experienced before. I'm actually historically very regular, if anything I tend to have the opposite problem, so maybe I am more surprised by this than I should be. I was trying to... pass the really hard, dry, dark stool for hours, and there was bleeing involved at some point. I am wondering if anybody else has experienced this, and if they changed their LRD strategy because of it. I can't imagine this continuing for three weeks. I wanted to add that I am taking Rybelsus but I had tolerated it very well until now - however constipation is a known side effect so I thought it was worth adding. I have been on it since November, but my doctor increased my dose about the same time I started the LRD. I have contacted the coordinator for my surgery, but other than making sure I wasn't dehydrated I didn't really get much useful advice. Anybody had a similar experience? -
A huge fan of Zepbound!
Crisscat replied to xoxoMeli's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I have been on Zepbound since Feb 2024, I have lost an additional 72 lbs while on this drug. More weight loss than my gastric sleeve. I lost about 52 lbs from that. I am on a higher dose now but have been steadily on it for the past 3 months without upping the dosage. It is not a dramatic loss but steady and Im good with that since I was at a complete stall of weight loss after the sleeve -
Not losing weight as fast as I thought
Arabesque replied to Just a phase 98's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@FifiLux is right. Never compare yourself with others. It will only mess with your head. I can guarantee the one thing you can depend upon is that you will do this in your way & is best for you & your body. Whether it be how much you lose, the rate at which you lose, how long it takes, when you experience stalls & how long they last, when you can tolerate certain foods and what foods you can’t tolerate, etc. and there’s nothing wrong with any of that. There’ll be similarities with other & differences & averages which give you an idea of what you might experience that’s all. You’ve lost 13lbs. That’s amazing, Stick to your plan & remember to celebrate every pound you lose. -
21 years out of surgery and having issues
Dsmart replied to Dsmart's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you 🙏🏻 my gastroenterology appointment is in three weeks so I am going to start there and I look forward to figuring it out because it’s not fun I have talked to a few doctors on the scope of my PCP…. One has seen complications/odd symptoms in long term gastric bypass patients. When I say complications, I mean digestive complications because there are plenty of people who don’t have enough nutrient, etc., and have issues that are beyond that. I pretty much covered all of those in my first 10 years when I really didn’t know how to take care of myself from a nutrient standpoint and vitamins. I do think it could be a parasite, or potentially a combo of diverticulitis and acid reflux. Most of the potential diagnoses have weight loss associated with them, and that is definitely not the case unfortunately lol. Yes, I would love to press the fix me button, but I know I have to do the work on this -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Lilia_90 replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don’t know about weird, but definitely a win for me. I grew a little a booty!! My booty was such a signature one back in the day LMAO, it went completely flat after VSG. I have been hitting legs HEAVY twice to three times a week and man do I feel the difference. My weight is pretty much the same (although my running average has gone down a bit to the lower end of my stabilized weight). But I am 100% sure my body fat has significantly dropped and muscle mass has gone up (wishful thinking, indulge me). -
Pain after drinking, normal?
NeonRaven8919 replied to Katie Sims's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are three days post op. Most things will hurt. I could only have 30mls of water by syringe for the first two days and only once every 15 minutes. Then the swelling stopped and I have about double that and start drinking broth. As everyone else says, take little walks and try to move as much as comfortable to get the gas out. -
FINALLLYY PLASTICSS, Advice? Stories? Successes?
fourmonthspreop replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welll.... got my brachio. On post op day 4. Feeling pretty good. It's still very swollen. Here's post op day 3 photo. I can't wait to be healed and wearing t shirt. I have to wear this compression top for 2 weeks straight then for 12 hours a day for 4 more weeks or so. -
Not sure why that posted three times but it won’t let me delete it. Gotta love technology.

January 2025 Surgery Buddies!
Melissa💖💜💙 replied to Melissa💖💜💙's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Two months?! No, my diet changes week to week. Second week after surgery, I started full liquids. Third week, pureed foods and things like soup, yogurt, pudding, applesauce. Later this week I can start with soft foods: eggs, white fish, mashed beans. The week after, I can try tuna, salmon, chicken, cooked veggies. The week after that, I can try beef and pork. Every doctor has different post-op directions. -
It’s that time of the month and bloating
Mspretty86 replied to Elizabeth Miller's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
During my bariatric journey and I'm only one year postop I have learned that I do not force food in if I'm not hungry. I just don't eat. hunger fluctuates during the month one week I'm ravenous, one week I can eat OK, one week I cannot eat it's just I don't force it, but I think it's different strokes for different folks. I have heard people go back to some Hardy bone broths which are always yummy during those times. -
No more saggy arms for Sophie!
Sophie7713 replied to Sophie7713's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Three weeks out from brachioplasty and reverse tummy tuck. Some swelling and bruising down. Not cleared to drive or be out and about quite yet. Remain on Tramadol 50mg and Arnica 30X to manage the burning, deep tissue and nerve pain in arms. Tylenol remains ineffective, but will keep trying to wean off narcotics. Doing some light cooking and housekeeping. No heavy lifting, but practice reaching to second kitchen shelving. Utilizing silicon cream, paper tape and wraps on sutures + arms daily. I suspect another two weeks for initial recovery. Personally, unless your arms were as heavy and problematic as mine, I would not recommend this surgery. The recovery and downtime has been arduous. -
Hey so I’m three months post op and I haven’t been feeling well… I know I’m dehydrated and I know my bs are low from not eating on a consistent basis… it’s due to my job I work in an OR so there are times where I can go long periods of not eating or drinking but the last few weeks I haven’t been myself.. headaches so bad I’m nauseous then I don’t want to eat or drink bc my head hurts so bad then I get dizzy and lightheaded.. like I don’t know if I should follow up with my surgeon so he’s aware of my challenges during my work but today I didn’t eat hardly anything at all what should I do?

I sing in a yacht rock band called Three Hour Tour. I started out in the back (and was very happy there thankyouverymuch) but someone decided I needed to be up front. So here we are. LOL These are all images from 2024...obviously pre-surgery. I am infinitely grateful to be part of a group who celebrates me at ANY size...but I'm also looking forward to wearing clothes that I can go to the bathroom in and also not worry about my ankles swelling up to the size of elephant trunks!! -
It's so annoying! I am definitely still losing (I hope) I'm about 7 months post bypass so I hopefully should keep losing slowly now. Im still not at my goal and I think I'm in a small stall! 😤 I think I'll probably sell it on vinted eventually and then get a smaller size! Thank you!

Food Before and After Photos

Being in the midst of summer have started making salads again for dinner. Basically coleslaw and chicken though chicken schnitzel from butcher (so real chicken breast not processed, mass produced). Coleslaw was 2 different types of cabbage, carrot, celery, capsicum, small tin of corn, small tin of 4 bean mix, 2 tablespoons Italian dressing & 2 teaspoons low fat mayo. Made enough salad for three nights. -
What can I expect to feel like the first week post op?
AndreaJD posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for gastric bypass on August 12th and I'm hoping some of you will tell me what your first week post-op was like? I'd like to know what to expect. I know the first few months will be ROUGH, but I would like more specifics. -
I just want to share my excitement, I got my reminder text for my breast augmentation and lift appointment next week! In 3 short weeks I will have new bewbs. Mostly I am excited about having more confidence in myself and my shirts looking like they fit and not baggy off my chest.

A Change is Coming...
KimBaxleyWilson replied to KimBaxleyWilson's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Today we meet with the Nutritionist (super cool and I think my husband wants to being her home) and the surgeon. I can't say enough good things about him. He is so friendly and knowledgeable. Plus he had the surgery 15 years ago himself so he definitely understands. All is good to go for in the morning. I have three drinks to drink tonight and in the morning to get ready. 10AM is go time!! We had our last meal (my husband is having an inguinal hernia repair) and it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon! Pics attached! -
Did you have a gastric sleeve leak and if so what caused it ???
FarrahS replied to KII's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had a leak at 3 weeks post op and spent 2 weeks in the hospital with a drain and feeding tube. I am 7 months post op now and doing better but my stomach still doesn’t like hardly anything. -

I gained and lost the same 2-3 pounds over a three month stall. 😡 So, yeah it happens. -
Hi everyone! Is anyone still around in this group? Its been 4 years since my surgery, and what a ride it has been. I have had ups and downs, and now I am trying to work on myself a little mor and loose some more. I had my tummytuck done in April and in three weeks I will have my inner tight surgery. To keep the weight down I have used Ozempic and Wegovy. Would be fun to hear if anyone is still around and how have your been since surgery!

My surgery is April 8 as well. One more week.

What is even happening right now??!?!
eJean replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’ve been having the same problem. I started putting 1 tsp of psyllium husk in my protein shake. It thickens it up a bit but after about three days I had relief. I stopped for a couple days and got plugged up again. Just a thought😊 -

Greekmom4 replied to Averdra's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@Chatterboxdea I have had a similar problem. I have only lost 3.4 pounds in the last 19 days. I was stalled with a pound or so for two weeks. My foods are where they should. I’m going to the gym 3-4 days a week as told. My water is a little iffy by not too bad. we just have to remember that we did not gain the weight overnight and we won’t lose it that way either. Some of us lose slower than others. It obviously doesn’t hurt to talk to your dietician and get suggestions. But you are not alone. -
Arm lift recovery time
kristieshannon replied to FifiLux's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I took 3 weeks off work after my arm lift/mommy makeover surgery. I felt like I would have good to go back after 2. Barring any complications, you should be totally fine at 8 weeks. Your scars will still be prominent, but easily covered by clothes.
