Swimming Post-Op
Fallenangel2904 replied to Lessofme529's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They told me 6 weeks but I admit I went swimming at 2 weeks. I was out of town visiting a friend and I don't get to swim in a pool very often (it was winter and they had an in door pool in their building) so I did it and I was fine. I think as long as your incisions are not open you'll be okay. -

Mood Bleepin Swings!!!

I think it's hormonal because let me tell you that I'm in the same boat! It's awful. It's gotten better the last couple of days, but last week, oh my lord, I was a heinous bitch, lol. But then I would get sad and cry. I definitely think it's hormones. Just try to remember that it'll go away soon. You're doing the right thing by avoiding people though when you feel it coming on. Keep up the good work!!!! -
Hi, I started my liquid diet last week and needed a good place to keep track of what I was eating. I found Sparkpeople.com and was impressed with everything that was on the site--especially the fact that it is FREE. I like it better than Fitday.com and the Weight Watchers Online site. Anybody else like this site?

Oh HAPPY DAY!!! I got my approval today on the phone. I have been approved through UHC. Surgery is scheduled for the 26th of August. I hope the worst is over I waited 2 weeks to hear those magical words. Wish me luck!!! If you have any advice let me know. Thanks

I'm hoping the chili and soups do it for me. I'm a bit worried about it. Right now, it's a consistency thing. A full bodied soup full of veggies and meat, I love, but something like cream of broccoli, or broth, I have a hard to stomaching. I'm hoping things like chicken salad in a food processor work for me, but I'm not too excited about going through these two weeks before I get to soft foods.

Fill today.....and a slight gain
reverie replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I somehow gained 2lbs this last week as well, though I don't think it's a true gain as the scale dropped a pound this morning and last week I upped my calories and my exercise. Keep on pushing! 7lbs is definitely a great loss in a month. -
I am now really wanting to eat some meat but dr. Says no until I'm 4 weeks out. I am on shakes 3 times a day. I fill full but my mind wants food. This is a marathon for all on us

Tax Day Banded and feeling weird...
TRANAM1955 replied to Halbert's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was on strictly clear liquids the first week after surgery. I also developed a cold and coughed a lot and just knew I had ruined my port and band. ( self pay here ) But, my surgeon did a great job and it has been my best friend for the past 13 months. KEEP THE FAITH!!!!! AND GOOD LUCK!!!! -
I will be 4 weeks post op as of tomorrow and I'm feeling awfully sick. I feel nausea, dizzy, and hot along with either feeling constipated or having "the trots" lol I'm at least trying to drink water to stay hydrated but the thought of food and eating makes me want to vomitt. This has been going on since this past Saturday. This is the second time in the 4 weeks that this has happened to me. Should I be worried or is this sort of normal? Thanks!

The first 4-6 weeks were tough, was thinking I was going to melt overnight and when it wasn't happening it was depressing. Three months out now and doing and feeling great. It will pass.

To the right is mine, they're chewy delicious gummies that I picked up at the drug store, I take 2 in the morning. All my blood work came back great at 6 weeks so they've been working fabulously for me - Kaylee Ann ~ Surgiversary: 6/11/12

Are there any folks in the 55-60 age group out there that can answer my question?
Crosby replied to Marycm125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Remember it varies significantly and those that are heavier will lose more initially. I am 4 months out and will be 55 in a few days. I was 269 on surgery day and now weigh 205. ( height 5' 5") After the first month I am averaging 12 pounds loss a month. I tend to have one slow week and then one where I lose 5 pounds. I had one gain that was followed by a bigger loss. -
I just found this: Bariatric Surgeon Profile - Horacio Guajardo, M.D. He's only done 85 sleeves. That's not very much sleeve experience. There is a surgeon in TJ and she isn't very experienced either and her patients can eat an entire chicken breast 3 weeks after surgery, I'm 10 months out and I can't eat that much and my stomach has already stretched out. Can you imagine how much she'll be able to eat when hers has stretched? Experience means everything in the world with this procedure. I have NO clue if this surgeon is great or horrible. I've never heard of him before I read you post. He's in a safe location, that part is good. He states on his OH profile that he trained Dr. Rumbaut. I'd call Rumbaut's office and verify that. Rumbaut has farrrr more experience than this guy... it kinda doesn't add up. Just research and verify everything.

You can try the Couch to 5k. It is also available as a mobile app. Many people here have used it with success. I have used myself in the past and liked the program. You can repeat weeks if you find it too difficult.

I have had 5 fills, 4cc-2cc-2cc-.5cc-and on Fri the 17th 1cc more, in my 15cc band. It is HERE! The sweet spot, that is! I did liquids for 1 day, mushies for 1, and today back to food. I am a lil nervouse if im too tight. NNothing hurts, but I can even feel the water taking its time thru the band! I have been losing atleast a lb per week, but I think that will turn to closer to 2 lbs a week now. A half a grilled chicken breast fills me up now, and it wasnt even that big to begin with. I am so excited. In 12 lbs I will be less than 250!:wub::smile:

I've been doing weights since the day I came home from the hospital. I got permission for 10 pounds or less. I walked for the first two weeks then went back to the gym but was told no twisty moves (like elliptical or dance classes). So it's been walking or treadmill mixed with light weights until I got clearance for full workouts (4 weeks? 6 weeks? I can't quite remember).

 I just got the call from my drs office after two denials. We resubmitted a new claim due to an increase in BMI, and I was approved!!!!!!!!! The insurance submittals have been going on since March and I thought it would never happen. I feel so BLESSED!!!!!!! My only question is I am a nurse and will only be able to take a week off from work, will that be sufficient. I mean it has to be sufficient. I had planned to have this done over the summer as I was off, but I guess it was not supposed to happen that way. Any advice would be great. thank you.

I was banded on June 1st, have lost 30 lbs since the process began. On average, I walk about 10 -15 miles a week. I've become obsessed with walking. But I feel like a serious failure because I'll get down in the dumps (aka something goes "disastrously" wrong) and eat EVERYTHING in sight, I do it consciously too - which is probably the worst parts of it. It's just like the "old times". :- Any suggestions on how I can avoid this?? Tips, tricks, ANYTHING? Thanks for any advice!

Hang in there!! The exact same thing happened to me. Stay off the scale, get your protein in first and you will see a difference. I am 4 weeks out and just saw a 6 pound drop in one week so it will work. Good luck -

please help me
missboo333 replied to finaldstination's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought the same thing when I first got my band. At my two week post-op appointment, my surgeon made it a point to tell me that as the swelling goes down, I will feel as if I don't have a band at all! He said to stay on the diet anyway and really drink more Water to help combat the hunger. It helped some, but once I started getting fills, that helped even more! I would say, don't worry, but follow your gut and if you are still worried, call your doctor's office. That's what they are there for!! Hope this helps! -
I started cardio at te two week mark.

Congrats! That is such a great feeling. I had ordered some cute tanks a couple of weeks back, one in the size I was moving into and two in the next size down. Got them yeaterday and the smaller size fits perfectly. Man I love this sleeve.

Sleeve 9 years after tummy tuck
ayscott74 replied to tleg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had tummy tuck before being sleeved well I don't think mine was worse it depends on your pain level. I was in pain afterwards but walking help a lot. Sleeve on a Monday and I was back at work on Friday. The same week. Congrats on your new journey.
