NEED REVISION FROM GASTRIC BYPASS...
patticake1448 replied to heavencynt72's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
What exactly is a gastric bypass revision, and how did u get ur surgeon to do it? I feel like the rny didnt work for me at all and would like to have it redone. -
My surgeon advised that the best option was RNY. Less risk of reflux. Less risk of more damage/ issues to the oesophagus. I also know a lot of people that have revised to a sleeve or had a sleeve as an initial surgery who have not lost or have had massive regains. I decided to go with my surgeons recommendation and had my revision in Jan. I am very happy. My diet is much healthier than with the band, I don’t spend hours in restaurant toilets throwing up and I have reload the weight I gained and am sitting at goal.

Is An 8 A Romotely Possible Size After Sugery?
rosewood replied to audreycat123's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes, it is... and it was a surprise to me too! My goal was to get to size 10, but somehow I skipped the tens and went right to an 8 from 12 (mostly because I am always a little chicken to try on a new size until the old size gets baggy!) I started at size 20 and today reached my original goal weight of 155. For me at 5'8", that is a size 8 My revised goal weight is 145 and I am now also working on toning things up with yoga and walking! Good luck! You can do it! RoseAnne -
Sleeve to Bypass, NO NO NO?
Phillip S replied to goldygirl1383840071's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved last Oct 25th I can relate to your issues, I have terrible heartburn, reflux, and nausea. I originally though that it would go away but has only stayed the same and is worse at times. I have been following up with my doctor and it was determined after an endoscopy that I have Bile Reflux. The only believed to correct it is to have RNY. RNY will cause the bile to not be so close to the stomach and having RNY relieves the pressure that is in your stomach that can contribute to GERD or reflux. I am schedule for surgery Oct 31 to have a revision to RNY. I hope that this will be it for surgeries. I like the sleeve and it has done well with a total loss of 106lbs. I hate to get rid of it but need to have RNY done to prevent further issues. -
2 Months post op Huge stall! Am I doing something wrong?
Domika03 replied to sleevinIT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Abigail! I know you don't want to hear this, but you have to make an apt to see your Dr., or in the very least, talk to your NUT. This person will have the knowledge to help you & suggest what you can do to get back on track. More importantly, do NOT be ashamed of yourself. This is a tough journey & we really need to work hard to make it work BUT IT DOES WORK!!! You didn't mention what you're eating or how much. That's the first thing I'd look at. I had my surgery done on Jan 16th, so I'm about 5 1/2 weeks out. I had my band removed & revised to the sleeve. Here's an example of what I eat at this point. Keep in mind, everyone's food menu is slightly different the first 6 - 8 weeks. It all depends on the Dr's office: Breakfast: 1/2 - 3/4 cup of egg whites mixed with feta cheese, turkey crumbles and spinach or 1 egg feta cheese, turkey crumbles and spinach or Protein drink (Greek yogurt, Pure Protein vanilla creme shake w/ 1 scoop of Pure Protein vanilla powder). I actually don't like chocolate that much lunch 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup of tuna fish blended with low-fat mayo 1/2 cup - 3/4 cup of leftover dinner from night before Dinner 1/2 - 3/4 cup of any lean protein (like homemade ham & navy bean Soup in the crock pot) 1/2 -3/4 cup of turkey chili (in the crock pot) tonight I'm making Lemony Lentil & Spinach Soup (yup, in the crock pot again, LOL) *No, I don't use the crock pot all the time, but it does help) I hope this might help you. But, I really think you should call your NUT. They're job is to help you. Do NOT be ashamed. Nothing to be ashamed of. You are NOT alone my dear. Most of us enjoy helping & encouraging others. You CAN do this & you WILL be successful. Best of luck & hang in there! -
Also, I'm on a 3 day liquid diet...my surgeon tailors the length to your BMI. As long as you find protein you can tolerate it isn't too bad..I'm a revision from a sleeve so have been there done that (I had major complications and have been on liquids since 2012 so it's my normal) and if you guys need any suggestions or ideas on making it taste better let me know oh and I'm on August 1st so I'm right behind you!!

Eating with bypass vs lapband
Juniper123 posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I’m trying to wrap my head around eating with a bypass versus a lapband. (I currently have a deflated lapband, I’m hoping for revision to a bypass when the lapband comes out.) After eating a small amount with the lapband, I felt literal restriction. And if I overate, I vomited, almost immediately. I understand that with a bypass, since your stomach pouch is so small, you feel full quickly. But from what I’m reading, you don’t usually vomit if you eat too much. Rather some people “dump,” which from what I’m reading happens internally and out the other end. What I’m having a hard time understanding is how you feel full and are forced to stop eating if there is no restriction and you can get down whatever you want, with the consequences only coming later, no vomiting. Do you feel so full from the smaller stomach area that you just can’t fathom eating more than you should? Is the dumping consequence so severe and regular that you instinctively don’t eat enough to cause it ever again once you experience it once? I was successful losing and keeping off 60 lbs with the band. Mostly because I either ate small enough portions to avoid vomiting or because I vomited if I ate too much. I’m trying to wrap my head around what eating (and overeating) will feel like with the bypass and without the restriction of the band. Any experiences you are willing to share? -
The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve!
MyMeshelle replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ouch! I'm not sure what I'd do if I were I were in your shoes. I have thought about it quite a bit. Not sure if I'd get another Lap-Band if I had issues with it or revise to another procedure. What is your surgeon suggesting?I meet with him Wednesday... We will see... If he does not agree with revision I will find someone who will... Glad your doing so well.. I was told "you have a failed surgery in you" by my thyroid Dr... -
The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve!
gsusser replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, It's nice to find a place to get info and hear from others. I'm just about through the qualifying process for insurance and will schedule sleeve surgery in a couple of weeks. A couple of quick questions. Is "The Big Book..." still relevant and up to date? Have there been many changes since the book came out a few years ago? Has it been revised since the first edition? I know it's not that old but things often change quickly in medicine. I'm an avid reader. Is there any other recommended reading material? Thanks. glenn -
We're surgery buddies. I check-in tomorrow morning at 7am PST. I'm surprisingly nervous, considering this is a lapband revision. Good luck to you.

Super Excited I had my first "meal" this morning (small curd FF cottage cheese with SF strawberry preserve) I chewed and chewed, took 20 mins to eat it and it went down without a glitch. My Sleeve approves and so does my taste buds For tonight, having my yummy revised Eggface Ricotta Bake (with FF ricotta seasoned with oregano/salt/pepper/onion&garlic powder and cayenne pepper/parmesan cheese) topped with marinara & mozz... Loving my new way of eating !

ooooooohhhh. ok. lol.. yea.. So... is anyone having the issue of being torn between the band and the bypass??? Ive literally been obessing over it for the past 16 hrs.. Im scheduled for the band... but Im worried that its not going to be for me. . Ive looked up the pros and cons and i am seeing way too many people having to get it revised.. WOMEN in particular.. seems to be that the men do better with the band. Anyone have any input or advice?

It is very frustrating. The reason I chose the Lapband is because the doctor felt I was “not obese enough” to get a sleeve or the other surgeries and I truly felt that the Lapband would work. It has worked but I am slowly giving up. At this point, I’m still not a candidate for the sleeve and I would have to wait a little longer before I can even try to get a revision. What surgery did you have? That’s awesome that you’ve lost 100 pounds!! So happy for you! [emoji846]

My tips and why I Don't recommend Sleeve surgery for long term
strawberryga posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Iv'e had BOTh the ruen-y bypass surgery that was successful FOR over 10 years, after having a baby, gaining weight back and having vitamin deficiency issues I had a revision to a gastric sleeve. The sleeve has been a joke, there is no stopping me from over eating sweets or fried foods, I was sick when I ate those things with a ruen-y. I had an upper gi last week (I am 7 years post op of revision) Dr says my stomach looks like any other non surgery stomach he sees. So much for my surgery dr saying stomachs dont stretch. 1.Ruen-y is more evasive but it keeps you from eating sweets/fried foods without becoming so ill you have to lay down for 2 hours. (not dangerous, just very uncomfortable) 2.If you have weight loss surgery be SURE to have lipo suction after you've lost most of y our weight. Once you grow a fat cell you NEVER loose it unless you have it removed by having lipo suction or cool sculpting. A fat cell will lay flattened until you have extra calories that need stored then they pop right up. Get rid of them b&&*$ right away, you can still grow more cells if you over eat but it takes time to grow them new, old cells are like little saboteurs waiting to fill up again. 3. If you don't like aerobic activity try chill-aerobics. Sit somewhere cold.. shiver and ur body burns fat. 15 min. of shivering equals 30min,. of aerobic activity. Your body will burn fat to try and warm you up. (it's actually opposite in a polar bears body) -

Oh i forgot to add im having a revision surgery, Lapland to rny! Any others? -
@@betrthnever It looks like you are considering a revision from Lap-Band to RNY. Is that correct? If so, why? I ask because you say you are on the fence, and I am assuming you mean you are on the fence about getting the revision to RNY.

Lap band to gastric bypass
JRT Mom replied to angievasser42@gmail.com's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I was lucky that my surgeon will do the revision in one surgery. It was nice only having one hospitalization, recovery, etc. My lap band was over 10 years old so I'm not sure the age of the band is a factor as much as the scar tissue is and once it forms it might not get worse the longer it's there. Good luck, y'all! However you do it, it is TOTALLY worth getting that useless band and port out. I can lay on my stomach without the port sticking into me without pain now! -
Possible Revision

I was a grade C but yesterday it was a D !! They are calling me to schedule the revision tomorrow. Glad that you are doing well. Have you had an EGD done since revision to know if it is helping your esophagus. Do you still have reflux? -
Lap band to gastric bypass
JlDee replied to angievasser42@gmail.com's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had banding done in 2001 and revision done in October 2019. I have to say I feel very underinformed about the differences in the surgery. Eating has gone well and I no longer have the acid reflux or vomiting issues I did with the band. SO I consider the surgery a success. -
Possible Revision
Losingit2018 replied to kglowins's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I totally understand! That is exactly how I felt. I came very close to backing out of the revision and taking my chances with the ppis. plus at the time of my initial surgery I almost switched to rny right up until surgery. My thoughts were that I did not want to have the surgery twice. Don’t fear the bypass though. Just be sure to take vitamins every single day. Keep up with having your bloodwork done and you should do just fine. -
5 days later - Still sharp pain at port site
coolchick replied to Katiegrrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks so I will let you know for sure what happens. In the meantime I find that if I put a wrap tight around my stomach that seems to help a lot with the pinches and pain. Its almost as if I am keeping it in place. I just had revision surgery 1 month ago and 2 weeks after surgery is when I noticed this pain. Its been another 2 weeks since and still not much better. I am hoping in 2 weeks when I see my doctor that he will have some answers for me.
