Stalls are no fun, but with hitting the gym you are probably building muscle and your body stalls to adapt. I always noticed I lost inches, not pounds during a stall. Just stick with it and the stall will pass. Plus the week after a stall I would lose about double what my average was.

Hello I am so discouraged I’ve only lost about 50 pounds in 7.5 months. I have been stalled for 2 mos up 3lbs down 3 lbs. I really want to break this stall and continue to lose weight. I have about 60 more pounds to lose to goal. This sucks when you see stories of people at this point 60-70 pounds lighter. Please help with suggestions

I live in Texas and my surgery was done on 11/11/11 (easy day to remember, huh). That was 3 weeks ago today. I have lost only 7 pounds in those 3 weeks. This was disappointing to me but after reading everyone else's experience I guess that is normal. My first fill is scheduled for next Thursday, 12/9. I cant wait! I loved the way I was not hungry and did not even think about food right after the surgery. I want that feeling to come back. My surgeon was Dr John Marsden and I was so pleased. He is not only caring and concerned about my journey, he has a great sense of humor and you are instantly comfortable with him. I am a little different than a lot of his patients in that I am starting my journey weighing 200 pounds and my goal is 130. I have only 70 pounds to lose. Afraid of being criticized I have only told 2 people (outside my family) about the surgery. But I am only 5'2" tall and I have a small frame so Im not carrying the extra weight very well. When I got married 21 years ago I weighed 120 and my wedding dress was size 8P. My goal is to get back into that dress. Since I dont have a support group of friends Im excited about this online support group.

Hi- most new post ops start out with Syntax nectar, unjury or pure Protein Shakes (rtd). My WLS center highly recommends Nectar to every patient (they have done the research with regards to effectiveness, taste, etc). She does say that your tastes for protein shakes may change post op. In other words, find out *again* what type of shake you like as a post op and do not buy a lot as a pre op. Both Syntrax nectar and unjury have sample packs where you can determine what flavors you enjoy. For example, do you enjoy fruity flavors like strawberry or sweet flavors like Oreo. I am a *huge* fan of Oreo flavor both pre and post op. Regardless of the branding, try and pick a fast acting 100% whey protein as it will help you heal faster. That is key as you want to get in a lot of protein during that first few weeks from your shakes. It helps if you enjoy it!! You can also experiment. For example, mixing together chocolate truffle, PB2 and butter Scotch SF pudding makes for a tasty buffer finger shake. Awesome! Once you are further away from surgery day as a post op, you might look into some more specialized protein to help with exercise recovery (cardio and lifting). However, do not worry about that for a while. Good luck!

I've fallen off the wagon.

I did awesome on my 2 week pre op but then knowing it was my last full mean for a long long time I went out to Chilies and had way to much to eat. I then went to the Gym to make up for it so it was even. The point is its normal to have slips just fix it when you can and learn from the mistake. I still had my surgery and am doing awesome so far. -
What are you eating?
voiceomt2002 replied to mrsebg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1. meal replacement shakes 2. Scrambled eggs, omelets and fritattas 3. Baked fish, chicken or turkey. I did use a mini-food processor, but only to chop the meat into tiny chunks, not all the way to a puree. 4. Lean ground beef, finely crushed. (I didn't manage this until toward the end of my mushy phase. It wouldn't stay down.) 5. Dried beans, peas, and lentils -- well cooked to mush 6. Cottage cheese and ricotta cheese, mixed with Splenda and flavorings. (No fruit except well-processed berries) 7. Egg, chicken, tuna, or turkey salads. -

Hi... I had my surgery on May 5th 2015. And I've been home since the 7 th .I am doing well getting all my fluids in and some if it being protein. I have at small amounts of cottage cheese, soup, and cream of wheat. So statistically I am doing great. However I am so tired and weak that it's breaking my spirit . Everything exhausts me and it's something I am not use to. I am a busy body by nature so even only being a week out I feel like I'm going insane. I walk daily and have gotten out a few times but it takes everything out of me. I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel.... Any advice or words of encouragement? Thank you

I went to my second of two psychologist's visits. Yoohoo!! I got clearance from him!! And this time, he didn't bother asking me any crazy questions like "Have you ever been small?" I saw my coordinator at the grocery store....she had a bypass and lost over a hundred pounds a few years ago.... she reassured me that she feels 99.9999999% sure that I'll be approved. When she gets my "Letter of Medical Necessity" and psych clearance, as well as nutritionist's clearance - she'll send it on up to BC/BS. Another woman that I work with (same insurance) just got approved....and I believe my BMI, sadly enough, is much higher than hers. So, it's really going to happen..........I'm going to do this - despite the naysayers who are telling me I'm mutilating my body, I shouldn't mess with what God gave me, etc. How do you respond to these people? Anyways - until the next update.... So, here's the weekly progress: June 9, 2013 8 weeks post op - Highest weight: 320.2 Current weight: 315.2 Goal weight: 172 Height: 5'10" My weekly diet modifications: Go entirely to decaf coffee. My weekly behavioral modifications: One night this week - no snacking or grazing after dinner.

I have an IUD, and it's a love/hate relationship. I love the fact that it's a type of birth control that I don't really have to think about and it's good for 5 years. The downside, in 2 months I've had to have 3 IUD's put in because yes, your uterus can expell them. Each time they were inserted they did an ultrasound to check for positioning and they were fine. My uterus is just angry and doesn't like them. If you get one in, make sure you take some type of pain reliever, because it does hurt going in. TMI they do the speculum, then clean your uterus and vagina, and then they insert it. It feels weird for a little bit, but after a day or two you get used to it. The other downside is you either bleed/spot for a few days and you're done. Or you can be like me and bleed for 60 days (my gyno said the bleeding can last for up to 6 months). I don't get my period anymore, but I do get random cramps like my period is coming but it doesn't show up. So it has its good and bad, it's all dependent on you. Have you thought about the Depo shot? A shot in your arm that you get every month?

Hi everyone Looking for some words of encouragement. I was banded 9/27 and lost 23 lbs in the first three weeks of swollen stomach and generally feeling lousy. Since then I had a fill in nov of 5cc and 2days ago another 3 in my realize band which holds 11cc. I am starving!!! Trying to stick to soft foods just so mentally i will stay on track But I just ate some pretzels anddddd nothing! Little restriction. What? I'm already at 8?!? I know I'm not supposed to worry about the number but really?!? I'm getting discouraged. I've gained 9 back. Seems like its the same old of not being able to control myself. Worried this won't work for me If I go back for more will I ever get there?

I had my surgery Dec. 21. 2011 and I started noticing that my edges were getting thin about 2 weeks ago. I just started using castor oil on them and it seems to be working. I'll really be able to tell after more use, but I think it's working.

I have read lots of topics about hair loss but not much on hair regrowth. I had thin hair but a lot of it but now I would think I have lost about 50% of it. My question is which month did people start seeing good regrowth?? I will be 6 mths post op next week

Help Feeling Sick!!
PATCHELTON replied to detroitdame75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your surgeon's office. You are at higher risk for respiratory complications, and anesthesia may not want to put you under. I caught a cold the Friday before my Tuesday banding (3/25/08) and was sure it was nothing major, and that it would be over by Monday (it was). I called the surgeon's office and they postponed my surgery a week. I had been on a liquid pre-op diet for two weeks, and it wasn't enough time to go off it and back on, so I ended up on that an extra week, so by surgery day I had already lost 35 pounds. Don't put yourself at risk. Call.:cursing: -

Consult this morning and BCBS California question
gbakerc posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my consultation this morning and it went well. My BMI is 41 so I am not expecting major ins complications. The only issue was that my DR. practiced in California 4 years ago and said at that time they required 6 month supervised diet. I know of 3 in our company that had the surgery and this was not required. I spoke to BCBS last week and they just told me as long as you have a 40 bmi and psych eval then I should have no problems. Anyone have recent experience with BCBS CA? Greg -
I can't believe my surgery will be here in 6 days. This week has been so emotional for me. Little nervous but very excited all in one. Anyone else going through these same emotions???

ProudGrammy replied to Spooney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Spooney terrific that you don't have any problems drinking Water is more important than Protein at this point all people heal differently one person might start to feel better in a day or two another person might take anywhere from 1, 2 weeks til............ i was sleeved december 15th 3 years ago!!! i am still not normal!!! LOL feel better soon good luck kathy -
I had to do a 4 week pre op diet. I am 3 weeks post op and since I hit the two week mark I've been hungry. My surgeon won't put fluid in anyone's band until they are 4weeks post op. from what I gather having no fluid in your band is essentially like having no band at all. Needless to say I can't wait to get a fill!

Hello, Im new to this site and have been looking around. I was very excited when I found the pregnancy thread. I had my surgery in Feb of this year. To date I've lost a total of 153lbs. During this journey I've noticed a marked increase in my sex drive. Recently, I've noticed some strange changes in me. My period was a little late and was extremely short for me; only part of one day. My back has been killing me, I don't seem to do anything but cry and now I can't eat without throwing up. Im very tired and Im not the only one who has noticed the changes. My boyfriend made a comment yesterday too. So, my question to you guys is this...does having the lapband increase your chances of becoming pregnant? Do any of these symptoms sound familiar? I have an appt with my general practioner next week. I would like to be prepared with all the knowledge I can gather before I go see her. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
