  1. I had read that that if one still has gerd after rny, it is due to a too short roux limb and get get it lengthen. When I had my revision, my surgeon discussed how important it was to have a longer roux limb in the cases.
  2. I didn't have much pain in either the vsg or revision. I didn't even bother taking the pain meds after the first day in both cases. I just took otc Tylenol. Only because I can't handle the groggy feeling. The gas pains back then (vsg) was a bit painful but just walk, walk, walk it off if you can and take gas relieving otc meds. My surgeon suggested gasx strips but I like mylanta mini fruit chews.
  3. Yes I’m a vsg. No revision. I do not take vitamins my vitamin levels are normal.

No one talks about. To much weightloss

I'm a bit confused. Did you have revision, sleeve to bypass? You're showing marked as a sleeve patient and I recall you saying in another post a few days ago that you don't take vitamins, you just rely on a healthy diet to get your vitamins, which isn't recommended for bypassers. So the two posts are sort of contradictory, junk food vs healthy diet for vitamins. And also sleeve on your profile and now you're saying you got bypass two years ago. Can you clarify the details for us please? Thanks!
  5. My revision was virtually painless. I had no pain, no problems, no side effects and the restriction is everything I have always wanted. My surgeon was excellent though. I wasn't even in the hospital 24 hrs.

    Revision to bypass

Yeah. I got my revision to bypass last week. So far, this has been easier than the sleeve, and I’m just exhausted, but nothing hurts. I had horrible GERD, so they corrected a large hernia and cut my prior sleeve even more, to make it look good (it was enlarged). After all, the surgeon said everything looked great, and I felt ok. I’m hungry, but I think this is more mental than anything. I need to lose around 50 pounds to meet my goal. I was around 20 pounds short with the sleeve, but I could not do it.

    Revision completed

I’m just here to validate that yes, revision in my experience was much more painful than sleeve!
  9. I'm not sure what California has to do with it, as I know several surgeons who do resleeves, either by themselves or as part of a DS conversion. I suspect that it is more of surgeon's preference as resleeves can be more challenging than a virgin sleeve, as is often the case when doing a repair vs. an original build. Have you had your sleeve evaluated as to what is its' problem - is there a hiatal hernia causing your GERD, or a bit of a shape problem? Some surgeons aren't all that well practiced on fixing hiatal hernias on a sleeved stomach and will go direct to a bypass instead, as that is what they are most familiar with; a bit of overkill for that problem, but easier for them (if not on the patient....) I wouldn't consider a revision until understanding what the problem with the original surgery is (was there something wrong with how it was done, was it incompatible with my personality, or did I just learn how to eat around it and need something stronger along with better habits?) It's good that you are taking in a new attitude on the regain problem, as neither a resleeve by itself nor a bypass do great things for that overall - most of the additional loss seems to come from a return to extreme dieting around surgery time, but the actual revised anatomy doesn't do a lot that you already haven't had done; A revision to a DS tends to do better (actually more of a completion, as the DS uses the sleeve as its basis,) but that probably isn't an option with the group you are dealing with if they can't do a resleeve (if it were appropriate.) But with a sleeve, regain and "some" gerd, I would at least be looking into the DS as an option before proceeding, as the bypass is a difficult thing to undo or revise once it is done.

    Revision completed

Its been 2 1/2 years since my revision. Love the RNY so much better. My weight has been stable for over a year now closer to 2 years i would say. So all total i am over 5 years out from this journey and as far as the weight loss goes it was everything and more. I still have GERD ugh
  11. I have the same issue over 2 years after my revision to RNY. The GERD has never left and i am still on the strongest PPI twice a day and I still Burn at times ! Please let me know if you are able to get help. The Dexilant is over $2500 every 3 months !!! My saving grace is that my insurance covers it!
  12. Hello and welcome! I did not have a revision, I was "virgin" bypass. But, have no regrets and only wish I had done it earlier. Good luck!

    Gastric Sleevr Vs. Bypass

If I knew what I know now I would have just went with bypass from the jump. The regain is ridiculous but that was my fault and the pandy didn’t help either. So now im headed for a revision in December😫

Back to work after one week??

When I had my sleeve I was in nursing school I had surgery that Thursday had to stay in the hospital for 2 days because of my blood pressure. Was released Sunday and was at school Monday morning. Even tho everyone said I looked like death lol I got through it and graduated! With this revision I’m hoping to do the same. I hate being at home honestly 😫
  15. Revision from vsg to rny here. Yet again, I didn't use anything. I had surgery, slept, woke up, walked around, slept again, went home first thing in the morning. I basically brought a baggy dress that just slides over my head, comfortable walking shoes and a small pillow to hug, just in case of a bumpy ride home. Of course, I always bring phone, wallet with ID... etc.

    Sleeping

After my vsg, I slept in the bed as usual. i am not a stomach sleeper but a side sleeper. After my rny revision, I slept with a wedge, but mainly cause I had one. I don't think you need a recliner. I have been thinking about a tummy tuck, so I guess I'll have to cross that post-op sleeping crossroads when I get to it. It doesn't sound pleasant! lol

New to the group Vsg to bypass

Hi I just had the sleeve revised to the bypass on 10/17/22. I would like to be bypass buddies is you want. I am still in the dark as to what all to expect with this surgery but I will pass on anything I have learned
  18. Was your surgery for bypass? I just got my revision done last week just wondering how the weight loss goes after. Thanks for responding. Sent from my SM-S906U using BariatricPal mobile app

    California

Hmmm I am doing a revision from sleeve to bypass..I need to fix my profile I didnt know it said that. Thank you
  20. Hi David, Well I have some gerd with weight gain with my vsg surgery which was in 2018. So last year I asked if I can get resleeved due to the weight gain and slight gerd issues. and i was told in California they don’t do that the only option I had was bypass, So I went with that..my surgery was cancelled at 0100 last year due to my iron levels. I had to do the 10 week class as part of the revision requirements. So I’m all cleared now (this year) i plan on doing things way different this time around and actually puttin in the work..with my sleeve I didn’t workout or anything (I don’t advise that all) plus we were in the pandy sooooooo crossing fingers that I find things that help me along this new journey so I stay consistent but it’s all mental Honestly!
  21. No revision here but wanted to say bellow and welcome. Hopefully you get your surgery date and some relief really soon.

    Lap band questions

I never had a lap band (I had sleeve) but I have seen a lot of people on here posting with issues and most of them end up having to revise to another procedure eventually. May be worth doing some research if you are having issues.

    California

Not near California but Hello and welcome. Also, your profile says your surgery is lap band. Are you doing a revision??

    Vsg to bypass this December

Is this revision due to GERD? I'm trying to make the decision between sleeve and bypass myself so any experience you had would be helpful. Thanks.
