Wow... eeerily quiet around here!!! J - I plan on taking my bike out tomorrow for a spin. I haven't tried it since I got my new padded bike capris... so we'll see how it goes. Since my unfil on Monday I've been eating crap foods. Ice cream, Doritos, yogurt covered pretzels, m&m's... yeah. I need to make myself eat something substantial tonight. I'm thinking about trying a veggie 'riblet'. We'll see. I've been a croceting fool lately. Been making these fuzzy flip flops.... I've got several colors/styles/sizes... If you'll want some, let me know. $5 kids, $7 adults... I'm selling them at work and saving the money for my medical missions trip to Nigeria. I really need to go do something other than sit on my ass...

Welcome Darla!! :welcomeB: Looks like you're gonna be the first one of us to get banded!! I'll be right behind you!! You're so lucky to have your daughter to go through this with. Bandedme - The liquid diet is for those that are required to do so by their insurance companies to see if they can lose weight withOUT surgery and also to make the surgery safer. Also, some doctors require a few days of liquid diet to help them stick to a low-carb, low-fat diet prior to surgery so that the liver will be less "fatty". If your doctor doesn't require that (mine doesn't either) then just be grateful!! As for post-op, all the stories are different. I was shocked to find that my doc only requires a 'liquid' diet, not a 'clear liquid' diet....and I can even have cottage cheese, yogurt, and applesauce in the 1st 48 hours. After that I go straight to 'mushies'. When you start shopping again for your family, $20 says that you'll start buying much healthier food for everyone...and you'll be eating the same things, just less of them. Or they get pasta or rice as a side dish and you'll just skip those things. I know my husband is looking forward to the weight he'll be losing along with me after my procedure...when I eat healthier, so does everyone! And YES, running around after 3 kids DEFINITELY counts as exercise!!!! -
I had my first fill two weeks ago. I was losing very well but eating in between meals and starting to not feel so full. (My surgery was May 5 and I have lost 35 pounds.) So they said I should get a fill..which was an absolute breeze...no problem drinking a glass of water...no problem with liquids day 1 and mushies day two...but solid food has been difficult. I have found myself the last day over the toilet after every meal. Crappy food goes down great...ice cream or crackers....but chicken, tuna, hot dogs, burgers...all of that will usually come back up. I am feeling sore today...so should I just go to liquids for a couple days to give my stomach a break? I am so afraid I caused it to slip...though I can still feel when the food "goes through". Needless to say I have not lost any weight this week. But I lost 5 pounds the first week after the fill...so what to do? I don't do protein drinks but I do Carnation Instant Breakfast for breakfast..and yogurt goes down well. I could eat almost a half of sandwich yesterday...and I kept it down. Yogurt stays...course stupid stuff like chips and popcorn will stay down. And I don't want to be eating those...I just feel like everything I am eating is coming up so maybe I am hungry. To be honest..right now I am not sure I can tell because I am a bit sore........ Thanks Cindi

Hi Pnw. Welcome! Breakfast (though high in carbs) - I usually have grits and 2% cheese. This morning I had an egg and once slice of bacon. When it is cooler, I'll have oatmeal (I just like it better in the winter). Lunch: Varies. Sometimes baked potato, grilled chicken, Soup, or chicken salad. Thursday is my weigh in day. I always have Mexican on that day (usually my only eating out lunch). I usually bring my lunch to work with me. Dinner: I usually eat what the family eats - just a smaller portion. I normally have a snack about 4:00. Yogurt, Protein Bar, Protein Drink. It helps me get ready for my workout in the evenings. I drink water most of the time. If I want Flavor I'll add a crystal lite single to my water. Usually do that a couple times a week. At night I have a glass of milk normally after dinner.

Hi everyone, 4 years since my surgery. I have to say my journey had been an interesting one. I have to honestly say I am very happy I had my surgery but I must honestly say I no longer enjoy food the way I used to. One benefit to lap band instead of Ru en y... I can eat anything I want, no limitations except for the amount. Am still not filled all the way but can only eat very small portions. Gone are the days of eating half a pizza or 2 burgers. Now a half of a yogurt can fill me up. Still have some weight to loose, can't eat big meals but have learned how to eat lots of small meals. Still a journey... I broke down and got some of the greek yogurt at walmart the other day. Today I tried it for the first time..... Yumm! I used 1/4 cup yogurt, 2 tbl of kashi very berry granola, 1 strawberry diced up, 1 tsp honey. I think that you could flavor it to meet any taste... even could use the SF flavored Syrups or Pudding like Bea did. I can really tell this new fill is helping. I finally for the first time cannot GULP water. I had restriction before but could still gulp... Now I have to sip and chew to goo. I can't wait to see if the scales moving :tt2:

Tracy- you are kind of right, that was what happened last time, but I think pms was a big factor. I am back down to 213 and I was 233 on July 19. So my plan, liquids for the next couple of days to get rid of the bloat and get my self together, and make myself meals. I went to the store today and got some yogurt, some chicken, 2% cheese and some more tuna and veggies. So- saturday morning I'll get my butt out of bed and start eating real food. I usually do this Once a month and have worked hard to maintain. And I'm still holding strong It is just time to kick it up. Speaking of, I'm home from work and watching the Biggest Looser. If these people can work and sweat, so can I. I know I'm at the gym every other day, I need to kick it up. loose the last 14lbs to get into onederland I can do this. Anyone else watch? It is so touching, what people say is just so true and just touched my heart. -
Got a goooood fill yesterday. I now have 8.5 in my 10cc band. Today I had a 4oz Activia yogurt for lunch and after approx 3oz of it I was full. Took me 3 hours to drink my 12oz protein shake this morning. :cursing: I'm excited!! I really want this fill to be the MAGICAL one for me like the fill I had in Sept that worked good for 3 months!! Lol. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi July Bandsters - I thought I would share a somewhat humorous event from last night. First, I'm still on liquids until this weekend when I transition to mushies. Anyway last evening I had to take my elderly dad to the hospital (he's ok). We were there for 6 hours and I hadn't put anything in me. So while he was being tested I went to the cafeteria for something to eat. Of course since I can't eat solids yet my choices were extremely limited. In fact the only liquid option was the gravy from the fried chicken meal! Yes, I was so hungry I almost got just a cup of gravy. But, I perservered and found some yogurt instead. If I was in a different place (pre-band) I may have ordered the gravy for my dinner. I guess I am making progress. Hope everyone is doing well. Kathy

Orea, you get to be on full liquids already? I had to wait until today...my 11th day! =( On the 9th I did get to have a yogurt smoothie, 10th day I started 1 protein shake and today I incorporated the cream soups and stuff. These docs are all so different.

Ok, my diet doesn’t look like any of your diets. I eat. Like last night, I had two huge pieces of cornbread, a half filet of fish, and about seven brussel sprouts for dinner. I don’t think I had lunch, but I a Popeyes thigh for breakfast. Now normally I do not eat cornbread – it really was a special treat, but I really should have limited myself to one piece. The Popeyes chicken was just easy so I ate it. There are some nights that I eat a bowl of raisin bran for dinner (and yes I add sugar) – I can do that for a week and not feel the least bit deprived. Breakfast is usually iffy for me. If it’s easy and available, I’ll eat it – otherwise I won’t. When I’m at work, breakfast could be a bowl of oatmeal, or a yogurt. I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables so I snack on grapefruits and tangelos. I try to make myself eat apples, but for some reason, I am not really enjoying them. I used to love grapes, but my band is not all that into them… of course the band usually has the final word on what gets ingested sooo… I can no longer eat regular bread. My band hates bread. White, wheat, oat, oat bran, sourdough, or whatever… I can not get bread down. Sometimes I just want a bite of a sandwich, but it is not worth the feeling I get in my chest and stomach after I east bread. I can eat crackers as long as I only eat a few, but who wants lunch meat on a cracker? I sure don’t. Applesauce, which I love, was not going down easy at all, so I gave up on that. Well not really. I just purchased a jar, so apparently I’m willing to try again. Wow, I have not been on LBT in such a long time. My job has blocked access to the site because it thinks of it as social networking site. I used to find such comfort, knowledge and support here. Well I’m back… now that I have finally moved into my new home (the cable man came yesterday). But I plan on starting anew. I have had my one year anniversary, and I am not thrilled with my weight lose. I am down 64 lbs, which I know is not horrible, but it’s not what I envisioned when was contemplating surgery. So I need to get moving…literally. I need to exercise. I am seriously considering the body bugg. It’s not in my budget, but I feel like it would give me the edge that I need. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? The site has changed so much. I look forward to getting back into the swing of things.

Avoid any food advertised on TV? I think that one's a little harsh... I eat greek yogurt, cheeses, beef, pork, chicken... they're all advertised on tv.

txprincess, thanks for chatting. My problem is at night too. For breakfast i usually have a protein shake, or hard boiled egg with fruit, snack is usually yogurt, lunch is always a protein, usually chicken, and i try to get in a veggie. Dinner varies i do a lot of grilled chicken, and fish. Sweets is my problem and the drinking on the weekend. I will still devour a piece or cake or a couple brownies with milk, then lay in bed in agony. My husband asks why i do that to myself....and i have no good answer. I really thought i would do well with this, and it is very frustrating. If you ever want to talk more about things or how a day went my email is rachels0678@aol.com. Maybe we can compare things and work together:) Im trying to keep my head up and so far today hasnt been so bad....

I just saw this thread! I was banded on 10/26/12. I am so looking forward to tomorrow to start my protien shakes and yogurts. I have not cheated but yesterday and today I am really wanting something other than broth, Popsicles, Jello, low cal gatorade, and water! Reading all these posts is really encouraging. I am glad I found this thread. I have no real pain and I have had no pain med since day after surgery. My port is u der my arm and was sore for a few day, but feels much better now. -
Breakfast: a Tony Ferguson shake (meal replacement) that DH bougth some time ago that was sitting in the fridge, I thought I'd better use it up. It was disgusting SO sweet! How can it be good to go on a Meal Replacement diet to lose weight if the product tastes like its got 20 teaspoons of sugar in it? Revolting. Mid morning: a skim cappucino Lunch: some leftover broccoli, feta and hazelnut salad and asian slaw - about 3/4 cup total. 30 grams unsalted peanuts and some cantaloupe. Afternoon: starving, I really feel it if I dont ahve a good solid Breakfast so had a low fat yogurt. Still hungry 20 mins later, so had a slice of multigrain bread with a scraping of Peanut Butter. That did the trick. Dinner: chilli and lime marinated salmon on an asian style rocket salad. A glass of half white wine/half soda Water.
