FarmerE: Glad you liked the smoothie! It's one of my favorites. I'm going to try it a little differently today...I received a sample of Green Apple Nectar in the mail...Also, last night I took a High Protein Vanilla Boost and added some No Sugar Added Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream and made a shake for dinner. Was wonderful and had 20 g. of protein or so. Insubordination: I left a message to make my appointment, but haven't heard anything...hopefully they'll call back soon or I'll call them at 1. I'm having pain there too...really that and the shoulder pain is all the pain I'm having. And I'm still wanting to sleep. You're courageous to be going back so early...I took this week off. I needed the time away from work but I wasn't sure how I'd do either. Insubordination: Thanks! I hope it sticks as well. Breakfast this morning was some delicious Black Cherry yogurt...without the cherry pieces. I find that at "meal" times I'm only eating like 1/2 carton of yogurt or 1/2 serving of soup and 1/2 serving pudding. If my mom's scales are equal to my house scales, then I've already lost 5 pounds...but I don't know...I'll weigh again on hers this Friday. Suzzzie: Take it easy. You deserve the rest. I'm sure your work will understand if you take a few more days. I do deskwork...but I took the week off and I'm glad I did...plus it gave me some time with my munchkins and away from the hubub at the office. Keep your chin up and remember that we have a smoothie date sometime! ---- This is an amazing group....lots of support and I want to thank you all! My coworkers sent me some lovely flowers yesterday...they all know about the surgery and have all been very supportive. I may take a few more days off...not because of the surgery but to clean my house and stuff if I feel up to it (right before the surgery my husband and I found a house in the school district we prefer, in the town my mom lives in, and have put our house on the market yesterday and had a person come look at the filthy thing last night). I've got to get it cleaned...I've got some friends coming over this weekend to help do the "dumpster dance" and they told me I could coordinate (tell them what goes in the dumpster).

How was your 5:2 day today?

M2G, have you ever looked up the calories burned running errands? It's more than you think, don't beat yourself up. I made paleo muffins today, pumpkin spice using coconut flour! Pumpkin puree (made mine from scratch) Coconut flour ( wow you really only need the teeniest bit), eggs, honey, salt, baking soda and the spices, that's it! I jazzed them up with a bit of shaved dark chocolate and if you really wanted to go all the way there is a frosting (greek yogurt whipped with maple syrup). All in all, it is a low glycemic, non-inflammatory, high fiber, good protein snack that I can feel good about. Also, they are so packed with real whole foods that they are incredibly filling and satisfying and keep away the "need" to mindlessly gorge. thumbs up! I got the recipe from Comfybelly, in case anyone is curious, it is a site dedicated to eating without grains, particularly wheat.

How was your 5:2 day today?

So far so good, I pushed my schedule forward so that I would be in the office till late, it keeps me honest with my food to be in front of people. By days end, IF I can avoid the late night chocolate monster, I will finish the day with 642 calories, which is good. I drank hot tea all morning, sweetened with coconut crystals and a splash of almond coconut milk, then had a humongous salad for lunch that took me the entire afternoon to eat, and for dinner I will have a little yogurt with some guava paste and a sprinkle of coconut. On the professional front, please collectively cross your fingers for me, I have an interview this week (skype) with a potential employer in Seattle! I have already had round one interview. Also, the men in this program make concerted sneaky moves to purposely destroy the professional reputations of women in this program, slander so great it cannot be ignored. Also, the new team leader has a scary scary temper, he is untruthful, does not communicate, and makes appalling mysogynistic comments in the office. He's a civilian. I hit my head pretty hard about a week and a half ago, hard enough to make me nauseated and my eyes feel unmoored. I then had an emotional outburst the following day, I don't know if the two are related but I did have that TBI last summer... Freaking out because there are apparently bills from my stay in Germany in Sept and my worker's comp claim closed, FU**!!!! I just want to get the eff out of here.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Janet, you are SO organized!! I have never been to much into the picture thing. I use to be able to get an entire year of activities/holidays on one roll of 36. Fortunately, my children are much better. Yesterday I finally got in my 3+ miles. I felt like a bloated sheep. Did end up stopping 3 times to use the restroom. But this morning when I stepped on the scale it showed a 1/2 pound gain. I was SO hungry last night, I ended up having a bowl of blueberries and yogurt. I'm trying to tell myself that it was head hungries, but I just kept eating and didn't stop until bed time. I had about 300 extra calories...Okay...400. I assume it is stress, but WTF am I going to do about it. Last night was one of the first times I felt out of control. Hopefully the gain was a result of that bowl of blueberries & yogurt, otherwise, I am in trouble if I'm on a gaining cycle. It felt a lot like a TOM feeding frenzy and I haven't had one of those since my hysterectomy in 2000. This weekend I am going to try to get an extra walk in each day. Looking over the week of food, I did see some 'extra's' sneaking in. Tuesday had a 1/2 inch sliver of Huckleberry pie at friends birthday party. I removed all the whipcream. Tues & Wed, I only walked two miles each day. Saturday, I had 2 french fries dipped in melted cheese. Monday - Thursday, I had some broccoli slaw with sunflower seeds and dressing. I kept the dressing to a minimum, but the sunflower seeds are high in calories. So I guess if I look at it, I had about 1/2 pound worth of calories extra this week. I probably need to change up my exercise regeim (sp). I've been walking the same about for 6 weeks and I'm sure the body is getting use to it. I've been playing with making a weighted vest, some thing that will increase my mass to make me work harder. Payday, I'm going to join our local gym, the membership is very reasonalbe, only $25 a month, and no long term membership is required. It looks like a mechanic is going to take DD#4 dead Saturn. He is going to use it for parts. Giving DD#4 $175 for the tires and we will pull the battery. It is better than us having to pay to have it hauled aff. When they get done with the parts, they are going to send it off to have it dumped in the Pacific as reef building material. I kind of like that. Well best get going, everytime I close my eyes, I try to fall asleep, so if I don't get moving I will be asleep and miss school. Actually school is going well, the kids are bored, so am I. We are required to go over 'Procedures & Expectations', and at 45 min classes it is taking forever. Hopefully will get books checked out today, and get down to some fun science next week. I seem to be suffering from some ADHD, I just can't seem to focus and I'm hating sitting still to do paperwork or computer work. Sorry this post seems to be 'all about me'. I promise to be more other focused over the weekend. Janet, DD#1 has retained a lawyer to fight the unemployment block. She meets with the career councelor at Syracuse where she got her degree. Has lots of lawyer friends beating the bushes for a job. She would really like to get into environmental law, so maybe this is her chance. TTFN, I'm going to be late for work!

Hi Pacu, My nutritionist took me off fluids on Day 6---she said I was past due. I started eating yogurt, babyfood, etc... from that day and it's progressed since. :rolleyes Some doctors like their pts. to be on liquids for two weeks. Maybe that's your diet? It's a GREAT conservative, safe approach and ensures GREAT healing. Cheers, Toni

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Holy smokes 96 oz of water and 100g protein. What are u eating/drinking to get all that protein in It's a combination between liquid protein (shakes, isopure drink and regular protein (chicken, beef, beans) or a combination of regular protein from food plus a couple of protein scoops in my yogurt or sf pudding. Sometimes I add liquid protein to my water (I drink 32 oz at the gym or home before work) then I do another two 32oz at work during the day. One bottle of Isopure drink is 40 grams of protein and two scoops of Isopure powder is like 50g of protein, 1 bottle of new whey protein shot in my water split through out the day is 42g of protein, So, it's been pretty easy to get it in.
  8. I tried a scrambled egg when I first went on purees. It took me a long time to get half of it down. I have had another since, but actually have had more luck with hardboiled (while on soft foods). Pureed chicken salad (yours sounded good - mine had greek yogurt, lemon juice, dried onions and herbs) went down a lot better. And I ate a lot of lowfat cottage cheese. I mixed ricotta with vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and some splenda. Texture was a bit gritty but the flavor was good and it went down well.

    Any October Bandsters!??!?!

I had both my pre-op appointment with the surgeon and my diet class today and started my pre-op diet tonight, I have to get 70g of protein from supplements and then eat 4-6 times a day and can choose from yogurt, sugar free pudding or jello, oatmean or cream of wheat, low fat soup or broth, unsweetened applesauce, sugar free popsicles and fudgesicles, milk, coffee and tea. My surgery is scheduled for the 23rd at 7:30 am so I am the first one of the day. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am which my mom is not so thrilled about. I did get some samples of different protein powders from the dietician at the diet class today and I tried one this evening and surprisingly it wasnt too bad. It was the Nectar chocolate truffle protein powder. Hopefully I can tolerate the others as well, time will tell I guess.

    Shrinking Violets - Part 5!

100 calorie snacks are helping me... late at night is my worst, I want to snack and snack.. so I save up 400 calories for late night snacking, and I only have 100 calorie snacks. Yo Crunch has these new 100 calorie yogurt packs.. it's a vanilla or cheesecake yogurt, with crunchy candy bits you pour inside. Oh my.. it's 70 calories lighter than my normal yogurt and tastes better. Cheesecake one...mmmmmmmm. Says it's sweetened with Truvia, I guess I'm a fan of truvia now. Did I tell you guys I was looking into daycare for 2-3x a week? The place I checked first, was wonderful, but I couldn't afford it. Called La Petit which is about .5 miles from work, and they said they have discounted rates for companies in the area-I can afford it, but I don't know anything about them, so we're doing a tour tomorrow. They are a nationwide daycare 'chain', anyone else have experience with them or have any thoughts on them???
  12. How far out are you on your surgery, and what are you eating? I am 3 weeks out, and eating refried beans topped with finely chopped chicken, melted cheese, and sour cream. I also eat eggs, chicken salad (chicken & ff mayo), mashed potatoes, and of course, protein drinks and yogurt. I have to admit that I did scrape the toppings off a pepperoni pizza and ate that too the other night. I haven't had any complications or issues.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I can't type with my wrist brace on. I did really well today. I've had 2 Protein Shakes and Greek Yogurt. It's not a fast day. I'll have something else later. I wish my weight would not bounce all over. I want to see 140 not going up not down. I was 145 a few days ago and 147 this morning, and I haven't been eating wrong. I did my fast right yesterday. Ha Ha. People want in our group and all I am doing is gaining weight!

How was your 5:2 day today?

The not weighing for 30 days...I couldn't do it! Oh I've done it before when I was hiding from my scale but not when I'm trying to lose, lol. Yesterday was a feed day (Georgia, I eat fairly clean on feed days, but the reduced hunger/reduced snacking makes it hard to eat more...) and after dinner I was just over 1,070 cals. So I had some greek yogurt with PB2 in it and then drizzled a bit of choc. sauce over the top. Ended the day just shy of 1,200. Normally I do not eat anything after dinner, but this was like a nice dessert. I just couldn't stomach the thought of more meat.

Okay, catching up with everyone, so here goes a long one! :cheers2: Yes, I get heartburn on occasion, too. HOWEVER, when my fill was too tight, it was excruciating. I was so glad to get my unfill! Good luck on quitting the sweets, too...that's great that y'all are all doing it together! P.S. Your ass is not too big for a bike, girlie! Get on it! LOL Hooray for four days with no ice cream, Suzzzie! That is awesome! Yes, smack that bitch down for teasing your with Cold Stone! LOL Birthday party there? Ummm...NO. How'd the gym go? Dissapointed that you lost six pounds? Are you crazy, girl? That is six pounds that I pray you never see again! And YOU got rid of them...so pat yourself on the back and get "back on the stick" again tomorrow with this new fill! And size 14? That is GREAT! As far as seeing only fat in the mirror, I wish I knew the answer to that...you have to love yourself and no one can give that to you...but WE love you! OMG, the PB ones?!?!? I'd all but given up on them ever reaching anywhere for me to try the PB ones! Where did you get them from? GNC is supposed to get them before anyone, and they don't have them yet! ARGH! Okay, how the hell did I miss that you started C25K? Or did I just forget? (Prolly! LOL) If you don't mind, would you PM me details of how it is going for you? You and I are running about neck and neck it seems and I just put that off and put that off. It could be that I am freaking addicted to cycling, too! I really, really, really want to do a triathalon this fall, but I have GOT to get running! I am finding, also, that since my unfill I will get an excruciating headache if I don't eat enough. With me, if I eat a piece of turkey jerky, it usually disappears quickly, so mine must be a protein thing. And the turkey jerkey is so tender that I haven't had issues with it going down at all as of yet. That may have been timing, though, because I've found that since my unfill, my band is completely fickle...sometimes I can eat anything if I take it slow, and many times yogurt may barely trickle through. Only the good Lord knows why! I hope you get your insulin under control, Missy. I'm kind of freaked out today on my side. I went back to my doc for a four-week follow up and I DO have diabetes. I was in shock. But he also said that my levels are not bad and getting the rest of my weight off would likely correct it. Then he put me on the 10MCG Byetta instead of the 5MCG. Word to the wise if you are prescribed Byetta...keep it in the fridge always...not just the one night before you start it like the insert says. It loses potency as the month goes by if you keep it at room temperature. Found that out the hard way this last two weeks! I'm glad to hear the fill is doing well for you, Dan! And let us know how the girl thing goes...we're rooting for you! And "AMEN" on the ice cream comment! I have to eat it till it's gone, too! My last bit of Buttered Pecan went tonight and I'm not buying any more! Absolutely! And hopefully Karla will post where she got the peanut butter ones ordered from! You can order the Caramel Nut Chocolate ones from many places, but the best price I usually find on just about anything is here: Bodybuilding.com - Supreme Protein Product Listing - On Sale! Lowest Prices For Supreme Protein! If anyone knows a cheaper place, please let us know! (Make sure y'all are ordering the "Carb Conscious" version or they WILL make you gain weight!)

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Janet, thanks for the suggestions. I need to get some deli meat, I think that will be agood idea. Anything 'creamy' (yogurt) seems to be giving me hell. AND I agree, it is the dehydration. This summer I drank at least 40 oz of water a day, now I am lucky if it is 8. So back to figuring out how to go about getting in the fluids. Linda, glad the surgery went well. Yep, babies are for young people. I don't know how some of these ladies have babies in their late 40's. I'll let you all know how the dr. appt goes, TTFN

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

I'm finally up this morning. Had a bit of a melt down at work yesterday. I was busting my butt cleaning one of the greenhouses and the other employees, one as old as sin and came with the nursery when my boss bought it and the other a teenager, are driving around in the golf cart, stopping and moving a plant here and there. The stop by and tell me that I need to wait on a customer. I kind of lost it. At the end of the day I went to the boss and said, "I need a day off." I was bawling. She said to take tomorrow and gave me a hug. I appologized for crying, but she said, "No big deal. That for 2 years after her dad died she would start crying for no reason." Anyway, last night, I went out and had a good time. Had a couple of adult beverages and met a sweet guy friend of one of the teachers. I thought for a moment he was into me, but to no avail. He has promised to show me how to shoot. Just a really nice guy, damn. Town is just crazy with the Creamery celebration. The only way I have been able to park at my own house was to baracade my driveway with my garbage dumpster. But people seem to be having fun. Since I didn't get home until...wait for it...a totally unheard of hour for me...2:30 a.m., I am going to take a nap, pick up my house, set up my drip system AND sit on my deck. I may even celebrate and make a fire and have a smore. I have a lot of calories from yesterday, so I can have one guilt free. Plus I have calculated the calories of a smore to be at 160. Basically I had a small blueberry, yogurt, & Kashi for breakfast, 1/2 a protein bar for lunch, and 2 margahittas for dinner yesterday. How is Bella today? Phyl, one week? Damn, that means summer is almost over. I hope you find some relief soon. Did the car get fixed to Earl's specks? Linda, just remember...9 months...9 months... Candice, enjoy your 'mad' money!!!
  19. So over puree!! Dreaming f food with crunch such as a prawn salad. 2 weeks to go, not that I could get something like that down at the moment! This not feeling hungry s strange. I do feel empty at times especially on first waking up in the morning, but it''s different. I was even full eating half a cup of strawberries and yogurt last night and could not finish it. Sent from my iPad using VST
  20. I added my modified my optislim tomato soup recipe to the Recipe Swap board. I'm going to try blending my Protein shake powder into yogurt for dinner. Lets see how it goes. Edit to add that it's really good! Would be even better with vanilla or banana I think!
  21. I had training today (and tomorrow) off-site. This facility has awesome catering. I was able to eat morning tea and lunch and only ate a snack I has brought for lunch. Here is what I had and I didn't feel sick at all. Breakfast at home: 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 small banana Morning tea: a tangerine and about 1/3 of a sausage roll Lunch: a prawn, a few bites of baked chicken (pretty moist and I took tiny bites), a crouton, a bit of boiled egg, half a thin slice of salami, a couple noodles from a noodle salad, small piece of tomato, small piece of capsicum. And one bite of strawberry cake. I logged all this and it was about 130 calories. Afternoon snack: 2 cheese sticks (instead of a timtam) I will probably just have the last of my purée chicken with some gravy for dinner. I will end up just over 800 calories. I listed this to show people what they might be able to look forward to. I know some people don't tolerate this stuff. One thing is that I have been able to tolerate Water but now that I'm on solids water tastes bitter.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Sheryl I hate it when someone cancels on the last minute. Couldn't he have planned on his Doctor's appointment early on. So frustrating..... You will get back to 5:2 when your ready, just not right now....... I thought that you may enjoy this, it looks so good! Glazed Strawberry Banana Dessert Ingredients: 1 banana, sliced 2 cups strawberries, sliced 1 ounce raw almonds or walnuts, chopped 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp. ground ginger 1 tbsp. coconut oil 1 cup Greek yogurt 3-6 drops liquid stevia extract Directions: Heat coconut oil in a medium saucepan over low heat until melted. Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and liquid stevia, mix to form a brown glaze. Keeping heat low, add sliced bananas and strawberries and mix until they are completely coated. Continue to heat until bananas are just warm. Remove from heat. Add nuts and mix until nuts are completely coated. Spoon mixture onto a plate alternating in layers with the greek yogurt. PO also says: "You can sweeten the yogurt with a little stevia too, but I prefer the contrast."

How was your 5:2 day today?

Coops!! A loss at Christmas??? It is a true Christmas miracle!! Sarsar, and the others hang in there. After this winter hump I'm sure we will be right as rain again.. I'm just telling myself it's the season of the blahs and somehow it's helping keep my head above water a bit knowing its just the perfect storm swirling about. Skiing Jane? Yay! I've always been terrified of it. somehow the thought of my body momentum hurling me downhill on two slick thin sticks attached to my legs just never sat well with me I do like cross country skiing though Ok fast yesterday was HARD! I drank tea non stop all day and it just didn't help very much (damn carbs) I "ended" the day at 465 only to cave and have some yogurt and blueberries late last night, so yeah..
