  1. What a good thread! Well it's not Sunday, but I wanted to post if it's ok I'm on my lunch break at work hee hee  I'm happy to have lost 20 lbs in one month. I've NEVER been able to say I've lost that much weight ever. My husband hugged me this morning and said "you're getting so small, my arms wrap so far around you when I hug you now!" that was a great NSV. Also sleeping comfortably again has been a relief for me! I still have a way to go before goal but I know I will get there. So thankful for my sleeve! Good luck to everyone and keep the good vibes coming!

    2 Nsv's

Congrats on both NSV's! excellent feeling, isn't it?
  3. I am 7 1/2 months out and down 121 pounds. I have been at a stall for a few weeks, but am really losing inches even thought the scale isn't moving right now. I don't mind it one bit! I started in a size 26/28 pants size. This weekend I went shopping and bought... get this a size 13 in the juniors section... OMG I could not beleive it, a size 13... that is half of what I was wearing before.. The last time I bought juniors size clothing was in elememntary school! Another amazing NSV was the for the first time in my life I was able to shop at Vistoria Secrets... 112$ later and it was super worth it... I have never felt so normal in my life.. The only down side of all this weight loss is that my cup size has gone up :/ So weird, most women lose weight in their boobs.. but not me... I have gone way down in band size but up in cup.. maybe I was wearing the wrong size to begin with HAHAHA. Sorry guys, this was a rant probably better for women But none the less I am super happy with my results and have no intention of stopping anytime soon

    Nsv !!!!!!!

Holy Cow ! Ok, so I havent bought any new clothes in years, and I mean that literally .... I just dont like to shop for clothes, unless Its for something i specifically need. So, since surgery, my things are practically falling off of me, so i broke down yesterday, and went to CJ Banks. I was a 28 for the past 15+ years, so I figured i must NOW be down to a 24, or maybe even a 22 .... nope - an 18 !!!!!!!!! Holy crap!! I was just stunned! I actually cried in the dressing room, and called 5 people I knew who would appreciate it ! LOL Wow, this is all SOOOOOO worth it :-) I just had to share ....

    Pre Op Nsv

Yesterday I packed up my shorts for the year, and put them into storage. I get a sleeve date on Monday, but its so nice to know that I won't fit on those shorts next year, and that I will be buying all new shorts instead. I'll give those to some of my larger friends. Let me tell you, it felt great to know next season those shorts won't be a part of me.

    1st NSV!

I had some stretchy pull on jeans that were tight a year ago, and became less so after I lost some weight pre-op- they were a size 4x. Since surgery they had become un-wearable, finally had to toss them because I noticed a hole in the butt. So I ordered some new ones in a size 2x (18-20), thinking I am probably closer to a 3x, but they are stretchy. If they are a little tight I could just deal and will shrink into them. I got them in the mail today, tried them on and they fit perfectly- NOT TIGHT! It's a lift I needed since I have been in a stall for over a week. Yay for NSVs!!!!! -Kendra
  10. I had my surgery on May 9th. It's 12 weeks today! Time flies! Here is the official report: HW: 265 (4 wks before Surgery) SW: 239 CW: 209 Dress size: 22w to 14/16 My post surgery wt. loss is not as fast as some. But I am very happy! It is headed in the right direction! And the total wt. loss in last 4 months is close to 60 lbs! No complains from me! NSVs: Started wt. training and loving it! Started Couch to 5k. On wk. 2. Day 2 At lowest wt. in almost 16 years Compliments/comments that made me feel great: Hey girl! You are shrinking! Looks like someone is bringing the sexy back here! food goals: Kept below 800 cals a day on non-exercise day Upto 1000 on exercise days Carbs no more than 70 gms on exercise & 40-50 on no exercise days Protein intake: 80-110 per day Here is the biggest one: I HAVE LOGGED MY FOOD IN MFP FOT 80 DAYS IN A ROW! hair loss: There is some so far only when I shower. I use Organic coconut oil couple of times a week. I massage it in gently and wash my hair in the morning. Hoping for the best. I will take the temporary hair loss to have a chance at permanent weight loss! Other: No weakness, no surgery pains/complications. Hoping for continued downwards journey and support from this wonderful community!
  11. I took a friend to the hospital today for tests. After they told me I could go get my car and pick her up outside the front entrance. So I was walking a long and there was a mom and a little girl behind me.... The little girl was chattering away about everything and nothing. Then she stops and says, 'mommy why is that lady's leg so little?' I knew she was talking about me because we were the only ones around. Her mother did not miss a beat! She said,' honey I think she was born with them like that.' I looked around and the mother smiled faintly at me hoping I did not hear. I smiled back. I thought, " you should have seen me two years ago, they would have been hidden from view." Is that a NSV or just an observation by a little girl with big blue eyes!
  12. I've always thought Hue makes the best opaque control top tights. But at sizes 4 and 5 they only come in black and brown. Today I fit into a size 3 of a grey pair I bought long ago for "just in case." Now I'll be able to get purple and pink and orange and blue and every color under the sun!!! Yay!!! (Not that I will get orange . But I can!!) Yay!!
  13. First my NSV. After 20 years I can finally wear my "official" wedding ring. I was so excited I almost cried. I had to take a picture an text it to my husband. Yay! Also the same day my daughter decided to show me how far I have come. I haven't list any weight in 2 months (ever since the doctor started messing with my synthroid) and I was saying that I don't feel like I look that different. She had to prove me wrong and made a side by side photo. I have never been so excited to be proven wrong. In the first I was at my highest weight of 248 and the second is at my current weight of 177.

    Side Bar NSV

I am wearing dress pants today that I bought a couple of years ago, but never felt comfortable in (always too tight) -- and right now they are loose! My biggest size pre-band was a 20/22, and right now I'm probably a 16 fitted and 18 comfortable. My question to you fellow bandsters -- are you buying new clothes as you lose? I haven't yet (trying to be economical)...plus, and this might sound crazy, a part of me is always worried that I'll gain again.

    My first NSV's

What a super NSV! Congratulations!! Emily
  17. Congrats on the NSV and the anniversary!
  18. I'm getting toward the end of my journey, and it's funny how things are so different from the inside looking out. I've realized through this journey that while each NSV and every mini goal met is significant and praise worthy, the most significant loss I had was the first 30-40 for me. It was when I hit the middle of those numbers that I realized that I WAS doing this! I AM going to succeed!! I CAN keep losing this weight!! It was the true marker for me and the green light to realize that my body was changing, I was shrinking and it was the first and probably the biggest boost to my confidence that I've had this entire journey. That being said, the first 30-40 lbs of my loss was probably the most insignificant to those around me and who saw me on a daily basis. It was enough for them to see that I'd lost 'some' weight, but let's face it when you're as big as we all are/were a 30-40 lb loss LOOKS like maybe 10-15 to the untrained eye. I don't even think my first 30 I went down a pant size yet! Hardly anyone noticed those first blocks of weight when they were shed, but I knew. I noticed, and I was proud!! Now, as I'm battling my last 40-30 pounds it seems really insignificant, I've already battled away over 100 lbs of loss, what is 30 or 40 more? It's nothing! BUT! To those that are outside looking in, I think this is the MOST significant 30-40 pounds. In my last 10 pounds of loss I've had more compliments, comments, people noticing how small I've gotten. They marvel and wonder aloud 'How much more are you going to lose?!'. It's funny how that flip is switched. For me to say 'Oh, just 30' now the looks are of shock and awe! When I lost my first 30, those who asked how much I had lost and I told 'Oh, just 30' very excited and bubbly, they'd respond with maybe a glance and an over the shoulder 'Oh, that's good...'. It's funny how people perceive those who are going through a change. Ultimately, I'm proud of every last pound, every last inch. This transformation has been amazing! I'm not the fastest loser, but I'm not giving up!! I'm going to do it! I'm going to reach my goal, and I know each and everyone of us can and will!!

    Gym-related NSV

So I haven't weight trained since my VSG on January 8, because I didn't want to do it until I'd gotten clearance at my three-month post-op checkup, which was last week. (I've been swimming and walking for exercise since surgery, but no weight training.) I got clearance from my surgeon to resume weight training last week, so I went to the YMCA (where I work out) today. The YMCA has a computer system called ActivTrax that will generate weight-training workouts for you so you don't work the same muscles all the time or get bored, and I wanted to have a trainer re-evaluate my ActivTrax weight stats before I just went back at it willy-nilly. I did the re-evaluation today, and I am right where I was before surgery. The last time I weight trained must have been December sometime, but I guess the swimming helped keep my muscles strong, because the trainer didn't have to adjust any of my weight levels. I can pick right back up where I left off. I am so happy I haven't lost any strength. I love weight training (cardio bores me but I do it anyway), and I am just tickled pink that I can still do what I was doing pre-op. YAY!

  22. Congrats! That is a fabulous NSV- no more worries for you! I haven't flown on a plane forever, but will be several times in the next year. My first flight will be in mid October. I hope to be around 250lbs by that time. I'm 5'7- do you think I will need to use one? I hope not! I have no idea at what weight people need one. I know it is probably different for everyone- but wondering if there is a ballpark number?

    Overwhelmed!

I didn't have quite as much to lose (I started at 325) but I was overwhelmed for sure. Even when I was down quite a bit I felt overwhelmed. Every time the scale stopped I was worried that was it. But I hung in there and ten months out from surgery I am down 125lbs, am down 6 pants sizes, and I feel (and look) like an entirely different person. It's scary and frustrating at times, but sooo worth it. I kept trying to tell myself that the next year would pass whether or not I got the surgery or followed the plan, and that I'd rather be on the track of looking back at how far I've come than wishing I had made the choice. Making a list of reasons I want to be at goal weight helped me. When I was stressed or when the scale didn't move I would pull it out to remind myself. And as you progress write down all your successes, even the smallest NSVs. It will get easier over time, I promise.
