Hi, I think I was there the same time as you. I was sleeved by Aceves on the 10th. Great experience, although I don't remember too much of it because of the meds. They put us at the Crowne Plaza the night before surgery though. I wonder why you were in a different hotel? Best wishes on your journey! If you are who I remember you didn't look like you had much to lose. I thought you might have been a lapband revision to sleeve. I am down 10 lbs so far one week out!

New To All Of This
mstratto replied to kayleighltaylor's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had the band in 2008 and needed to do 6-mo work my primary care doc, education with surgery group, etc. and...lose some weight. so, I can relate but it helped me jump-start some weight loss. I'm in a different state now (literally and figuratively) and learning again...I have a new bariatric surgeon here in NC (was in MD) and we've agreed to move toward the bypass. I gained back some from band (actually to the pre-op weight). I'm scheduled for my revision to bypass surgery July 9 and can't wait. Keep us posted on your journey with all of the insurance, education, etc. We're all here to help. take care -

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know my blog is hosting a giveaway from Lane Bryant. 2 winners will receive a $30.00 gift card from Lane Bryant (mailed personally from me). I know with weightloss it is hard to purchase clothes. I thought this might be of interest to you. I don't have many entries right now so wanted to give you the heads up. I won't post my link here, I am not intending to spam anyone. But if you are interested in this just send me a email either here or to my email Kysweetheart2007@gmail.com and I can send you the link. On a different note my revision surgery went great. I am getting restriction back and almost to that green zone. I am debating on getting another fill this week or waiting until after Christmas. I don't want to be too tight but then again I don't need to be gaining weight either. Egg Nog is goin to slide right down either way I look forward to hearing from you! Tabby

When you are tired of discussing your weight loss....
Daisalana replied to picardy3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a little with Rainer.. I guess it's what they're saying, depends on what you want to hear!! I work with my entire family, including DH. So everyone sees me every day. They have blatently said, they don't notice the weightloss since they see me all the time. So, I send them e-mails with my before & after pic (of the month). And they go WOW! And that's that. DH has made a comment when it comes to sex, that he notices then. People in the back of our plant, who don't see me often, will once in a while say they can tell I've lost weight, ask me how much, etc. First, I love to hear that they can tell- because sometimes I can't tell myself When they ask how much, I get dodgy. And on smoke breaks, I don't like when people just want to talk about how much more I've lost since xxx. Especially since I'm in perma-bandster hell till my next surgery. And word spread like wildfire about me having to do a revision surgery, and I know that makes a lot of people think "She should have done the other one", or "It's not going to work".. the last one is how I feel right now. Just tough spots, and wish it wasn't a hot topic. -
Know a few who have had it; some have maintained their weight, others haven't. Bypass is considered the gold standard because it generally results in the most dramatic/quick weight-loss, however, dramatic and quick loss is rarely ideal. To me, gastric bypass is way too invasive and I'd rather have all of me in tact. The fact that you have to worry about dumping and have to live off vitamins for the rest of your life is a turn off for me. I don't want to be taking pills everyday for the rest of my life due to the fact that my system has been altered in such a way that I can't absorb certain vitamins. Even though results are usually promising with bypass, all surgeries require a lifestyle change. Knowing how to eat and the importance of moving (note, I didn't say exercise) is critical for anyone losing weight, with or without surgery. Plenty revise to bypass, but I've also seen bypass patients revise to Lapband; it's a catch-22. If you're willing to make the needed change, any surgery will work, so will non-surgical methods.

Upper GI done, hopefully one step closer
Pm121 replied to mom2sparky's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi mom2sparky, I am wondering if you got approval for your revision based on the GI results. I have a similar situation. Thank you. -
I had my band to bypass revision a few days ago on 7-20-16. I had to stay an extra day in the hospital because I couldn't pee on my own, but finally got to go home yesterday. Now I am just working on sipping protein water, walking around the house, and resting. I did manage to get 1 premier protein shake in today by taking small sips throughout the day. I am so glad to finally begin my weight loss journey. [emoji4]

I had gastric bypass surgery in October of 2008. I lost 150 lbs. In 2010 my oldest son shot himself and for years after that my weight has spiraled out of control. I have gained about 70 lbs. I haven't been happy, especially with myself, since my son's death. I am ready to turn my life back around and lose the weight again. I am needing to have a revision done. Thinking of having the stitches done.

Thanks for sharing. It is important for all potential sleevesters to hear all stories...good and bad. Luckily, my band to sleeve revision went very well and I'm nearly 3 weeks out. Help out your MIL and give her support so she can meet her grandchild. I know that it is an exciting time for you...I just had my first baby 4.5 months ago. I can't tell you how much joy your little one will bring. I wanted to be healthy in the long term for my little boy and that is why I decided to get the sleeve. Luckily my surgeon is wonderful here in the US and I've had great post op care. Good luck to you and your family.

Good for you! I know what that feels like. I remember the day I decided I wasn't going to waste another 6 months fighting my insurance company over the revision. It was freeing and I knew that making t he decision was the first step. My sleeve is really working well. Visited my doctor today and am down 28 pounds. She was amazed. And jealous, she's got the lap band and wished she had a sleeve. She actually sent her parents for sleeves about a year ago. A new life lies ahead for you!

I was reading a brilliant blog on here the other day (I don't remember the author) and she said something like.."I am going to Mexico and having most of my stomach cut out...who does that??" I am having my band to sleeve revision in 10 days and I keep asking myself if I am crazy. I am going to Dr Aceves and of course, have heard nothing but great things about him and his staff. Honestly, I am terrified!!! I have mine and my hubbie's tix to San Diego purchased, we have the time off work, I have the inlaws coming over to watch my kids. However, I am still in denial. I keep saying to others and myself the word "IF." IF I go to Mexico and do this....IF I actually go through w/this. For some reason I can't quite say "I AM DOING THIS." I seem to always be THAT person that has complications. I have had a DVT (over 2 ft long blood clot) in my leg w/blood clots in my lungs.. I am overall healthy...but am a nurse and feel like I have the dreaded "nurse curse." I am also still wrestling w/the whole idea of removing most of my stomach. I have been researching the sleeve for over a year now ( I am a band to sleeve revision). I have desparately wanted to revise, but now when it comes down to it..I am a chicken...they tell us that the LapBand is reversible and that was a huge selling point to me. Well, it's removable, I don't know about reversible- it has caused quite a bit of damage The sleeve is permanent and I just don't want to make another mistake. Thank you everyone SO much....I have LOVED reading all your stories and sharing in your struggles. Much Love, Erika

Hey there fellow bariatric pals. I am looking for advice or anyone with similar experience. I have GS March 2014 with top weight of 250 at 5'6" BMI 41. I lost about 55 lbs which my lowest weight has never exceeded about 185. (Goal weight about 165) So, at this time, I have gained back some weight and am at 200 lbs. So about 15 lbs back again. My doctor recommended perhaps having the Duodenal Switch/Revision to continue to take more weight off. But, I really only need to lose about 30-35 lbs. I am afraid that I will get under 160 lbs and be too thin. Has anyone had the DS after the sleeve? Still researching and trying to make the best decision. Thanks to all for your time to read and comment. NY1966

I loved the Protein powder from costco before surgery, but have a hard time getting it down now, do the premade taste better then the powder? The liquid diet is a struggle but the end result is worth it! Revision 1/31/13 by Dr Cabrera and Venezuela in MX

Lap band January 2019 surgery date
ElectricBoogaloo replied to Linda.fultz@adm.com's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in 2014 and actually loved my band. Even though I didn’t make goal, I counted my experience as a success because I was probably on my way to my very own episode of M600PL and the band prevented it with also an associated weight loss! I was recently revised to a sleeve because I was diagnosed with esophageal dilation due to my band (scary stuff). That part...not so good. At the time I elected to get the band, I wasn’t at a place where I would consider anything more invasive. It is definitely a tough and personal decision. There are folks who are wildly successful with many years under their belt and those where the band has to be removed for whatever reason (even if all of the rules are followed), with significant symptoms and comorbidities due to the band. Have a thorough discussion with your team about the pros and cons for you and do extensive research. If I had to do it again, I would still get the band because I wasn’t ready then. If my first surgery were today, I would have opted for the sleeve instead, but I now have a different mindset (can’t distinguish if my mindset has changed based on my experience with the band or just overall wisdom/lack of fear of the other surgeries). I wish you well with your decision. -
Lap banders - Where are you?
Oregondaisy replied to Twice Shy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with that. The people here who had the band had it removed because the band causes so many problems. I did lose weight with the band but I would have gained it all back because of band problems. I started gaining it back and have my revision to sleeve. Go to lap band talk.com and you'll find some people who have the band but most of them have not had it long term. There aren't a lot of people out there who still have bands after a few years. -
I'm soooo nervous right now. I'm having a revision tomorrow morning. He is taking my crapband out and hopefully doing the sleeve. I have been reading do many posts on this site and they have been very helpful.

Is there anyone who has had to have a revision to an arm lift. I had one last year and while it is significantly better, it's still bad. The dr. said he can do it again but that the skin is so stretched that while it will be better it won't be perfect. He said the scar tissue shouldn't be an issue. I always heard working around scar tissue is difficult. Before and After pictures - thoughts? Would you do it again? (he said he would do it for free if I had lipo on the thighs which I had been thinking about) (see other post on flabby thighs)

Arm Lift Revision
Threetimesacharm replied to shellbell125's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I personally have had an arm lift in January 2013 and had great results. I have had other plastic surgery where I feel like you that they did not remove enough skin in the first place. Having consulted with another PS he did say that with bariatric patients you really have to be aggressive when removing the skin. It looks like your PS was not aggressive enough. If you can go to someone else I would, otherwise definitely I would go for a revision. -

Hi I am looking into band to bypass revision due to reflux in Belgium. Anyone had this surgery there? Please share your expenrience. Thanks. -
Only three more days to tolerate the pain and complication this (#)% lapband has caused for the last three years. The removal and revision to RNY is on 06/01/16 and I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!! I thank everyone who posts on this forum for providing the insights, traumas, and laughter that has helped me through the last stages of this process. Though I lurk more than I write, I have gotten so much great information from all of you, information I needed to make this a smoother transition. The next step will be tough, and I really hate pain, but reading the stories you've shared gives me comfort and hope. See you on the other side! Rosie
