  1. Ok, and I finally have a definitive answer to this question. I have a line from my elbow to the bottom of my armpit (from the arm lift), and then another line down my trunk with the starting point at the highest part of my side-boob and along the under-boob (from the breast revision reduction/breast lift)....so two unconnected lines. ...though I still haven't seen it myself. My surgeon used his finger to show me where the beginning and end lines were.
  2. I had my bypass done back in 2014 and lost over 200 pounds. I had then entered a rather toxic relationship and became pregnant. I ended up leaving him but shortly after I had a miscarriage and fell into depression. I had gained some weight during the pregnancy as per normal... but after the miscarriage, I blew up like a balloon. Its been 5 years and I gained back 100 pounds in the time of 15 months (During the pregnancy and after the miscarriage). Have any of you had issues with gaining weight back years later? I would appreciate any advice you can give. I have had the hardest time trying to get it back off.
  3. Yes, it's possible. It's not going to be a classic RNY bypass but the anastomosis will be changed to an RNY one anyway. I think I'm going to get this along with hiatoplastic and gastropexia (hernia is back again and with it reflux got worse). I'm still on the fence though because at the moment things seem to be better again. ETA: fixing bile reflux after MGB is obviously quite like fixing bile reflux after partial gastrectomy with a Bilroth II anastomosis. They change the anastomosis into an RNY one.
  4. I originally had a sleeve and a few years back had it revised to the mini bypass. I have the worst reflux ever now and have gained back even more weight than before the MGB and am just miserable. Is it possible to have a second revision to a full bypass? I saw a digestive specialist and he suggested that was the route I go, but ran into trouble actually finding a surgeon that would perform it, So if anyone has an insight or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it
  5. Interested in hearing from anyone who's had hernia repair surgery after bypass or sleeve. Advice? Thoughts? I am 6 months post op rny and was just told that I have to have an abdominal hernia surgery next week! Im trying not to panic about another surgery and not being able to exercise for 6 weeks. I've lost almost 120 lbs and I'm proud of my workout routine, so I'm terrified about breaking my new habits. I have 20 lbs left to lose and I'm sick with the thought that I'll gain some of my weight back. Appreciate any insights y'all might have for me. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Sleeve to full bypass here on 11/22. No more reflux and no regrets. Losing weight pretty rapidly.
  7. I went with sleeve revision to full bypass on 12/6. Very happy with my decision. No reflux!
  8. I had the sleeve and did the revision to the mini and if I could go back and not do the revision I would. I have gained back everything I lost and more, I have consistent reflux and vomit bile almost daily. I recently had a surgeon tell me that the mini was the worst choice for me and the surgeon who performed it, never should have. Not saying this is the same situation for you, but this was just my personal experience

    Band to bypass

I had my removal and update to Bypass done at the same time. I'm so glad I revised!

    Barimelts???

Yes I do take biotin and use a shampoo that is supposed to block dht and prevent hair loss. I had sleeve in March 2018. Started losing hair then and never stopped losing it. Praying that I don’t lose more with this revision! i meant that I don’t have to take calcium and iron separately
  11. I had the bypass in January and right from day 1 I was STARVING. Im still hungry all the time. Its a nightmare. I struggle every single day to not eat too much because Im hungry every 2 hours like clockwork and it isnt head hunger
  12. I was revised from VSG to RNY due to horrific GERD and Barrett's Esophagus a week ago today. I had kept off 105# of an initial 125# weight loss but due to two hip surgeries stalling my running, had regained about 20# in year 6. But overall I was still happy with permanent weight loss. I had an abdominoplasty in 2013 where they pulled me pretty tight. Since discharge, the vast majority of my pain has been along the part of my incision adjacent to the abdominoplasty. Surgeon says this is common. Anyone else experience this?

Have any of you dumped on purpose?

I pray dumping doesn't happen to me. This seems terrible, I've seen a few wls employees in my office experience this at work. Yet, they continue to repeat the behavior with the same food. One of them never dumped until she had the revision to rouxny. The other lady has the sleeve and she's not going to let something like dumping get in the way of her love of sugar. I personally hate being nauseous and miserable, I can deal with pain better than nausea and vomiting.

    Band to bypass

I had them both done in one surgery, and had a hiatal hernia repair also. I would want to do it in one surgery--less hospital time and anaesthesia risk. My surgeon likes to do them in one shot if you are going band to bypass. He said it was difficult to go from band to sleeve and usually splits those up.

    Gastric Bypass for Senior Citizen

I am 65 and got a bypass a month ago. My surgeon made me get a cardiac clearance in addition to the medical one. but it was a precaution and he really wasn't worried about my age. Being morbidly obese was a larger health risk than my age. All went well--had the same amount of pain most people comment about, mostly from the gas that they fill your abdomen with. I'm back to doing everything I did before surgery (other than eating my butt off, that is!)

    Stomach leaks

That’s so funny... Dr Snyder is my surgeon and I recommend him in a pm to Cathy. He is the best of the best and saw me through my difficult time. Poor man... I was his first (and hopefully only) leak. After my surgery he actually revised how he did the sleeve. Great man - I actually texted him today to thank him for everything.
  17. Just wanted to let you know that as soon as my bypass was done I had no reflux whatsoever! My surgery was on November 12th, and I feel great. I started at 176, my SW 157, CW 142 Anyone out there getting the bypass for acid reflux it's going to have a nice surprise because it takes it away almost instantly I haven't had one problem and I haven't had to take any Prilosec. Random pains

Yes. I am 4 weeks out from revision to rny. I saw my pa last Wednesday. She has a good sense of humor. She said the technical term for this phase in the ooey gooey phase lol it is when things inside are trying to stick to each other and settle in. It may be the same for you but still best to ask your dr.

    Band to bypass

I had my band removed 9/11/19, gastric bypass scheduled for 1/8/20. My dr would not do them at the same time. Wanted 3 months for the stomach to heal after removal. I had the band for 11 years. Tough 3 months gained almost 30 lbs. So ready to have the surgery and br on the other side of it! Sent from my SM-G930R4 using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. My MD has told me I should had gastric bypass surgery. I am 65 years old and am wanting to know if there are others that have had this procedure done at this age or older and how it has gone for them? Thank you.

    Band to bypass

Depends on the surgeon/individual. I had a band to bypass revision done two weeks ago as one procedure. I had the band in for thirteen years, and it hadn't been doing anything for me but causing me issues.
  22. My doctor has suggested removing my band and doing the RNY bypass. Does anyone know if they can be done at the same time? I'm unsure I want to go under twice for the same thing. I'm super freaked about losing my band, but I understand it isn't working the way it used to. It's a part of me and I'm scared I'll miss it. Sent from my SM-G975U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I told almost anyone who wanted to listen because I'm an open book like that. Everyone at work knew I was having trouble with my band since they'd see me pick over food and then run to the bathroom to throw up. Now that I have a bypass I can calmly eat my food without all the drama!
  24. Ha! This is a great thread. As I have waxed and waned through the years I never got rid of clothes because I knew my loss was temporary and I eventually would be back in the big ones. Then I got a lap band 10 years ago and thought it would be permanent so I got rid of all my big clothes. After 8 years the weight crept back on and I had to buy new big clothes. Now I've had a bypass and am starting to wear the smaller ones again I saved. This time I'm gonna trust the process and as I outgrow them I'll donate them to Goodwill. My uniform scrubs I will alter because I am NOT buying new ones--I'm technically retired, so I'm too cheap to spend the money on them!
  25. This. I think it's very important to take into the equation why one wants/needs a revision. Anyway, results regarding revision and weight loss seem to vary a lot.
