she did say plain yogurt thinned with milk, i would imagine same holds true for pudding, and yes you can have sugar free jello, i just didn't, even though i do have it, just jello'd out...i did have v8 juice today and orange juice yummmmm, and coffee YAY. got downstairs in the lobby and smelled that coffe and forgot to ask, so i called back up there and told melissa to ask someone and she asked barb and she said decaf..... ive heard alot of people on the vst.com talk about going straight to chinese rest. and getting wonton and drinking the broth, it does sound goooood....:rolleyes2: Now, whats this about nerves, your the one who told me not to worry about anything, so whats your beef. hmmmm, beef. -
I didn't have to do liquids but I had to do a 2 week high protein, low carb diet they gave me. I have been sore but the pain from surgery has not been as bad as the gas. I was on full liquids until yesterday, then I started mushies. Yesterday I ate yogurt and some pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. I have no nausea but I have been taking it very slow with my eating. Feel free to contact me anytime and I wish you the best of luck.

That powdered peanut butter does sound like a good idea. Peanut butter seems the only thing I can put into a protein shake to make me drink it. Defeats the purpose if the protein drink has 500 calories in it. Today- B-yoplait strawberry yogurt L-leftover zucchini dish from yesterday (you were right luluc-it was better) D-4 oz meatloaf, .3 cup mashed potatoes, half of cornbread muffin (much needed fill tomorrow)
-
yesterday - b- 4oz pomegranate yogurt w/ 1/4c granola l- 1c shrimp/whitefish/avacado ceviche *spicey* s- 1 slice of colby jack cheese w/4 melba rounds d- 1/2 turkey burger w/avacodo wasabi mayo no bun

Yes, more restriction DOES help. I just basically looked at my lunch today and got full. I just hope it sticks with me this time. I seem to be hungrier though at night and have to resist the urge to go and munch. I've been eating key lime pie yogurt from yoplait. It is a pretty good dessert.

Anyone Getting Banded In September?
Momo13 replied to millsy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! Just thought I'd share my first week with the band... I started my mushy stage yesterday and I've been cooking up a storm! I made Turkey Taco Chili, Cream of Zucchini Soup and Curried Chickpeas with Quinoa. I blended half and left half of the batches whole and froze it for the soft foods stage in a weeks time. I'm finding it hard to eat so far just because I'm simply not hungry (unlike the first week when I was getting pretty sick of clear soups). What a bizarre thing!!! A typical day has been a protein shake in the morning (takes me a long time to finish), 1-2 cups of mushy food and 1/2 cup of apple sauce or yogurt a day. I'm taking multi vitamins and fibre supplements too. I've been eating out of a 1 cup bowl and baby spoon to re-train myself with these new portions. It takes me a while to eat too, another thing to get used to, haha! The first three days post op were pretty uncomfortable and I was in pain. Hurt to breathe, gas pain in my shoulders etc. I took tylenol, gravel and codeine days 1-7 but I'm just dealing with incision pain now (I was banded on Sept. 26th). I have a post op appointment with Dr. Woo next week. I have been able to sleep in my bed on my side for the past two nights but still have discomfort when I have to roll over or wake up on my stomach and when I'm showering. I haven't had any problems getting food stuck but I have also been chewing consciously and haven't been eating until I'm full... just the cup of food that fills my baby bowl and Im done, no if's and's or but's! The feeling of food passing through the band makes me very "aware" when I eat now, not painful or anything, I can just feel it so it reminds me to slow down and listen to my body. So far, so good! -
Sorry, Fanny! LOL! As for me, I'm trying to cut back some on computer time. It doesn't always work but I'm trying. And trust me, my life usually has NO drama and I prefer to keep it that way, so I'm no fun to live vicariously thru anyway!!!! Not a dumb question at all! I shop at Raley's and they have only one brand and about 3 flavors including plain and that's it. They keep it on the very top shelf above all the other yogurt. I know where to look and it still takes me a minute to find it! Other stores may have it in their Natural/Organic Foods section, whatever they call it, and again near the regular yogurt. Trader Joe's, if you have one near you, has a huge selection of Greek Yogurt. Their prices are very reasonable, [i can actually get more for $40 there, than I can at Raley's!] and you don't have to buy the big carton at Costco. I love Costco but there are just some things I can't buy there. I'll never eat it fast enough! Whole Foods would have it too, if you have one of those near you. Watch them tho, they're pricey for regular shopping. Great selection, but Yikes! I don't like most yogurt and only a little at a time. I really LIKE greek yogurt! I understand it's very rarely like TRUE greek yogurt, but I don't have the texture problems with it like I do the regular. Hope this helps. And I hope you can find some. It's really worth a try! Oh and another thing, if you do smoothies and such, go ahead and get the big carton of plain at Costco and put it in your smoothies. You can also just have a bowl of it with some fruit and a smidge of honey along with some granola or dry cereal and have a great breakfast. You can also use plain greek yogurt in place of recipes that call for regular plain yogurt or sour cream. Like when making dips and stuff. Oh! Oh! Just remembered this! Made this awhile ago and had forgotten about it. Take plain greek yogurt, chopped/torn cilantro, little chili powder, lime juice and mix to your taste. Makes a great add on to fish/shrimp tacos. Would probably work with shredded chicken tacos too. And it's pretty healthy! And one day I had left over shrimp for lunch and instead of cocktail sauce, used this dip and it was SO good! Would be good on salad or other veggies. Ohhhh, cucumber slices! UGH! Too bad I didn't think of all of this at the STORE! Not going back til next week!!!!!!! Anyway. PJTP: Got the grocery shopping done and walked out with only 3 bags and not even full ones at that and it still cost over $80!!! Yikes! $12 in chicken alone! I've gotta make a run to Costco. I buy the frozen bags there and then I have chicken whenever I want it and am not paying regular store prices for it! On a good note tho, I have meals planned thru Wednesday. Well, that's it for my boring life! LOL! 'Night all!!

I like Danon Greek and Mueller Greek, you should not have it with fruit in it I think. Get vanilla or plain fat free. The more expensive mueller isn't mixed with its fruit content and can be eaton seperatley as plain yogurt out of the side of the carton its stored in, tastes real good. I think Yoplait is the best with sugar and calories, 100 cal greek yogurt, just tastes like regular yoplait, I don't like it so much but it should be passable for sure. They do have X2 Protein Greek yogurt too you know ? btw, the Yoplait is probably the only one you'd want of the 3.

take it to a tailor! then you can reenact that yogurt commercial where she is talking about eating key lime pie etc and how her clothes need to be taken in  -
Today is day 5 of 7 day pre-op liquid diet. Weight is 418 lbs. (Started at 569 lbs) I purchased FAGE Total 0% Milkfat Yogurt to eat 3 times a day to get the 60 grams of protein daily. (18grams per 6oz) Yesterday, I was unable to eat the yogurt due to feeling sickly. I instead placed Unjury Santa Fe Chile Protein Powder in chicken broth. For dinner, mixed a small amount of yogurt and Unjury Chicken Soup protein powder in chicken broth. Drinking water mixed with Crystal Light and Kroger Lite Pink Lemonade to intake minimum of 64 oz daily. Not hungry at all! Sometimes I feel strange, weak and sick stomach feeling, bad breath and gas. Surgery is Thursday! Excited to begin my new life and continue my single engine private pilot land certificate to soar above the clouds. Up...Up...and Away!

How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
RubberBandKidd replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Bandsters, I was banded on Monday November 3, 2008, so it’s been a full week. I can report that I had serous gas pains since Wednesday, but today I feel a lot better, and both ends are working. I still have a little tenderness at the surgery wounds, but no pain. I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but we picked a bad time of the year to get banded. My Birthday is tomorrow, the 11th, and Thanksgiving is right around the corner, good grief. I’ve been on liquids for good month, and I am praying that my Doc puts me on mushy foods this Wednesday. Does anyone have any great ideas for Birthday treat; I can have puddings, Jell-O’s, and yogurts. Oh yes, other question. I see tickers and other info on the blogs, how do you install them? Thanks, and good luck to everyone. RBK. -

Could you do jello the first 10 days or was that too solid? What did she say about yogurt and pudding? Are you able to do those? Orange juice and bananas sound yummy to me! Blend them up like a smoothie and a little vanilla yogurt to it to make it taste more like a creme cycle:tongue_smilie: Why not buy the chicken soup and beef soups with the clear broth...strain them and just have the broth. Even go to the Chinese resturaunt and other the egg drop soup and strain it.. Or that dumpling soup and remove the dumplings. -
How many cc's you need is individual......I am at 5ccs and have awesome restriction, Riley I think topped out at 5.5cc's. Nicole (audsmom) had 8cc's..........Christine said she was at 6.5cc's............depends on the person. When the restriction kicks in your gonna know it!! But I will tell you a week out I am already figuring out what goes around the band restriction or not....oatmeal, yogurt, soup...........so restriction won't fix the snacking overeating..........Someone said Sharon Osborn lost all her weight with a band.......and that she had all the fluid taken out recently because she was using the band as a bulimic device...........as in she ate, overate, knew she would PB and than the calories didn't count..........she was bulimic in the past. She she had the fluid taken out and said she has to work onher emotional issues before she uses the band again................hmmm...........is that what Kaiser is doing trying to make us get the emotional stuff under control first before we can use the band......personally I need the band to have the motivation to kick me into wanting to work onthe emotional..............but I thought the whole Sharon Osborn thing was very interesting..............sorta scary too how strong eating issues can go and how they can totally override the band..................

Good Morning! Thank Goodness it's back. What in the heck do these people do? I did send Alex a PM. This morning I looked for the thread I started and it's not there - so weird. It was sunny and 35 yesterday! Wow -- hope it gets that nice again today. Currently it's 12. My neighbor across the street knitted me a pair of mittens with the fingers/thumbs open -- so sweet = but they really help -- I wore them last night - it helps keep me warmer in the house -- I just can't get warm enough no matter what I wear -- my DH will be sweating and I'll be freezing. That the worst drawback to having had this surgery - yesterday at work I wore 2 long sleeve sweaters, wool socks with boots on and still had to have my heater blasting away -- everyone else was fine -- in fact some were complaining it was too hot. Kab welcome back -- as Janet said, let us know what your food is. Did you surgeon stress the 4 rules? They are: Protein first, no snacking, drinking 64 oz of Water each day and exercising. Through my experience I have learned to remoe the carbs from my diet. Here's what I ate yesterday (and is my normal daily food). Breakfast: 1/4 cup strawberries/blueberries (no sugar) and half a banana mixed with greek yogurt. Lunch: 1/2 can of canned chicken breast mixed witih 1 wedge of light laughing cow cheese, sugar free Jello cup and sugar free popsicle. Dinner: Baby greens, onions and tomato, another wedge of light laughing cow garlic/herb cheese, grilled chicken breast tossed with light sesame salad dressing, sugar free pudding with added Protein powder and sugar free jello. Sometimes I add a Protein shake in the morning -- a couple times a week. If I do get hungry between a meal, I'll eat some sugar free jello or pudding to satisfy it or maybe a cup of coffe -- that seems to help stave off my hunger. Once a week or so I'll have a bag of 100 calorie popcorn as a special treat. I'm trying to lose the last 6 pounds or so. I exercise one hour every day -- occasionaly I take a day off - when I feel I need it -- sometimes I feel so energized I don't. Today I'm going to a Zumba class and then will lift weights. I lift weights at least twice a week -- it's important to build your muscles so you can burn calories more efficiently. Don't worry about what people at the gym think -- just do it for you - maybe the guy on the treadmill next to you used to weigh 400 lbs. - you don't know -- so just do it. Hope some of this can help you. this is not a diet, it's a lifestyle - a lot of us here have lost the majority of our weight and are either maintaining or fine tuning -- so between us we do have a wealth of information, but the bottom line is: it's not a magic cure -- YOU still have to work at making the lifestyle changes. You've accomlished so much in your life -- you can tackle this one too. Congrats on getting the band and continue to check in here daily -- it really really helps -- trust us, we all did and we're happy we stuck around. Apples, glad you liked costco - I haven't been in probaly almost 25 years -- been going to Sam's club the past 15 or so. Woudl be fun to see the difference -- when I come to Tuscon (some year) you and Eva can take me. You better believe I'm heading directly to Tuscon when I get that motor home. LOL Janet I'll have to check out those cookbooks -- love taste of home anyway -- thanks for the information. Lori, hope you have a good time in Denver -- my DS adn DIL are there this weekend -- skiing. Our bookstore in town is having a formal tea next Sat. for 4-6 year olds, so guess who I signed up? I can't wait - she's going to love it. Arelene, did you survive the storm? Gosh that was terrible weather for you. Hope all is well. Cheri, hope you're doing better too. Have a good weekend everyone. I have Zumba at 9:30 -- not normally held on Sat - she's making up for that one day when there was a storm -- Iwish she'd do it every SAt -it's a nice time to go and much more enjoyable than working out all alone. Linda
